  • Cok guzel:)

  • Wow, I came here just to listen to a nice Ehru song, and instead I learn about politics...

    Oh well

  • So beautiful.

  • differences of skin colors do not escape at least 4 truths - all are humans, all are born, all will die, all breathe air. will differences in skin color, or subjectivity, or tastes/preferences evade/escape/ignore/discriminate that 4 simple sample truths that 6 billions individuals share at this moment?

  • in China, there are dark skin, tan skin, and fair skin men n women. likewise, there are Moslem Chinese, Christian Chinese, Buddhist Chinese, Communist Chinese, Hindu Chinese, etc. music, on the other hand, is a universal language. even the black holes in the universe have a rhythm or rhythms of their own (which we have yet to capture). tastes/preferences are subjective, ergo, i see little to no good reasons to debate/argue over stuffs that have no objective substances.

  • man she is pale..not to many chinease people are this pale. but she does have beautiful facial features.

  • @MDefsquad9 um Asians think pale skin is beautiful and you say fair skinned. I think so too, that is why I try to wear sunscreen everyday.

  • @Dicestar5 i seen pale skin people that look sickly and some pale skin people who look glowy and smooth..so it all depends..hahaha your trying stay pale thats funny..a little tan is sexy! dont know what you talking about.lol I love tanned skin girls like brazilian girls and latinas..there the hottest women on the planet..asian chinease women are at the bottom at the list..and its not just the skin it the whole look.and im not talking about the mixed ones.

  • I think I will stick with the electric guitar...

  • If I could play 1/10 as good as she, I will be very very satsified. She belongs to the gods.

  • O_o what is she saying?!?!?!?!??!?!

  • Watch Song Fei on CCTV this morning. Awesome!

  • Sung is China's number chair in erhu. It is an honor to listen to her!

  • Does anyone know an English-speaking Erhu teacher in NYC area?

    Thanks

  • i love this instrument

  • Sorry, mistake on my part, the songs I'm looking for are as follows. "The Weeping River of Sorrow"

    "The mourning Song"

Both played at my Sifu's funeral

  • Is this the same song as "The Running River of Sorrow"?

  • I live in remote Jersey, no teachers, no DVD.

  • How do you go from lower octave to higher octave?

  • Its amazing the number of obtuse and thick-headed people we have in this world and thus in the internet. Do you guys come here to appreciate the videos you watch or pick on each other? If the latter, then go somewhere and fulfill your desire to bicker. But if the former, please post appropriate comments that relate to the video or otherwise keep your peace. As for the music, its beautiful...its amazing how much emotion and complexity can be conveyed utilizing such a simple instrument.

  • why do i see chinese women dominate playing this instrument? In the west, it is the male musican who plays the violin

  • We got better women, man!

  • these instruments, such as the pipa and etc are actually very male-intended instruments... most teachers and master of them are male... in olden ages, scholars played instruments.

Incidentally women also played but as time went on the amount of women playing became mroe than the men.

  • CHINA ROX!!

they are so advanced in their knowledge and past life experiences!!!

  • Thanks for teaching

  • china #1

  • chinese = perfect

    we will all die

we will only live if chinese help us with their knowledge

  • Also cuz of cheap labor.

  • lmao

  • Well you stole the ideas of government examinations, football and tea drinking from them not to mention the ranks of your peerage. It looks that YOU would die if the chinese didn't help or won't help YOU hahahahaha

  • very informative indeed! However to get it perfectly interpreted is not easy at all!

  • It would be so good to have subtitles on this... I'm just starting to play with one I got in hong kong and I could use all the info in the world :-)

  • You have one?

cool! is it easy to play?

    :D

  • its quite easy once u get the hang of it :l

  • A person who knows the erhu can learn the violin easily. But if you are a violinist, you have almost to learn the erhu from SCRATCH!

  • Hm, I would say its the other way around.

  • Secondly, the strings are about double the length of the violin which allows it more notes PER string than the violin which makes it convenient to get a higher note by going for the higher strings. This means that the fingering for the erhu is more challenging than the violin (because the fingering varies according to the position of your hand). Plus some other technical skills which you cannot practise on the violin because your bow is free and not between strings.

  • Well, I play both the erhu and the violin. And I can tell everyone here that the erhu is an exceptionally versatile instrument. For a start, the dual strings of the erhu never touches the neck of the instrument unlike the violin or cello. This character allows the notes to be varied according to the sensitivies of the finger pressure.

