  • Get a "common" snapping turtle

  • that is not true the goverment sais is true, they baned turtles under 4 inches because some dumd ass kid ate one and chocked to death

  • so u can't put a musk turtle with a westie?

  • @rfsmith6464 Not unless you wanna risk the musk drowning.

  • do u know why it's illeagal 2 sell a turtle or have a red eared slider turtle in Tennenssee? and will musk turtles go well with western painted turtles?

  • @rfsmith6464 musk turtles are considered shallow water turtles so they may drown in high water lvls with western painteds.

They are not illegal to own in tennensse. Though it is illegal to sell in the state because it is part of your local wildlife. It would be impossiable to say if it was taken from the wild or not.

  • i got a snapping turtle at a petshop that was smaller than 4 inches a few months ago

  • my turtle didnt open its eyes that much and today i saw wite stuff on my turtles eyes help me!

  • @chinafabiola go out and get zoomed eye drops and keep water as clean as possiable.

  • hey thanks for your info but i wanna know how come the old RES don't have salmonella?why is it about the size under 4 inches?do they fight salmonella when they grow up or what?and is it safe after 4" (100%) no salmonella??thanks again..

  • Ok now really they want to get rid of Roger and once they do that. Their going to buy me Call of duty World At war. WTF?!?! I don't give a foohey about video games I want my pet turtle Roger!

  • My parents want to get rid of Roger because they think he has salmonella.

  • @toontownlegomaster. You Just tell them to read the facts. You can get salmonella from handling eggs, poultry, and raw meat., alot of things. As long as you wash your hands your fine. How long have you had the turtle, if its been awhile ? If you didnt get sick by now your fine. Your practicing safe habits or he just doesnt have it.

  • @Starcraft2488 I've had Roger for 2 weeks now. And ever since they freaking figured out that turtles have salmonella. Dude I'm freaking crying right now because they said their going to get rid of him. They won't even face the facts.

  • LOL ! I would never get a snapping turtle either. O;

  • well thanks but why under 4 inches?? and why big turtles don't have it ? and if i have a small and a big one in the same tank will the small give salmonella to the big one?

  • All turtles can have it, not just under 4inches. They banned turtle under 4inches cause if you see a baby turtle your more likely to buy that then some giant dinner plate sized turtle that you know you dont have room for.

If one turtle has it most commonly the other turtle will get it.

  • @EHABGMG8 I think its cause 4 inch turtles can fit into a child's mouth.

  • you've already got sliders, diamondbacks and painteds. why don't you go for maps? =] and yes! i strongly agree with you. snappng dont interest me at all as they get so humongous =(( their aggresive nature is another factor too lol.

hope you bring back some maps from the reptile show =]

  • well see if you can get another exotic turtle have fun and hope u find a cool turtle you like

  • here in the philippines they sell baby red eared slider i think its about 3 inches or below its so small and not ver active at all well nice video it would be nice if we can see your face with your turtles just like an educational video but still its is very educational i have a RES he is very agressive and he likes to eat my goldfish in the tank lol

  • Never Haha! If i wanted to show myself i would.

  • @Starcraft2488 lol but thanks for your videos you help a lot how to take care on my RES

  • you should show all of your turtle habitats :)

  • kool video man. You always have me as a subscriber

  • Thanks ^_^

  • does Salmonella affect the turtle's health?

  • In most cases no, but in rare cases they get theat much samonella in there system it causes them to get sick. Again very rare

  • nice video travis love keeping upto date with what your doing i got myself a baby stinkpot musk and a baby razorback musk... check out a video of them on my channel ;) cute lil buggers

  • see if u can find a soft shelled turtle they seem pretty interesting

  • Probably wont happen, there susposed to be a pretty aggresive turtle. Have the temper of a snapping turtle.

  • im scared now O.O but yea ill make sure i wash my hands more often now.

  • Dont worry about it. Millions of people own reptiles and dont get sick at all.

  • Nice vid...cant wait to see the expo vid and what you may get

  • Im not 12 but is 12 considered little kid?

