When I coached JV wrestling I suggested a variation of this move to a few of the kids who were having trouble going against leg wrestlers. It worked like a charm.
Nothing ever works exactly the way you want. If that were the case, you'd never have been rear mounted in the first place. This would be worth trying. At least it might get you out of rear mount.
This is gonna be a struggle with a skilled and or very strong opponent. But i think if you follow through and execute this with exact precision and tightness it should work, than of course if he is not tapping to the choke you f'd everything up. High probability on this move depends on who ur grappling. I would say very low chance in an MMA fight or against a strong opponent. I feel the opponent would either have to be very weak or unskilled to fall for this, but this is a legit move.
you don't have to shrug the hook off you can leave it because it works well if you wanna crank the neck choke at first, he will un do his hook if he feels it is cranking
@kappkids That is absolutely correct. It is unnecessary to throw the hook off. You can rotate inside the rear mount once you have control of the shrugged arm. Good comment.
sweet transition. I often bal and go into the anaconda when people sart that escape on me, but I never thought about going straight into a darce off the escape itself.
don't ever reach to clear someone's hooks cause if they know jiu jitsu they will probably trap your arm and from their they can easily mata leao or tringle choke
Nice technique. Looks like it would be hard to get rid of opponents hooks

I do this transition, but I use my elbow to clear the leg, that reduces the risk of him stepping over to trap my arm with his leg.

In Jiu Jitsu there is a counter for every technique.
Every movement involves a calculated risk.

Very well spoken kmeyers85. You can't steel 3rd base without taking your foot off of 2nd!

I was looking for the basic escape, but this is much more effective.
