I disagree, what he's done here is taken a totally unsecured firearm and placed it in the middle of his house. Not to mention the how akward and unsafe it is to remove from the book(some more small cutouts would make this problem much better) Now if there's no children thats a little better, but what about your buddies coming over one day? The only safe place is secured in a quick access safe, and even better is holstered and concealed on your body, then it's always an arms length away.

Well, i believe that you should always, teach your children about firearms and things that happen in real life, such as weapon saftey, whether it is knives, guns, or blunt weapons because if a child is tall enough to reach on a dresser they should understand that. Also, never keep a weapon loaded, meaning dont keep a round in the chamber. Last thing is, you should have friends you can trust to not dig around and mess with your stuff especially weapons. I do agree that the cutout should be bigger
