One of the big reasons Congress fails is because their measure of success is how much money they bring to their home districts. Money is not the solution to everything, and often times you need to make sacrifices in order to do the right thing.

Term limits would help. Why do we let our Congressmen raise money and campaign while they are supposed to be working for us. Why not 4 year congressional terms, then the Congressmen must sit out a minimum of one year and can't rerun for the same seat. If we combine congressional districts and have elections every year, it would be a continual changing congress. New ones from the controlling parties would have to come in and compete. The former ones could then come back after one year.

I think you're wrong there. Many more then a 'select few' can be placed in that category. In fact, most of the Senate regularly receives kickbacks from organizations and companies which they show favoritism towards (our current president among them). Now, there ARE only a 'select few' which can not be placed in that category (none of the more prominent senators come to mind). As far as Representatives are concerned, I can't say much, as I have much less knowledge about the House.

This is a good direction, and you're question is one that is answered by the men who originally conceived the idea of the American public school district. Then we could go on to repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments.

1. No government means no nation. Nation = nation-state. Nation-state = state. States require taxation. It's not coercive. It's society. It's the 1 thing connecting everybody. I voted for a 3rd Party in the 1996 and 2000 Pres election but to no avail. I agree whole heartily that Congress no longer serves the function it was intended by our Founders. Hell, the govt as a whole no longer serves the function it was intended but in order to find a viable 3rd Party I think we need to start at the local level but it's going to be hard to break the system as it's too well entrenched.
