For me,REM touched senses most other bands except the Beatles,and a few others didnt touch.This is almost a lifeline to the depressed,a friend.Other of their songs,Nightswimming.create a sense of risk and adventure,Imitation of Life,a fabulously and unasmamed catchy pop song,but better than a pop song;as this is how it should be done.Electrolyte is surreal and sensational.whisking the listener away on a vapour.Very few artistes have this ability.To me,that is the real tradgedy of REM splitting