Xie-xie

  • muito interessante!!!

  • Poor quality, but she explain very very good

  • S = english spelling, Z = American spelling. ;) there's no wrong here.

  • It would be wonderful if any of you could add some english subtitles to thius video. Thanks!

  • awesome!

  • Magnificent!

  • Thanks for sharing. Truly a master.

  • Your lessons are fantastic Wei

  • Very lovely, thanks for sharing!

  • why is this erhu so small.... is this supposed to be like a mini-erhu....

  • yes

  • are there different sizaed erhu's?

  • The player really master this music to the max. of the music essence and the feeling of my ear and heart. The player is beautiful and elegent as well.

  • i wish there subtitles, i love this instrument, i am a violinist and am in love with this instrument, great playing

    ash

  • Me too. I love Erhu. You might want to check out Jia Peng Fang's album "Silent Moon". He's amazing!

  • It's a very haunting and enchanting sounding instrument to hear at the same time. Everytime I hear someone play a song on one, I get this sad, but very happy feeling inside.

  • i agree 100000%

  • Thanks master Erhu

I am in motreal- Canada, I hope to Chine visit you.

    ( master monochord-Danbau)

  • ni tai keqi le.

  • there r u dirty american i hate you i will play my die american song lol j/k seriously so dont TAKE IT SERIOUS!! lol

  • would love to see this with english subtitles or transcript

  • you know, i tried to learn this instrument and everyone i know, especially the natives just think "wtf are you learning that for?!" what is it with youngsters and pop culture these days? thing is, it's hard to find a teacher these days.

  • omg i know! these instruments are like becoming extinct and god knows why. they're absolutely lovely and make beautiful sounds.

  • Its called americanization, and its happining to all native cultural music which is not american influenced.

  • its the same thing with good kung fu. i blame the masters for not teaching their craft and if so its only half ass?

  • It's not Americanisation, it is globalisation. I am English and I play the Erhu and speak Chinese. I think we all have to embrace globalisation and make the most out of other cultures. I HATE the way Americans think they are responsible for the way the world is today...

  • hm, speaking about globalisation, you are maybe right... but have ever think that if there was no globalisation you maybe couldnt speak chinese and could not play erhu...? maybe not, i dont know... i study wushu and also think that there is a lot of problems caused by "globalisation"

  • well i hope you all won't really argue with me if i say that asian peaple are (and will be ver) the best at asian things...like language, culture, music (...) ...like europeans are best at making colonies and slaughtering innocent natives with the try to...well...bring them "civilization" ?

    well..sorry...bad joke...

human is human and i hope europeans don't think anymore that they are better humans because they are white and have potatoe eyes...

  • lol i won't really argue.. but that last thing.. you say "human is human" but after that you talk like europeans are different :P and even a funnier fact.. you are german, so you are european! hmm :P i agree that the asian music and culture is great.. but over here we have great artists to.. wheter you like their music or not ;)

  • well...then you havn't read my channel properly...i am only HALF german...the other half is south-korean!

  • yes i will argue with you because that's racist. i'm trying not to mouth you off; i shouldn't be too harsh because you're clearly utterly ignorant.

  • LOL..

  • @hotsexyboy1985 I'm American. I appreciate all cultures except for the ones that tell other cultures to be more cultured. i.e you. I wouldn't call a guy from England knowing a lot about Chinese globalization, although it is pretty neat that you can play the Erhu. What do you know about American culture besides obesity, hollywood, and the generalization that we think we are responsibility for the way the world is today?

  • @hotsexyboy1985 You speak of understanding and cultural openness and then you stereotype all Americans into a tiny group of like minded individuals.

  • the cover on the erhu is python skin - python = protected animal.

  • There are hundreds of species of python in the world. Not all of them are protected. How do you know which species this comes from ?

  • pythons are bred in captivity for their skins.

  • DAMN STRAIGHT!

    FIGHT THE POWER!

  • she doesnt play this as well as how min hiu fen does.

  • Very impressing skill with deep expression techni. Thank you for her sharing.

  • she plays beautifully, and looks beautiful too. She is so young! I hope to see her in a concert.

  • song fei is indeed a talented musician. It will be many many decades before we see another like her.
