Great video!!! The term "living document" refers to the fact that the Constitution can be added to or changed to reflect current society. But the changes are only to occur to the Amendments to the Constitution. The founding fathers made the Bill of Rights to be static. Meaning no changes! The founding fathers knew about freedom more than you and I, remember they actually lived through tyranny.
I've read that there isn't a "right to vote" as far as presidents go. I think the state is who decides if people can vote for a pres., but I don't think people have ever not been given the choice so far.
In 2000 FL hired a company in TX, choicepoint to compile a list of "convicted felons" who weren't eligible to vote.Choicepoint said our list is 80% inaccurate.67,000 were registered democrats, mostly black and latino on this list which were not convicted felons. Not allowed to vote.(summarized)In 2004, Ohio happened - another major voter disenfranchisement, that time huge media blackout but yes, voters who waited 4 hours in the cold rain were not allowed to vote.(summarized for character count)
the thing that stinks is that he is a former supreme court justice-thereby credible. He has spoken and toured across the country and a lot of the time there have been protestors outside. The bad part is, is that he is talking to acadamia about it and they are the future and if his provoking thoughts get into the minds of people my age and younger, the next leaders, only God knows what happens to the country then.
My sources are off to the right in more info. The University Websites. I came across the protests in my research. I am sure if you search for the protests, you will find it. But I recall a quote of something like, "Scalia no! Constitution yes!" If you look I am sure you will find what they say. Sometimes it happens after his speech.

by this statement, "The founding fathers knew about freedom more than you and I, remember they actually lived through tyranny."
To me that says they knew more about oppression and gaining freedom....but not necessarily living through freedom and with it.

I don't think that guy knows what he's saying as far as taking away rights when they're inalienable. :)

What do the protesters say? Is he talking to academia about the protesters or about what you said he said in the video?
I think just going back to writings of the founders to support inalienable rights (if there are any about that subject), that would help a lot.

cool vid. the constitution is the base on which America is founded. They are trying to minimize its relevance.

The Constitution, I hope that one day that we don't dream of freedom of speech..The constitution to me is a living document
This is one of your best vids yet!! Great Job..keep creating

Our constitution is more sacred than any religious text. In the last 50 years, it has been basterdized
Beadbud5000 3 years ago 5
lol"basterdized" I think you did something there that I enjoy doing all the time and made up a word...Yeah Beadbud5000!
Rosetteismyname 3 years ago
i don't think that person made that up. i think i heard that term years ago. :)
FateEternal 3 years ago
i was reading something earlier tonight and saw that word, although I think it was "bastardization." :)
