so let me get this straight. a knife that is designed to operate via your thumb is perfectly legal, but a balisong is illegal because it can be 'quickly manipulated by a single hand'???
Just picked mine up yesterday, I agree that the fact that it gets easily damaged sucks, I'm glad Cold steel used such a light, soft aluminum for the handle, There could be worse steels to use. On the subject of it being a bad knife? I disagree. It's a pioneer design on a loophole that allows average joes to have a neat play knife, It was never really produced in super large amounts and on top of that its discontinued. I'm proud to own an Original Triple action and cannot wait for improvements.=D
Great video. I had an incredibly hard time finding one of these for sale online and the lady from CS I talked to just recently said they've never really put these out in any volume and they are completely discontinued. Sucks because it's a really cool knife and a ton of websites still have it listed for sale, but won't actually sell it to you. What's the point of having a website if you don't keep it updated?
Actually even having it on you is ok. Its completely within my legal rights in California. I checked and made sure. In fact, you can even buy them here at Malls.
Mother's Aluminum polish can brighten up that handle again. Looks like the inside of the flip handle could use a delrin strip on the inside to protect itself from the tip of the blade. Good review, I was curious and now I know it's not worth the money. Looks like it might be fun to play around with for novelty though. If I find one for cheap I can use it for a toy. Thanks again!
From my understanding of the law, the single sided knife. (Tanto Tip). The double edge is a little tricky depending on city. If an officer were to ask you about the knife, just show him how to open it with the thumb stud.
Yeah, I was naive and gave into the hype of the knife. I called up Cold Steel and they said that they can't service it because it's "Misused" I've been reluctant of CS since then :/
I don't think CS would service it for you but you can try. At the most you can just tighten it yourself. Again, I've realized that the aluminum handles are not as strong so I would like them to be when it came to tightening them.
Balisongs are illegal to carry, not own. I live in CA. Check my vids.

Must SUCK to live in California. Stupid liberal state. That knife is a piece of shit anyway. Any good knife has a carbon steel blade.

The blade is good. It's VG-1 Steel. The design is what sucked the most D:
