One of the big reasons Congress fails is because their measure of success is how much money they bring to their home districts. Money is not the solution to everything, and often times you need to make sacrifices in order to do the right thing.
As such, I do not support any "clean slate" candidates who continue to make decisions based on "what will yield the most economic growth for the community."
exactly none of the decisions none of the bills should be allowed to be influenced by monetary gain. it should all be based on ethics and what helps raise the level of living for the people, lobbying, and combing bills should not be allowed.

I like to see this idea getting traction. It is time for a generational uprising and many people have already started talking about it. Yes, the current entrenched political establishment needs to be shown the door with a good swift kick in the rear.
That said, these fights will occur at state wide levels wherein the incumbants have huge special interest inroads, campaign warchests, and deep pocketed donors they can call on.
If you want to fight, start raising money. Lots and lots of it.
I agree that the good 'ole boy network needs to be shook up royally. The women voters make up the majority of voters, so a great idea is to have a bunch of women running for Congress. Why not one in every race? Together you will be able to rock the vote, big time! I am not a woman, but I see what mostly men have done to our nation. Perhaps women would be more likely to do the wise thing!

Term limits would help. Why do we let our Congressmen raise money and campaign while they are supposed to be working for us. Why not 4 year congressional terms, then the Congressmen must sit out a minimum of one year and can't rerun for the same seat. If we combine congressional districts and have elections every year, it would be a continual changing congress. New ones from the controlling parties would have to come in and compete. The former ones could then come back after one year.
I think you're wrong there. Many more then a 'select few' can be placed in that category. In fact, most of the Senate regularly receives kickbacks from organizations and companies which they show favoritism towards (our current president among them). Now, there ARE only a 'select few' which can not be placed in that category (none of the more prominent senators come to mind). As far as Representatives are concerned, I can't say much, as I have much less knowledge about the House.
But that's what I was saying, there are only a select few - meaning just that. There is a very small contingent whom shouldn't be targeted and a mob mentality shouldn't be applied lest we remove those few who aren't in that category.
I agree that this is a good direction for people to take, but I just have to question what people were doing all these years as this is what we were supposed to be doing in the first place.
We allowed these people to get where they are now...
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that a majority of the Senate fall into the classification of 'corrupt, self-serving politician'.
This is a good direction, and you're question is one that is answered by the men who originally conceived the idea of the American public school district. In their own words, they made the school system to create, "Good and devoted workers." The generations raised in that system was raised not to ask question and to simply go along with it.
But if you'll look at what I was saying, it was the same thing, different words.
I don't know if you're referring to Horace Mann who admired the Prussian educational system and partially used some of the components for the American system, but his objective was for the establishment of free, public, non-sectarian education for every man and woman.
I was raised in that system, as most of us were, and from what I can see, we don't have a problem expressing our individuality.
I think you may be misreading your sentence, because it reads 'a select few of Congress can be labeled as corrupt and self-serving politicians.' I think it's because your leaving out whether the select few belong to the 'corrupt and self-serving', or the 'uncorrupted and America-serving.' You're leaving it open, meaning that it's read as they fall into the last label mentioned. Because you're making it as a response to my rantings on the prior, it seems as if that is what you're talking about.
I'm not sure if Horace Mann is who I'm referring to. I can't remember them man's name. However, he designed the American public education system, and he said that he designed it to give the American government s generation of able and devoted workers who would do as told with little question. It was not design to specialize, or make them particularly intelligent. It was made to make them just smart enough to do what needed to be done by the masses, without helping anyone to great heights.
Then you must be referring to Horace Mann and unless you can directly attribute a quote of that nature to him and your memory is a bit flawed in that particular rregard, then how can you present that as a fact?
unless you can find a Jesus Christ or Buddha to run the country it's just going to be more of the same just under a different name and 99% of the people today are not going to be willing to listen to Jesus or Buddha
Frankly, I wouldn't listen to Jesus. Though his policies and rules are great for a single person, but it would be the equivelant of driving a steak through the heart of any powerful nation. Fortunately or otherwise, any nation which wishes to maintain any degree of strength must lie, cheat, steal, and kill. A good nation (like the US), simple has to do it quietly, and make it so that it can't be linked to them, or, better yet, it can be linked to somebody else.
I mean no offense, but if you'll simply look at the records of every major senator, John McCain and Joe Bidden both included, and most minor senators, including Barrack Obama, you'll find a history of favoritism coinciding with campaign contributions and personal kickbacks.
Exactly! There are maybe ten senators that aren't corrupt, don't take kickbacks, and only receive campaign contributions without prior arrangements, as a 'thank you.'
Great idea, 2010 is coming, All these crazy bills, like the ,No fly no buy, The Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009, The new Hate crime bill, Which is way out there. Are we in Russia??? Did i get lost in the past few years and make a wrong turn?
Great idea Shelly. It sounds sort of like the "clean house" idea the republicans used to regain the majority in congress, but as you said supporting one party is just going to get us more of the same. I'd really like to get rid of the senators from my state, and with the low level of approval congress and the government in general have, now seems like an excellent time to do something like this.
Atlas Shrugged - the word is getting out - the ground swell of your words is finally reverberating through my personal networkd of friends. My friends in the SF Bay Area I left in October are hearing my words again as I told them why I was leaving. It's going to get ugly - - and now, they are saying "It IS getting ugly !"
Global if not a Nation Wide Strike is the only way to reset the machine. "They" said it last summer.....hicup ! they said it last summer.....hicup....STRIKE ! ! ! or collapse
somewhere along the road to where we are, we stopped electing people who would speak our voice and we started electing people who had their own agenda. A state representative doesn have an opinion! He is suppose to speak our voice, no what he thinks we want.
