I have a mouse house with about 80 colonies 1-6 an half 1-4 I'm having trouble with the Ac clogging up with ammonia, I keep the room at 70, do you have the same problem I've been doing this for a year this month I love it all but the Ac problem any suggestions on what to do, I'm in central Florida an it's very hot an humid.
@docjman1 It is hard to keep your coils clean... The ammonia will eat through the copper...There is nothing really you can do... you can clean your coil regularly but, it will still get a leak... We sell a/c units to a business that has high ammonia levels... They change units every couple years...
hi, if you could send me a message on how to build that type of rack, the one thats 3 across and 6 down, i would really appreciate it, and tell me about how much it would cost to build that
@TheAnimalLoverBffs1 If your parents don't want you to have a rodent room... You should honor their wishes. They are alot of work and they really smell. I park my cars about 30 feet from my mouse room... You can smell them... If you keep the pan kept clean it isn't too bad but, they still smell. I would not put a room in your house. I have a snake room that have a couple racks for rats... You have to have a really good exhaust system or the smell will go through your house...
@Docking23 I disagree with that statment. If you do alot of research into breeding them there are a few tricks to reducing the smell. I personally breed in my house, with minimal smell. There still is a smell, but it is greatly reduced compared to when i started. I use a mixture of recycled newspaper, soil, and hay. This lasts me a week without an issue. Pine shavings are horrible for the animals and suck at odour control.
@Docking23 The soil provides a place for urine and waste( they still crap in other palces) but most of the feces is done in the soil, and almost all urination is done in the soil. The hay is provided as a odour controller, as that is the main smell you get when you open their cages. They also eat and make bedding from hay, so it is muti-purpose. They recycled newpaper is for bedding, and just for their entertainment.
@myanimalchannel2812 I do not seperate them. I keep 1.5 or 1.6 in the bin. By seperating them out you would cause additional stress and production would drop.

I envy you. :) Awesome setup. I wish that I could get my rodents out of my garage and into their own little shed.

@Bizarre179 Well it was either the rodents get their own shed or I build me a new place to sleep :)
