From what I see he appeared to be out of touch with reality perhaps in a psychotic state. This can acually happen when one is extremely exhausted and sleep deprieved. He apparently landed 10 hours before this. No one in the airport could help him for 10 fucking hours!? Real hospitable Canada! The man was hungry, scared, confused, and getting angry. That was by the book. Why did everyone make such an uproar about this? They only tased him once, and it was the only non-lethal way to subdue him. His fighting did not help the situation, and the fact that some other circumstances allowed him to die does not put the policemen at fault.

Well, in other words...Robert Dziekański was unable to receive CPR until paramedics arrived...15 minutes later. Paramedics couldn't revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

I'm all for the police. In fact I'm studying to become one. But what I've seen in this video is a disregard for the regulations set out for police officers. Why did no one get a translator? Obviously they thought he was a loose cannon by watching him smash a computer... but there was no sign that these officers wanted a peaceful encounter. Well, he is in an unfamiliar country and being kept against his will for a reason he doesn't even know for hours. I would see why he would be that agitated. There is 4 cops there, it is not hard to apprehend one individual. Also, they are on the other end of the glass, the "capsicum spray" wouldn't "effect" the people in the area other than Robert and RCMP. On a side note, people heard the shots fired 4 times, but RCMP announced only 2 shots were fired which isn't necessary.

I'm in school to become a police officer, my teacher was a police officer in toronto. He brought up a good point, what if the police officers didn't have tasers, would this been gun worthly. From what I see he appeared to be out of touch with reality perhaps in a psychotic state. This can acually happen when one is extremely exhausted and sleep deprieved. He died because of our so called justice system which not suprisingly failed to deliver justice to the very people who need it the most. The vulnerable, the weak. And cops are getting more brutal. I feel ashamed that not one Canadian took the time to help this individual. I am certain that most of us that take an international flight and wait for 10 hours without assistance would be in the same frame of mind. It is clear that this man posed no threat. He had no weapon on him and he was trying to speak with the police before they used lethal force. Following the inquiry it is criminal what the RCMP got away with - murderers.

Don't know how much the financial settlement is for,never made public. Heard through the grapevine from someone working for the RCMP that they were quietly shipped off elsewhere. The nigger cop is a pig in Toronto and Robinson got away with running over and killing someone dui! So much for justice! unsure as to other two stooges!

According to the RCMP's Use of force guide, they were legally allowed to use a conducted energy weapon in this instance, he's acting overly aggressive and causing a disturbance, he is beyond reasoning with and should be restrained which is the point of using a taser or CEW. capsicum spray also effects anyone in the area... not good for an airport, dumbass. learn your shit.

Well, he is in an unfamiliar country and being kept against his will for a reason he doesn't even know for hours. I would see why he would be that agitated. There is 4 cops there, it is not hard to apprehend one individual. Also, they are on the other end of the glass, the "capsicum spray" wouldn't "effect" the people in the area other than Robert and RCMP. On a side note, people heard the shots fired 4 times, but RCMP announced only 2 shots were fired which isn't necessary.

@peppercoco I also heard that, to be quite honest, I do think they overstepped their boundaries using the CEW that many times, especially after being on the ground but too many people on here calling the police pigs and murderers don't understand how hard it is to actually apprehend someone, also when you're attempting to restrain someone i wouldn't want capsicum spray in my eyes. too many people on here are ignorant and at the end of the day, the officers would rather go home than a hospital.

Dziekanski clearly put his hands up to say he meant no harm as the police arrived. He made no attempt to physically harm the officers.

@imnotemo14 im in police foundations and our entire program has to write a paper on how this is brutality. the use of force guide states that they are supposed to use intermediate weapons from active resistant to assaultive so your right there. BUT technichally your not suppose to use tasers till the person has reached the assaultive stage. the taser is the last weapon to be used before your firearm. there was not soft or hard hand tactics, no pepper spray, no baton. learn YOUR shit, dumbass.

@imnotemo14 Ha. please. that first hit from the taser was way to long for starters. it supposed to be used for 5 seconds max. secondly, why were they threatened? the guy backed up against a wall surrounded four to one. they had batons, pepper spray, hell they could've whipped out they're guns and that wouldve been better communication that what they actually did. they tased him like 4 or 5 times. one officer had his knee in his neck. they refused to unhandcuff him when paramedics arrived. why?

Like in todays day and age who doesn't have a cell phone? She must have had one. Immigrants that decide to come to Canada should learn some basic English before coming here as it is our native tongue or french for that matter! I am fluent in english,french,italian,and some Cantonese since we have a large asian population here in Vancouver. He was coming here to live. I was in Greece last summer. I don't know Greek language and no one had problem with it because Greeks are friendly people. His mother called to the airport and she was told he didn't come. Then if you're guilty or not will be decided while you stay in prison. I'm in school to become a police officer, my teacher was a police officer in toronto. He brought up a good point, what if the police officers didn't have tasers, would this been gun worthly. No, it wasn't even taser worthy. Not, just for this incident but for others like this what happened to talking to people? They say that your mouth is your biggest assets but yet it least use. These officers actions cannot and never will be justified based on the video.