Great idea Shelly! The Leadership Institute has a great Future Candidate program. I hope people are motivated enough to get involved and take back this country.
great ideas! I just don't think that we can find people like that. Politicians like their power and it's hard to get them to vote for giving themselves less power.
Our government should be comprised of individuals like you! You are honest, informed and looking out for US. Thank You so much for your videos, they are always AWEsome!
It's counter-intuitive to want to elect people that propose the preservation of the exact system that got us into this mess to begin with. We need to elect politicians that support things like campaign finance reform, and who want to outlaw lobbying, and instill protections in the system to make it more representative, like instant-runoff voting, public funding for campaigns, ballot initiative legislation, political anti-trust laws... the list goes on.
You have good points and I would agree with you 100%. We need to wake up and FIX the system that we have been given. Yes FIX meaning that the system we have is broken. If I had my way I would say we start over even as far back as the Constitution and looking over the basics first. It had flaws..... Face the facts learn fix what we can and move on
It doesn't restrict campaign financing (which may soon become a big problem). It doesn't insure peoples' right to recall their politicians or pass laws by initiative. It doesn't mandate that all changes to the Constitution have to be authorized by the people via referendum, like South Korea's does. It doesn't adequately protect our right to privacy. It doesn't set term limits for Congresspeople. It doesn't put limits on the Federal Reserve. There's a lot of things it doesn't do.
I would certainly agree that the Constitution is imperfect. It gives the government too much power. But the pols in charge now even go way beyond what it allows. So yes, simply following it would improve things.
Take for instance your concerns about privacy and the Fed. If we followed the Constitution, the former would be much less subject to violation, and we wouldn't even have the latter. Believe me, you would see the difference!
Then we could go on to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments.
I think the government should have power, but I think the people should be the ones in charge via passing federal laws by initiative.
I don't support repealing the 16th amendment. Taxation is the life-blood of the nation, and the government should be able to tax some people more than others, when needed.
I'm glad that you admit to the constitution not being perfect. Most conservos assume that when libs say that they automatically mean the 2nd amendment. I couldn't care less about your guns.
1 - A nation is not a government, but a community of people, bound together by language and culture, who interact through the institutions of civil society, like voluntary organizations and the free market.
2 - Taxation is an inherently violent act which disrupts civil society.
3 - Most importantly, what gives anyone the right to take the fruit of another person's labor, regardless of his noble intentions?
I've dealt with these issues with many people many times b4.
1. No government means no nation. Nation = nation-state. Nation-state = state. States require taxation. It's not coercive. It's society. It's the 1 thing connecting everybody. Otherwise, it would just be a bunch of people living near each other. You undervalue all the progress we have made in history.
The state is a saner institution/structure than private ones are.
2. Taxation is not violent when states are voluntary. No one in their right mind actually advocates the abolition of all statehood. Is that seriously what you're advocating? Because that's an absurd insinuation and no one championing that can really be taken seriously. Civil society is in a constant state of injustice when there is no greater power governing it.
3 - Well, I don't know if you're well-educated as to the theory behind contractarianism, but in a state of nature (non-statehood) it's just a war of all against all. So, no one has a right to anything and simultaneously everyone has a right to everything. Might makes right in this system. Statehood is supposed to be a collective ownership of a piece of land and an agreed-upon system of communication and governance on this piece of land. These contracts are supposed to expire, but they don't.
socialism has FAR more flaws than the constitutional republic model. the score isn't even close. the contitutional model developed by our founding fathers is the best devised form of gov't ever recorded in history. if you think our country is in peril currently because our constitution was flawed from the beginning...... you would be walking around with your eyes closed.
I'm not talking about socialism. I'm talking about basic government services like those every nation in the world provides. The rest should be left to the private sector.
I'd vote for you, By the way Shelly, You should get out of Cali. All conspiracies aside, that's not a good place to be.
I was born and raised out there and decided to leave. You couldn't pay me to go back out there. I now live in the TN and I gotta tell you, most "good ol boys" are actually good people. Matter of fact most of the problems in Washington IMHO stem from big city Socialists and neo cons who've probably met very few "Good ol boys"
When cap and trade passes we will quickly go from recession to depression. That is the purpose of the bill. Take more disposable income out of the hands of a people who need to spend because 70% of GDP is consumer spending. We are going down fast and hard. Not sure we will have anything but martial law in 2010.
Rightly or wrongly, the problems we are dealing with now began with the introduction of the birth control pill. No kids being born means, no need to worry about the future.
When we get leaders in representing We The People, the first action item has to be to UNDO all the damage that's been done over the last few decades. Candidates must be willing to post their original birth certificates for all to see, and must pass an aptitude test that shows they are qualified and at least briefed on the NWO.
Great work, Shelly. You've got my vote should you decide to run. And, God willing, we'll survive that long.
Exactly. That's why we need to get rid of them and replace them with people who are wise to them and their games, and who know how to defeat them. It doesn't do any good to fight if you don't understand what you're fighting. It doesn't do any good to get these guys out if you can't replace them with someone who understands who and what got us into this mess in the first place...
None of this matters!....With ACORN (which has now gone 'International') being fed tax payer dollars and being "Protected" by Obama's Democrats- they can continue to rigg Voter Registration and the Media will continue to 'Cover Up' for them cause they don't want ANYONE but 'Socialist' Democrats in office....No One Wins.
After "Cap & Trade", a Democratic Super Majority, and Nationalize Healthcare....America is DOOMED- and the Media is silently cheering it on. I have NO Faith in 'The People'
Try an Elitist Republicratic Dictatorship is more like it. That old paradyme of right left control is exposed. They all hold Hands and pray together. We are apposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy.

