I'm an indie/alternative artist and fashion student at LA's FIDM. I love linking fly people with fly opportunities. I think you'd really like this new innovative platform for designers to submit their work for possible manufacturing. Velvet Brigade dot com

  • what sort of pen is she using becasuse i am 14 and im practicin drawing my croquis as well but i would just like to know what sort of pen she is using so maby my sketches will come out a bit more better.

so if someone could please tell me then that would be great thank you

  • she's using a Sharpie extra fine point permanent marker.

  • Vair helpfull im only 12 and ive got my heart set on fashio :P

  • Great, helped me alot .

    Im only 13 Though .

    =]

  • Thats really good that you're learning this at the age of 13 because if you decide to go to fashon school, by that time your sketching skills in fashion will be really good! and you would have more of a feel of how you draw out your clothes! So thats really good you're learning how to do this now :)

  • im 13 also (going on 14 on december) and i have the same passion lol its just i would never hurt an animal to make a jacket, scarf etc.

  • cool, easy and simple way but im into detailed illustration so it took me like 1 to 3 hours before i finish one ilustration

  • This is one awesome video. Very helpful.

Now, all I need is inspiration. ^^

  • The main thing to remember about fashion sketches is not to get too caught up in making the body look "good" or "right." The focus of the sketch is the clothes, not the model.

  • Well I learnt a model body in sketches have to look good also, maybe not 100% atonomy right, but it has to have great shapes that fit the outfit, since big designers base the sketched model on a real life model that has the same body as the sketch.

  • @TheSarahsaurusRex Excuse me, who asked you?

  • @TheSarahsaurusRex But one stillhas to learn to scatch body to get to know the right "parameters"... no? :-)

  • heyy nice video ... it helped heaps

  • i love to make my own things XD homemade!! XD

  • thats cool and i love it, and i enjoy to do that

  • I rather use pantone markers than color pencils but thats up to the designer, you can mix too.. the length of the body should be 12" in length

  • Would it be wrong to use "anime/manga" type drawings for fashion sketches?

  • nah, i do it :P

  • I wouldn't think so. Some of my friends do that...

  • Love the scetch, Shes really good at it!

One day I hope i'll be as good as that!

    lol xx

  • Hey Threadbanger. i am an art mager in iceland. i am designing clothes and stuff like that. but the problem is that, i know i can draw but not like the woman in the video. so i was thinking if there are some sites, magazines or something like that , that can help me design with more fashion-sence :] i would be really thankfull.

    Best wishes from iceland

    -Rósa: Rose

  • I always want to be a fashion designer and this ep helped me

  • Goldey3000: I admire your enthusiasm, but just remember this. Fashion design is one of the hardest industries to get into. There is always going to be someone out there that is better than you. If you think by taking art classes is going to make you the next Oscar De La Renta, think again.

And does anyone know the colored pencils she is using? they apply amazingly! and the colors are just so tone.

  • Probably Prismacolor.

  • can yall please visit my website i would really appreciate it . its all about fashion fashionablespot .webs. com

    and tell yall friends

  • oh god, I so thought they were going to play 'Closer' by NIN @ 0:32 D:

my heart was in my mouth lol

  • she makes it seem a lot easier than it is.

  • the have the wooden manaquins at IKEA- for like 5 bucks!!!

  • wow.

  • what kind of paper is the lady using when she is sketching?

  • Whatever it is it's relatively fine toothed and light weight. A fine toothed sketch paper would work nicely for this. Nothing fancy. for practice use printer paper. It's not archival, but it's cheep and would do the job. For anything you want to keep, use archival paper.

  • i wanna be a fashion desiner so badly omg my mtspace page iz full of fashion only fashion i already applyed for F.I.T(fashion institue of technology) im already taking art classes to know how o draw well so i could design if i became a designer i would be making millionz or more

  • focus on why you love it instead of what you could get out of it

    keyword= could. success isn't promised, sweetheart '3'

  • i will like to be a fashion designer one day , if i can xD

  • Love this episode! Now I feel better about wanting to be a fashion designer.

  • Good information on fashion

    great design

    good for beginners

  • that was awesome... that lady was great and so nice :)

  • i know i inspire her now

  • thanx a lot

  • great video, the lady was very sweet and informative... but those fabrics sucked! ;-)

  • Great videos

  • really cool tips, i actually draw with many details, so , it kind of oppened my ayes about how importan simplicity is ... i`ll keep trying, and let`s see what happen

    thanks guys!

  • Excellent job on the pattern sketching video, thanks. I appreciate how you all are upbeat while staying informative and concise.

  • I want to know, how do you fashion sketch for guys?

  • I also want to know this

  • Honestly guys fashion sketches arent that much harder. a fashion sketch should be about 9 heads tall ::meaning however large you make the head of the sketch, 9 of them should equal the total height of the sketch::. make the shoulders more broad ::2 heads Long::, and make the waist less curvy and lower down.

  • LOL just like im in school. I'm an art student. i draw 24/7

  • This was awesome, thanks so much =)

  • hey threadbanger my B-day Is coming up in july and my mom said she buy me a threadbanger sewing machine. but I dont know which one I want & will work for me. so can you guys do a show on both machines and how to use them please. Thank you. Midori Starr on the forms.

  • i so love you guys right right now (not that i didn't before!). i've always been iffy about how i love sewing, but i can't really draw.

by the way, i have some simplicity design packs, from a second hand store. i love that company!

  • i love it

  • Very good tutorial, even though I already knew most of this. Cute designs too

  • This video was good. I just recently took to drawing again and it's nice to have a video where I can get some pointers.
