@TiagoTiagoT what kind of news? :) We are not doing this client full time. I did build 0.2.x Naali to the N900 but nothing newer than that. This gave me texture cache that dropped the world loading to about 25-30 secs so its leaps and bounds faster than what you see on this video. And there is new UI for N900. I also built Naali to run on a MeeGo device, maybe we will do more work there in the future as at least the device I had the pleasure working with was very much faster than the Nokia N900.
Because we have not packaged this in any way. We would need to package all the deps (poco, ogre, freeimage, zzip, xmlrpc-epi etc.). Lots of deps and havent had time. I have made a static build zip that you can run and get this running on you N900. I could release it some day in maemo.org or something.
@TiagoTiagoT Caching is for textures, meshes, material scripts etc. Prim data is still gotten via udp world updates as usual. I have updated the N900 client now that this audi world loads completely in about 25 seconds. It's based on a newer naali codebase that has my improved texture cache. Should make a new video of it, its quite alot faster.
@hugo2biwan there has been talks that we could try to push this to ovi store for everyone to get. This may just take some time. When we have our mac build in an ok state we can possibly start looking at the iPhone version. Will be very hard though if there is no Qt, lots of code to rewrite.
dude i dont know any codes stuff or technical things but that looks really amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELL this even looks like GTA:SA (btw: its not possible to play SA in n900 right ?? right ?? please ??? )
anyway wayy to go dude

btw, is it still compatible with LL's grid?

btw, how does the cache system deals with prims being changed, things rezzing etc? Or the cache is just for the textures like on the regular client?

Why would loading the images be so bad? The browser does it much faster, no? Is the problem that jpeg2000 is so much harder to interpret in ARM?

fantastic stuff, work really well once loaded.
An Android version would be fantastic