We will defeat hatred and violence by not resembling it.
the biggest problem is it takes vast fortunes from corporate world to out campaign the other two party's. Once you accept money from them they own you. We have to raise the money from the grass roots. then we have to run for the school boards, twp government, county government and state reps. Then we can move on to federal. Shelly, green is amazing on you. so is anything other color come to think of it.
It's the winning attitude that your using that WILL INSURE things will never change. We can change this! But, we need to get on the same page! they keep us broken up in groups and picking sides. Lets just start with getting REAL PEOPLE in seats of pollitical power. Then worry about the smaller issues. We need people that will look at things from outside the the pollitical box. A person that would vote for a bill because it's worth while. Not because it will help them in the next election.
I wish it were that simple. But the game is rigged the players are crooks and if you play there game how will that change anything? You cant defeat hatred with hatred you cant defeat vilolence with violence. And you wont change the system by resembling it. Victory through noncooperation.
16.4 million Laws on the books. only 6% of prisoners are violent offenders the rest petty drug crimes. This is what there system breeds. Poverty will soon be a crime.
Thats my point. We inject REAL people GOOD people into their evil game. It's not going to be easy. But then again nothing worth while is.... But my point is GOOD can win. But it's good people on the easy road of giving up thats put us here. Now the GOOD must rise and fight!!!!! The battlefield is still a political one today. That may change tomorrow. But untill then it's the one we must fight on.
OK, put me down as running for Governor for the state of Oklahoma. Now who do I talk with about my campaign funding? I would be more then happy to start tomorrow and walk county to county door to door across the state. I live in the top NE town in the state now. So that gives me a year to make it to the SW corner.
I voted for a 3rd Party in the 1996 and 2000 Pres election but to no avail. I agree whole heartily that Congress no longer serves the function it was intended by our Founders. Hell, the govt as a whole no longer serves the function it was intended but in order to find a viable 3rd Party I think we need to start at the local level but it's going to be hard to break the system as it's too well entrenched. I fear it will take a total collapse of our govt system before any real change can happen.
Go and become a Delegate in your state it is so Frickin' easy. They had one hundred seats and only fifty people showed up if you bring a friend they can become a delegate too!
People should also look into whats opening up soon. There are alot of elections that happen opposite of each other. So with that there are alot of seats up for election on all levels. I feel we should be putting political experience as a bad thing when running for an office or seat. We know now what the profressional politician gets us. I think we need to start putting real people back in office. We need more short term politicians. People in touch with the people. Not viewing the mass's!!!!
Shelly Im just gonna administer a dose of reality. The government doesnt give a damn about us and its too late for tea parties and all that. Maybe if we did it 10 years ago we couldve had a shot.
Its going to crash, theres going to be open tyranny. The best thing Americans can do is just get ready for the inevitable. Good luck though.
I'm not ready to give up on my country. I didn't enlist in the military, vote in every election and pay my taxes just to sit back and watch it destroyed. The Tea Party I attended back in April gave me some hope for 2010 and 2012 because my faith in the ballot box was about shattered in the last election as this nation carried out an exercise in mass stupidity the like of which I have never seen before. The question is, will those election come soon enough to undo some of the damage?
Sounds like the Tea Party movement

