  • how did you get it to burn faster than the mix strait from the ball mill?

  • @05you2

hi - by moistening the mix with a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol (until it has a consistency of dough) and pressing it through a stainless steel screen kitchen strainer it "granulates" the powder - providing foor a much faster burn.

  • How does it do if you exclude the Dextrin?

  • Hi! Is meal powder faster than the granulated one?

  • NEEED HELP i have made some black powder but when i light it it just sparks away slowly and doesn't go in one big POOF

    PLZZZZZZ HELPPPP

  • @95shameless Hi, the problem seems to be you have a bad charcoal or that you don't ball mill it enough. Hope that helps :)

  • @2211skatepark What would you call bad or good charcoal?

  • @95shameless same problem, did ou figure it out yet?

  • @95shameless Same here, do you use Dextrin btw? w w w.musketeer.c h/ index.html Try this it's a super good site for the stuff, correct the url though ;)

  • Is it legal to make fireworks in WA without a 1.3 license? (As long as the fireworks I make fit local laws.)

  • how many hours did you mill it?

  • Is that a ballmill in the background?

  • @PyroCube - it is indeed a ballmill :)

  • skylighters charcoal isnt the greatest so its better to make your own charcoal and use softwoods such as balsa or even tissue

  • The reason why it burns faster is, that flames can shoot throught the gaps between the granules and ignite other ones that are further away.

This way, a granule doesn't have to burn all the way through for the ones behind it to ignite.

If you pile up fine BP, the reaction-front has to travel all the way from the top to the bottom, because no gaps exist there.

  • That's a big surprise to me! i thought the granules would burn slower because it has less surface area per volume?

  • no the reason why it burns faster is that more oxygen can get to it,there for faster burn rate

  • @ladedk The granules got more surface area per volume. When the granule catch fire the whole thing bursn pretty quick, and with the bigger surface area the granule catch fire quicker,

  • check out some of mine, looks like that will do great in shells

  • Very good BP hope to see some shells lifted with that!!
