Having lived less than 5 minutes from Col. Parkers house in Madison for 40 years, I would have never guessed all this treasure trove of Elvis was in the residence. Had I known, I might have been trying to go through a back window! ; ) (only joking!...wouldn't want to get arrested!)
But, this is just fantastic....what history was stored there! Just jaw dropping! WOW!
Parker and RCA knew ELVIS' back catalog was worth much more than that. Three months after ELVIS' death RCA had sold over $200 million worth of recordings alone. ELVIS easily made over $1 billion in 1977. Compare that with the $310 million Michael Jackson's estate has made since his death in 2009.
Col. Parker could have managed anybody, including the Beatles but he always said he was ELVIS' manager. ELVIS had to be making a killing even in the years prior to his death for Parker to refuse to take on new clients. Parker evidently didn't need the money. I do question him selling the rights to ELVIS' recordings to RCA in 1976 for $5 million.
Like him or not, Tom Parker kept very well organized files on Elvis. Many years ago before he died he sold everything to Graceland. It´s unbelievable how he kept so much stuff during Elvis life. You´ll see in this rare video movie reels, promos, documents etc . Why Graceland keep us from so many unreleased material is beyond me . Enjoy this amazing video and hear for yourself how hard Tom Parker worked for Elvis as a manager!!