unless you can find a Jesus Christ or Buddha to run the country it's just going to be more of the same just under a different name and 99% of the people today are not going to be willing to listen to Jesus or Buddha
me2ontube 2 years ago
Frankly, I wouldn't listen to Jesus. Though his policies and rules are great for a single person, but it would be the equivelant of driving a steak through the heart of any powerful nation. Fortunately or otherwise, any nation which wishes to maintain any degree of strength must lie, cheat, steal, and kill. A good nation (like the US), simple has to do it quietly, and make it so that it can't be linked to them, or, better yet, it can be linked to somebody else.

i disagree - but i'm not interested in any debate
me2ontube 2 years ago
I mean no offense, but if you'll simply look at the records of every major senator, John McCain and Joe Bidden both included, and most minor senators, including Barrack Obama, you'll find a history of favoritism coinciding with campaign contributions and personal kickbacks.
Unilateralism 2 years ago 2
politician means liar, cheater, your basic scum - what's new

Exactly! There are maybe ten senators that aren't corrupt, don't take kickbacks, and only receive campaign contributions without prior arrangements, as a 'thank you.'

mikevanross69 2 years ago
Great idea Shelly. It sounds sort of like the "clean house" idea the republicans used to regain the majority in congress, but as you said supporting one party is just going to get us more of the same. I'd really like to get rid of the senators from my state, and with the low level of approval congress and the government in general have, now seems like an excellent time to do something like this.

Electing dogmatic, Constitution-worshiping paleoconservatives is not necessarily the kind of change I had in mind. No offense.
mistaspot1 2 years ago
what did you have in mind?
importsstillsuck 2 years ago
It's counter-intuitive to want to elect people that propose the preservation of the exact system that got us into this mess to begin with. We need to elect politicians that support things like campaign finance reform, and who want to outlaw lobbying, and instill protections in the system to make it more representative, like instant-runoff voting, public funding for campaigns, ballot initiative legislation, political anti-trust laws... the list goes on.
Rule #1: you don't go backwards.
mistaspot1 2 years ago
You have good points and I would agree with you 100%. We need to wake up and FIX the system that we have been given. Yes FIX meaning that the system we have is broken. If I had my way I would say we start over even as far back as the Constitution and looking over the basics first. It had flaws..... Face the facts learn fix what we can and move on
carguyinok 2 years ago 2
We are in this mess because we haven't been following the constitution.
importsstillsuck 2 years ago 2
No we're not. We're in this mess because the Constitution has flaws and people like you won't admit it. Why won't you admit it?
mistaspot1 2 years ago
like what?
importsstillsuck 2 years ago
It doesn't restrict campaign financing (which may soon become a big problem). It doesn't insure peoples' right to recall their politicians or pass laws by initiative. It doesn't mandate that all changes to the Constitution have to be authorized by the people via referendum, like South Korea's does. It doesn't adequately protect our right to privacy. It doesn't set term limits for Congresspeople. It doesn't put limits on the Federal Reserve. There's a lot of things it doesn't do.
mistaspot1 2 years ago
I would certainly agree that the Constitution is imperfect. It gives the government too much power. But the pols in charge now even go way beyond what it allows. So yes, simply following it would improve things.
Take for instance your concerns about privacy and the Fed. If we followed the Constitution, the former would be much less subject to violation, and we wouldn't even have the latter. Believe me, you would see the difference!
Then we could go on to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments.
RMMHS4RP 2 years ago
I think the government should have power, but I think the people should be the ones in charge via passing federal laws by initiative.
I don't support repealing the 16th amendment. Taxation is the life-blood of the nation, and the government should be able to tax some people more than others, when needed.
I'm glad that you admit to the constitution not being perfect. Most conservos assume that when libs say that they automatically mean the 2nd amendment. I couldn't care less about your guns.
mistaspot1 2 years ago
"Taxation is the life-blood of the nation."
Why I disagree:
1 - A nation is not a government, but a community of people, bound together by language and culture, who interact through the institutions of civil society, like voluntary organizations and the free market.
2 - Taxation is an inherently violent act which disrupts civil society.
3 - Most importantly, what gives anyone the right to take the fruit of another person's labor, regardless of his noble intentions?
Food for thought.
Peace

