i'm having a problem with paint consistency. what ratio should i apply on tamiya acrylic / thinner. and also, my base coat is ok, i use tamiya surfacer, but when i apply the acrylics(by airbrush), the paint chips off really easy. help please!
@bling989 Try to degrease your parts by washing them in soapy water (using "washing up liquid") and clean parts under running water. Let parts air dry completely before applying a primer coat and THEN start applying your model paints! -Basic knowledge!!!!
to add what i just said. I noticed he is using zippo lighter fluid as the thinner. This works really well but you have to be twice as careful not to remove the base colors.
MAN!! he's so good, on part 3:14 where he use the brush to drip the black color onto the panel line. What sort of color does he use, is it thinner based? and was it water that he used to wipe out the black dots? won't the white color get rubbed away too? SOMEONE please help i've been trying to figure this out for sometime now
its heavly thinned acrylic paint. usually a 70/30 mix. 30 being paint. You then go back and wipe off the excess with acrylic thinner. if your careful and dont rub alot you wont remove the surrounding paint. You can also use enamal paint to do the weathering.
when the acrylic dries, water will just rub off, it's waterproof. the thin black acrylic can just be wiped off before it has cured. paint dries, but can still be dissolved a little. when it has cured it can only be removed by chemicals or by scalding it with near-boiling water, which is not advised.
@UTTO05 it's enamel. The colors underneath are acrylics/ lacquers. You can always paint on top of anything with enamels, but you can't put other sorts of paints on top of enamels except other enamels. He uses zippo fluid to thin the enamels for his wash because he says it reacts less than enamel thinners. This is how you can do washes/ panel lining without worrying about the underlying layers of paint.
please help me out here, how does he get the decals printed? where can i get some and where can i get the special water sticker paper stuff? thanks in advance, 5/5
You need to find a model shop that sells the paper. Unfortunately, it is pretty pricy if you don't have an ALPS printer (which you probably don't). There are several resources online if you just google them.
you rock

before that, to make sure that it works, they go around the edges with a knife, to make it deeper

Look for model shops that specialize in military vehicles, and you'll probably find some.
