oh dear. we need to start even further back: as soon as i get the treats out (not my normal method, i should mention) he sits. bec he's a big black dog, i've taught him to sit politely when wanting something and it's now bec a reflex, looks like. so we are starting with "Stand". that is, standing on all fours, not up on his back legs, not spinning like a dervish, and not flopping on his back and bicycling with all four legs *facepalm*
I just love how clean your videos and books are. The white background is awesome! I also love all the color and how simple you make the tricks. I taught a dog training/pet responsibility class last year and we watched your DVD and the kids had to train one trick a week with their dogs at home, video tape it and they loved it. :))
I am going to try an teach this to my 11 yr old siberian husky/german shep. I just taught him roll over yesterday. he has never liked being on his back so I never thought I would be able to teach it to him, but I think yesterday was just a good day. It took him 5 minutes to get it even with the hand signal. I taught him today to cross his paws while laying down. He's almost got this one. I just got to get him to hold it and understand the siganl a little more.

after all those smooth-coated/hairless dogs, that husky looks like he went extra innings on the "fluff" cycle!