I've dealt with these issues with many people many times b4.
1. No government means no nation. Nation = nation-state. Nation-state = state. States require taxation. It's not coercive. It's society. It's the 1 thing connecting everybody. Otherwise, it would just be a bunch of people living near each other. You undervalue all the progress we have made in history.
The state is a saner institution/structure than private ones are.
mistaspot1 2 years ago
2. Taxation is not violent when states are voluntary. No one in their right mind actually advocates the abolition of all statehood. Is that seriously what you're advocating? Because that's an absurd insinuation and no one championing that can really be taken seriously. Civil society is in a constant state of injustice when there is no greater power governing it.
mistaspot1 2 years ago
3 - Well, I don't know if you're well-educated as to the theory behind contractarianism, but in a state of nature (non-statehood) it's just a war of all against all. So, no one has a right to anything and simultaneously everyone has a right to everything. Might makes right in this system. Statehood is supposed to be a collective ownership of a piece of land and an agreed-upon system of communication and governance on this piece of land. These contracts are supposed to expire, but they don't.
mistaspot1 2 years ago
socialism has FAR more flaws than the constitutional republic model. the score isn't even close. the contitutional model developed by our founding fathers is the best devised form of gov't ever recorded in history. if you think our country is in peril currently because our constitution was flawed from the beginning...... you would be walking around with your eyes closed.
tmac9938 2 years ago
I'm not talking about socialism. I'm talking about basic government services like those every nation in the world provides. The rest should be left to the private sector.

When cap and trade passes we will quickly go from recession to depression. That is the purpose of the bill. Take more disposable income out of the hands of a people who need to spend because 70% of GDP is consumer spending. We are going down fast and hard. Not sure we will have anything but martial law in 2010.

Can we survive until 2010?
When we get leaders in representing We The People, the first action item has to be to UNDO all the damage that's been done over the last few decades. Candidates must be willing to post their original birth certificates for all to see, and must pass an aptitude test that shows they are qualified and at least briefed on the NWO.
Great work, Shelly. You've got my vote should you decide to run. And, God willing, we'll survive that long.

Exactly. That's why we need to get rid of them and replace them with people who are wise to them and their games, and who know how to defeat them. the biggest problem is it takes vast fortunes from corporate world to out campaign the other two party's. Once you accept money from them they own you. We have to raise the money from the grass roots. then we have to run for the school boards, twp government, county government and state reps. Then we can move on to federal. Shelly, green is amazing on you. so is anything other color come to think of it.

You cant change the system the system changes you. Money is the Problem and we wont change that by resembling it.
BrainChild666 2 years ago
It's the winning attitude that your using that WILL INSURE things will never change. We can change this! But, we need to get on the same page! they keep us broken up in groups and picking sides. Lets just start with getting REAL PEOPLE in seats of pollitical power. Then worry about the smaller issues. We need people that will look at things from outside the the pollitical box. A person that would vote for a bill because it's worth while. Not because it will help them in the next election.
carguyinok 2 years ago 2

PleaseActNow 2 years ago
People should also look into whats opening up soon. There are alot of elections that happen opposite of each other. So with that there are alot of seats up for election on all levels. I feel we should be putting political experience as a bad thing when running for an office or seat. We know now what the profressional politician gets us. I think we need to start putting real people back in office. We need more short term politicians. People in touch with the people. Not viewing the mass's!!!!
