  • Are you mental?? That isnt a 10 pound guitar..

  • Can also get nylon washer at hardware store for 20 cents and cut a slot in it or use a rubber washer/seal from a Grolsch beer bottle top. I use the rubber Grolsch bottle seal and just leave the straps on my guitars. They never fall off.

  • Wouldn't one of those plastic square shape locks that comes in a loaf of bread work as well? Just slips right on and holds the strap in place. No cutting with scissors or making holes with a knife. Its already to use out from the bag.

  • or you can get a 5/16 rubber washer

  • Wow, I've never seen someone misspell the word "enough", or at least not that bad... (Description.)

  • Lol but it took me 30 min

  • Yeah!!!!!! Works perfectly!!! Thanks!!!

  • legend.. legendlegendlegend!!

    best idea :)

  • metal beer caps work best with 3" screws

  • Genius... just genius...

  • Thanks for the tip, I had the Dunlop strap locks on my Les Paul bass and I play at an extreme angle compared to the lock and even the strap lock fell off on me on stage. Eventually I had to superglue the two pieces together to make them stay on! next time, I'm using a metal washer like what Cliff Burton used on his basses!

  • 2 Lipton green tea bottle tops = 2 fully functional strap locks... Works great, thanks for the tip

  • this is good for puting on your back walking to downtown then play for money :)

  • i tried out this one on my lp standard, it works great!, check my blog as well

  • A bottle cost money it isn't free

  • I would send that to some movie festival, like Sundance, definite winner!!!

  • Good video and nice idea. Basically, you've made a customised, plastic 'C' clip. One problem - the only bottles I drink from have corks..! [chortle]

Nevertheless, I'll give it a go, when I get a bottle cap big enough.

  • Nothing against you, but I kinda wanted to see the guitar fall lol. Thanks for the vid though, this is actually really useful and I'll have to try it out.

  • Awesome does it work for guitar swings????

  • It isn't fr

  • What's that for a guitar?

  • Nice!!

  • I have a bottle cap but my bottle is not empty? what should i do?

  • @deathxdance empty the bottle?

  • @deathxdance lol! bring it to me! i'll drink it...

  • @deathxdance Damn man, that's a good question. Good thing my bottle is empty, I wouldn't know what to do. D:

  • you crafty SOB!! awesome man

  • lol that happens to me but thats why i do a little trick its hard 2 explain

  • Thats ace dude, I thought I was the king of cheap using some 1" fibre washers from a hardware shop for 10p each but you made one from shit I throw away everyday.

You're king of the wombles dude ;0)

  • I think there are like more than 10 different ways to secure the strap without having to spend like 15$.

    This is one of them.

    Great tutorial. Thanks.

  • Sorry for the late reply man....They work out great Bro!! Awesome cheap alternative \m/

  • i got another good idea: just take the rubber ring of an beer bottle and flip it over your normal strap pin just like the way the dude in the video and it really keeps your strap nice and tight :)

  • im trying to make a cheap one so i can flip it,

    are these reliable enough?

  • @collinallenparishute I have had those on since I made this video a never once have they failed. I'm more scared of the strap braking.. I've broke one strap and tore most of the way of 2 others, And saw a strap brake at a local concert .

If you test them good yes... I've flipped my guitar a in the video a few times with them. The last time I did, I hit something and put a small crack in the neck. I wouldn't suggest flipping. They are in a way free and simple to make doesn't hurt to try one. =]

  • I used a plastic card like a credit card it works for now i'm not sure if I trust it yet thanks for the awesome bottle cap trick I'm sure I will do that when I am out of cards

  • @rockexpert It doesn't take much to hold a strap on.. bottle caps may be overkill! On 2nd thought over kill in keeping a strap on may be a good thing. Ha.. How is the Thinner plastic cards working?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • I've used duct tape!!! lol

  • wow, that really works!

    also, nice guitar and trousers!

  • @DevilDoll95 Just trying to help people out. thanks For the comment! Got to love making Videos in your pj's. lol

  • how skint can you get?

  • nice 1 dude

  • To działa

  • dude thank you so much man saved me 20 bucks lol ocean spray locks

  • ok... now spin it haha

  • This is cool, I'm gonna try it

  • So simple, yet so INGENIOUS! Dammit! I thought Einstein died. But, he lives, and he just made this video!

  • So simple, but so INGENIOUS! damnit. i thought Einstein died. But, he lives, and he just made this video!

  • Thanks dude!!

my input of my guitar just broke..lol

and my in/output calbe is broke to...

it fells on the ground and broke..

    Thank you very much!!

  • @christian coker1 exactly, Thank you. lolz you could use a black cap off a gatorade! maybe I need to make one in real time, on cam the whole time, in the open, with a clock and a stop watch in view the entire video .

  • yes that happened to me today

  • could just buy the plastic dunlop ones for like £3.00. looks alot better than a painted bottle top

  • they dont work

  • @bojjob77 Some ppl have trobble makeing them. mine have never let me down, sorry your haveing trobble =/... make sure you followed my instrutions closely, if there not made right they will not work right, And "make sure you test it befor you go crazzy" =]

  • GREAT IDEA!!!. You could also do this by buying two delrin washers from a hardward store (75 cents for two) and simply cutting a slot from the side of them using wire cutters. This was a great idea. Thanks!!

  • That is a great idea! Ha I may try that out. and see whats better.. Thank you for shareing your Idea. =]

  • I did do this (bought delrin washers), and it has worked flawlessly. They are stiff and hard to get on into place, but then, that is the idea of straplocks anyway. They cost 24 cents each, so they're pretty cheap, yet nice looking (I bought black delrin washers).

  • i have a question.

how does a green with black bottle cap change into a purpel and black strap lock?

    anyone know?

    he replaced it.its fake

  • I say the same

  • Its not fake you idiot, he had one already made.

  • if you watch carefully he leaves the green one on that plate and pickus up another one

  • I admit I dropped the green one,it fell under the recliner I was using as a table.. so I picked up the one I have been using for months and put it on the guitar for the demonstration. my apologies... It was made the exact same way. I assure you this is not fake.. I now have the green strap lock I made in this video on my strat. it works just as well.

  • FUKK YEAH! YOU RULE MAN!

  • @robinfinity late reply I know but... Glad i could help. haha how did they work?

  • @Ben8nz they work just fine, but I would recommend that everyone test them first, 'cause the quality can differ depending on how they are made (and also the bigger the strap button the better).

BTW, I used Mountain Dew caps, cause once the logo peels off they are all black :)

Thanks for the ideea again ;)

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great idea man!! I'm gonna be rockin' some diet coke strap locks pretty soon here ;)

  • :):):)

  • @sonicdistortions lol how did they work out bro?

  • Awesome Idea! saved me 15 bucks (well I actually had to go buy some sodas to get bottle caps lol) and it works!

  • Thanks man.

  • hey! good idea.

  • thanks :$:$:

  • Hey, thanks alot, yesterday i was on an audition, and before that my strap failed twice, and once my bass touched the floor :(

    Im doing that right now
