@AnAutumnsDay It's not his sexuality that's making him miserable. This all started when his boyfriend, Anselmo Feleppa, died of AIDS back in 1993. He was deeply in love with him and it was a huge blow for him. He was coping. But things really went from bad to worse when his mother died of cancer. I remember reading in a magazine that he thought about committing suicide after her death. I guess it's funk he hasn't been able to get out of. Get well soon, George.

His sexuality probably did bother him alot in his younger years, and as Jedi says below, he lost someone very dear to him, but music makes money, you gotta play to the masses, sing what they will buy.
