There was nothing backhanded about it. It was a forehanded slam. In his entire career, he had 5 seasons that were +.500 and only 2 where he managed to get above a .900 save percentage. He just wasn't a great goalie. He simply went on a really good hot streak for the 94 playoffs. really, it's ok to be a mediocre goalie and have a great playoff run.

A lot of Edmontonians would agree that Vancouver is a better city in a lot of ways, maybe except for longer commutes, but there's no denying that Edmonton is one of the most hockey proud cities in the NHL and we love our Oilers, regardless of their... horrible.. season last year... ...and this year so far lol. Mclean had the series of a lifetime in 94, but he wasn't a really great goalie. He let in so many soft goals where he just didn't move. He was kind of frustrating to watch.
Two series really stand out in my mind for the drama of the finals: Canucks Rangers in 94 and Flames Lightning in 04. There have been other 7 game series, but most don't turn into the all out wars these two series were.

There was nothing backhanded about it. It was a forehanded slam. In his entire career, he had 5 seasons that were +.500 and only 2 where he managed to get above a .900 save percentage. He just wasn't a great goalie. He simply went on a really good hot streak for the 94 playoffs. really, it's ok to be a mediocre goalie and have a great playoff run.

that was an amazing run, i was REALLY young but i remember it perfectly, all our neighbors and us had canucks posters in our livingroom windows.people were in the streets with flags and signs the bars were packed. we deserved that cup.. the rangers played great hockey though. this reminded me of pavel pure too, he was such an exciting player to watch-too bad about his knee he coulda been something great.u know i dont care if they never win a cup as long as they play exciting offencive hockey
