Humans are overpopulated and are forcing animals out of their habitats not only for agriculture, but also for residential and industrial purposes. If you are concerned about the harms of agriculture, you should be vegan because grain used to feed cattle, pigs and chickens would be enough to feed every human on earth.
@batfly BTW, the Cherokee were not buffalo hunters. Their lands were in the American southeast (Georgia), and they were the first North American tribe to plant crops. The history I read said they survived mostly on the three mothers (corn, beans, and squash), and ate meat (usually deer and smaller animals) only in winter and at feasts.

@eringolson eating meat is not necessarily bad for you but neither is veganism. Veganism is safe when done correctly. Make sure you dont eat too much meat, research is research too much consumption of saturated fat/dietary cholesterol (which only comes from animals) can lead to issues. Everything in moderation and all should be good. Just as a side advice, go to a Registered Dietitian. This "wonderful woman" doesnt even have a college education and was never really a vegan.

It is morally wrong to cause unnecessary suffering to an innocent sentient being. Eating meat is entirely unnecessary nutritionally, and is done simply as a choice. Thus, to eat meat is to participate willingly in the unnecessary suffering of an innocent sentient being, which therefore, makes it wrong.

Humans are overpopulated and are forcing animals out of their habitats not only for agriculture, but also for residential and industrial purposes. All of that is wrong, but none of it is a condemnation of veganism. If you are concerned about the harms of agriculture, you should be vegan because grain used to feed cattle, pigs and chickens would be enough to feed every human on earth.

@batfly BTW, the Cherokee were not buffalo hunters. Their lands were in the American southeast (Georgia), and they were the first North American tribe to plant crops. The history I read said they survived mostly on the three mothers (corn, beans, and squash), and ate meat (usually deer and smaller animals) only in winter and at feasts.

@eringolson eating meat is not necessarily bad for you but neither is veganism. Veganism is safe when done correctly. Make sure you dont eat too much meat, research is research too much consumption of saturated fat/dietary cholesterol (which only comes from animals) can lead to issues. Everything in moderation and all should be good. Just as a side advice, go to a Registered Dietitian. This "wonderful woman" doesnt even have a college education and was never really a vegan.