  • Its more around infant- to like 4 or 5

  • @Starcraft2488 ohhhh lol

  • when you do go to the retile expo, can you focus more on the turtles instead of the other reptiles?... :)

  • I film the whole thing, sad thing is snakes are more popular then turtles =(

I was gonna try and focus more on the turtles, showing them and then there price. To many people ask me prices and i forget haha

  • Wooo turtles

Snapping Turtles are mean shits ROFL

My turtles recently passed over 4 inchs now <3

  • But at Reptile Shows can't you buy turtles under 4"?

  • Yea, they get away with selling them by saying there for scientifc reasons. There not gonna be pets. Lol its so simple to get around that law

  • oh cool! you named it!! thats a nice name ghost (: hes really colorful and beautiful

  • Yep, idk what to name the other one yet haha.

  • love your diamondbacks!!!

  • hey when dbt's get the new scute does it look sorta withish and then darken? cause mine look wite ish is like that?

  • Sounds like its just the pattern. They go white then get a black ring then white.

  • @Starcraft2488 yeah i guess hes a regular northern and i never had one before (a dbt) so i just wanted to make sure it was normal because it looks like hes growing another scute so thanks! and btw the waya bout salmonella like u said all reptiles are prone to having it which is why i think its halarious that only turtles under 4 inches are banned! i think tortoises under 4 inches are the same too

  • Well look at it this way. Most people get res babys and then they get big and go omg i didnt know and release them in the wild or give them up.

If they would have obeyed the law and saw a 9inch res in a petstore they would go omg thats big i dont want that. Instead, omg look at that tiny baby turtle. I can put in a 10gallon tank i have, omg he is CUTE!!! He is then bought. Thats what happen, alot of people got baby turtles.

  • @Starcraft2488 yeah i know also alot of them died from wrong nutrition because alot of them were just fed dried up flies and stuff and thats the reason RES's are becoming such an invasive especies everywere but yeah i read on this and stuff sorta how i got mine (my mom gotthem from a friend who gave them to her and she doesnt believe tat they will get big

  • Yea it worked well well the law came about. It stopped baby turtles from being sold but now everyone knows how to get around the law and baby turtle popularity is coming back hard and fast.

  • @Starcraft2488 yeap and it can cause the same problem again, and only for educational "purposes"

  • I blame the internet turtle sites that are selling now. They advertise all over. Reptile shows dont advertise. If you found one its because your a serious herper.

The states that banned red eared sliders and other animals took the right steps. The expensive turtles are fine. Your not gonna release or give up turtles that you paid over $100 for lol. If you paid that much you know what your getting into.

  • @Starcraft2488 yeah l0l my parents wont let me buy a new tank cause they say too much money, but hey its my money so o well,

yeah like turtle shack and turtle sale advirtise alot on utube and everything and it took me a while to here about expos so yeah i see wat u mean and wen we go my mom likes the little turtles but i tell her they get huge nd she gets shocked so theres alot of missing info that alot of regualr non herpers (all reptile fans) should know before buying

  • Cute

  • all turtles have it they carry it in their stomach to help digest food

  • No not all carry it and the one about helping to digest food, no studies show that it does because enough salmonella in the turtle can actually make it sick.

  • so 80% of turtles under 4inches have it? or all can have it?

  • 80% of all turtles.

Big or little, small or large, captive or wild, free or trapped!

So any turtle you pick up most likely has it

  • @Starcraft2488

will my turtle, 16 of age have or could get salmonella?

all i feed her is turtle pellets, sometime veggies, and change the water once a week .

could any of those regular procedures make her catch that?

  • It shouldnt, its if you feed your turtle live stuff or meat is when theres a chance you might introduce it

  • @Starcraft2488

so chances are since my turtle has been in captivity all its life and has never been fed live stuff, she prob dont have it?

  • Who knows, it can passs from the parent. You turtle could of have had it right from the start.

I wouldnt worry at all it does nothing to the turtle and you havent gotten sick

  • i like turtles

  • i love those turtles

  • ME TOO!

  • awesome
