@Putonyoursunglasses No, these old Rolexes have acylic crystals, opposed to the modern ones which have scratch proof sapphire. The benefit of acrylic is that they it is extremely easy to remove scratches. I removed the scratches from this crystal a long time ago with a product called Polywatch. The crystal is now, excuse the pun, crystal clear. I never bothered to re-take the video.
@irocz0r hey you taught something didn't know that ! i'm kinda new with watches it's my new obsession lol i bought my first watch like last month and it's a frederique constant slimline !!! thanks
@shinydoorknob85 This video used to autoplay on my page, and I got tired of hearing that same techno beat every time I went to my page. So I changed it. I thought a classical tune would be befitting, and it also stopped auto-playing, so it's win-win.
Since you have a very expensive watch there (all original by the way) why don't you spend $10 in poliwatch or toot-paste and work on the crystal to give it the look it deserves?
The crystal has flaws, but it is in far from 'horrible' condition. But when I get around to turning around this watch, it will be replaced with an authentic piece. As for being overpolished, it must be the lighting. I am proud to say this watch has not been polished once since 1972. Polishing a vintage watch like this one often only decreases its value.
A genuine rolex bezel cost next to nothing, about 300NOK= aprox 46$, and I guess the dealer attach it for free. Otherwise I'm pretty sure you can get a good deal on a used one. Anyways nice watch
To the best of my knowledge the authentic vintage bits I'm missing run between $200 and $400 USD. But if I come across something for that price, I won't ask questions!
isn't the glass suppose to be scratch proof ?

What a beautiful watch. One of the most gorgeous watches in the world. 1680. You should get it shined up, and buy a ceramic bezel for it?

Brother, I found this aftermarket that's pretty good, except for the insert, for 130 on ebay. Item # 310151657928
It is the best price that I've seen so far.
Good luck and wear it in health.

Just something random I found with Audioswap to make the video a bit more interesting. Rolexes don't tick very loud. :)

Long gone I'm afraid. I've been constantly aspiring for a replacement, but the imminent restoration is not a financial priority at the moment.
And thank you, the face is indeed a beaut.
