Mythbusters tested if a bullet really could take a hat off of someone's head and it was proved it could not happen. Odds are, you had someone off camera shoot at the ground and another person have a thin string tied to the had and he jerked it off.

@sunnyztmoney if a bullet is flying at an upwards angle it will take a hat off, the bullet, reflects off of the clay (what it looks like) and flew up on to his scalp thrusting the hat upwards due to the force of the impact of the bullet.
notice that the hat appears out of thin air and then slides off ever so slightly to the left...... hmmmmmm... Go outside and shoot a hat off a limb and watch what happens..

This is very real. I don't know what the bullet bounced off of or what motivated it to come straight back. But this guy is very lucky to be alive.

This is a more common occurrence than you would think. Last weekend I had three rounds come back in my general vicinity out of the 1000+ rounds I put down range. Actual strikes are much rarer but you will find plenty of examples of it on youtube.

Notice how the guy is trying not to wipe away the ketchup or what ever they used off his arm in the .270 vid... I like how in both videos they are more concerned with filming the wounds instead of helping the alleged injured person out... That shit don't happen in real life..They are basically copying the "Guy hit by .50 ricochet "(which is also an act.)...

Ya know I asked my Grandfather where the scar on his forehead came from once. He was 12 and shooting .22's with his brother. Brother shot an upright wine bottle, breaking it and tipping it on its side. Grandpa shot next into the remnant of the bottle, the bullet went it, flipped a bitch and lodged in his forehead. Almost dead center about and inch above his eyebrows. He said that was nothing compared to the strange things he saw bullets do during his time in WWII....
bullet could never richochet beyond 90 degrees. that's just physics. infact a bullet couldn't even richochet 90 degrees it would have to be less than that. so to beieve that that bullet richocheted back at the shooter you'd have to believe that bullet bounced off of several things before coming back to hit hit, and all i see are trees and dirt.
He shot the target, then the dust kicking up was another guy firing at the ground from the side off camera. You can clearly hear the two shots. Then someone pulled off the hat with a string. Fake blood, horribly staged, and shitty acting.
@GigsVT The echo was louder and deeper than the original shot? That kind of defies science doesn't it? The guy who shot the other weapon was standing to the back and left of the camera, that explains why the second shot was louder. His barrel was to the side of the cameras mic. rather than pointing away from it like the guy who's visible. Look close and you can see that where the supposed ricochet hits, the wind is blowing dust left, yet the heavier chunks of dirt are sent to the right of it...

@GigsVT Some moon landing critics make valid points. Not saying its faked but its always a possibility. This however doesn't take a scientist to figure out that it's faked. There's so many things happening here that aren't possible. I can't believe I'm the only person who has pointed this out. Put your finger on the bottom left corner of the screen and point to the top right. Watch where the ricochet hit and the dirt is sent where your finger is pointing. The left is where the other man shot.

My dad was rabbit hunting with his brother and when he shot the pellets went through the rabbit hit the tree behind it, ricocheted back and hit my uncle on his thigh. Didn't draw blood but it stung like hell. Another time when I was a kid I shot at a squirrel with a .22 LR outside the machine shop at my house. The bullet, or a piece of it, ricocheted off the metal siding and grazed my temple.

@brucelee6790 when theorising about a perfectly spherical object striking a perfectly flat surface,then newtons laws will suffice. This is not the case in real life, where there are innumerable variables(surrounding both the bullet and target, and the environment) which are pretty much impossible to analyse.
do some googling, you'll see that this does happen. yes it's rare, but it's definitely not impossible

@Zachhecrote14 Actually using AR500 with a min distance of 100 yards on a flexible mount (chain, fire hose, etc.) with the plate at a downward angle will absorb and deflect all ricochets into the ground and prevent this from occurring.

B) it doesn't have nearly the same momentum -- weight shape and velocity -- it did when it was fired from the weapon
C) It wasn't milimiters away from his head, it did hit him on the top of his head.

@GigsVT Some moon landing critics make valid points. Not saying its faked but its always a possibility. This however doesn't take a scientist to figure out that it's faked. There's so many things happening here that aren't possible. I can't believe I'm the only person who has pointed this out. Put your finger on the bottom left corner of the screen and point to the top right. Watch where the ricochet hit and the dirt is sent where your finger is pointing. The left is where the other man shot.

@brucelee6790 That's the thing though, it is perfectly possible its just unlikely to happen. My dad was rabbit hunting with his brother and when he shot the pellets went through the rabbit hit the tree behind it, ricocheted back and hit my uncle on his thigh. Didn't draw blood but it stung like hell. Another time when I was a kid I shot at a squirrel with a .22 LR outside the machine shop at my house. The bullet, or a piece of it, ricocheted off the metal siding and grazed my temple.

@brucelee6790 when theorising about a perfectly spherical object striking a perfectly flat surface,then newtons laws will suffice. This is not the case in real life, where there are innumerable variables(surrounding both the bullet and target, and the environment) which are pretty much impossible to analyse.
do some googling, you'll see that this does happen. yes it's rare, but it's definitely not impossible

@Zachhecrote14 Actually using AR500 with a min distance of 100 yards on a flexible mount (chain, fire hose, etc.) with the plate at a downward angle will absorb and deflect all ricochets into the ground and prevent this from occurring.

I 180 degree ricochet is very rare unless you are using a steal core that doesnt penetrate. But still, a ricochet rarely ever comes straight back.
