While we were traveling it must of been 3 in the morning my dad put this on. He thought everyone was a sleep, i was awake he didn't know. But what stuck with me was that harden, sad face when he was listening to it. I knew then that my dad was really heartbroken over his dad passing, though he is the type to never show emotion... This song brings back a lot memories

The part about buying me a ball but not willing to go throw it with me is something that would happen to me. He retired and he was the one who moved away and I wasn't their the day he died. I am so like him in the way he was so pessimistic as I am as well. Not likely I will ever have a child but I hope I can break that cycle if it ever happens.

Kracker's song is so much fun to listen to because we often associate music to a time in our lives, or to people we know. It depends mostly on your experiences growing up, but I like the song mostly because I remember hearing it during high school, dances, social events, etc.

I like Kracker's song more because of all the good times I had in middle and high school. "Cats in the Cradle" is a good song, but it reminds me of how much like my dad I am. D'oh! LOL

Harry Chapin's song is pretty personal; it was written by his wife and himself. That makes it all the more sad. Uncle Kracker's song is reminiscent of both itself (or just any rock and roll song you really like). Both songs have social elements that apply to us all.

Chapin's song is astoundiong mostly because it is true. Many people grow up so much like their parents. They have the same speech patterns, mannerisms, beliefs, habits, looks, etc.
