Because they made 12 million copies, LOL. More even that the total number of Atari 2600's @ the time. Also, it was such a piece of crap from a "trusted" (Atari) name. With everybody & his brother (even Purina Pet Food Co.) making overpriced/poor quality games & flooding the market, people got sick of it & stopped buying games/consoles. That was in 1983 & caused "The Great Video Game Crash of 1983". The market was stagnant & the entire gaming industry near death, until rescued by Nintendo.

Actually Combat came with all the systems for a while. Pac-Man came out 5 years after the 2600 came out, so it didn't get sold as a pack-in for quite a while, most probably near the end of 1982.

PacMan was often sold together with the console, so it shouldn't be in this list at all. The 3 most awesome games in this list, are PitFall, Missile Command and Cosmic Ark. And Adventure is decent. The rest ranges from mediocre to total crap. I have way better Atari games than that.

Read what he says ''Games that shipped over 1 million copies''. With E.T. and PacMan several millions were shipped... only to be returned again... XD The title clearly says ''Best Selling Games...'', that is not the same as ''Best Games'', because otherwise this would be the stupidest list I've ever seen! Many of these games suck donkey balls!

Why, because somebody on G4 said so? The fact of the matter is that they are far worse games on the Atari 2600 alone. Anybody who thinks E.T. is the worst game obviously hasn't played many Atari games.

Go play Strawberry Shortcake, Robin Hood, A-Team, Sneak-n-Peak, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre... and get back to me. And I'm just scratching the surface here.
