damn, i remember watching (and liking) this back in the 2nd grade back in '78. it was 1 of my favorite shows. i wonder is this is available on dvd....
Oh my Gawd!!! i thought i had never ever seen a cartoon called Sinbad Jr. so i forever dismissed it. and by accident opening a bunch of youtube windows i got this one and immediately recognized the melody and opening. i must have watched this when i was a kid but not the actual show, just the opening over and over because i can only remember the theme. Thanks!!
I am 49yrs old and I remember this like it was yesterday. I just went back to my childhood sitting in front of the t.v. in the morning with a bowl of cereal.I dont know whether the cartoons or the back of the cereal box was the best. Those were the good old days=Winchel Mahoney, gigantor, hobo kelly, all hanna barbera, felix the cat,gumby,3 stooges, kimba, speed racer, even wonderama on sundays. I can go on and on. This crap these kids are lookintg at today is of no comparison!!!
They used to play this on "Wonderama" (anyone?) and yes, I too have had this song stored on my mental hard-drive for...40 years (?!). I guess it'll now take another 40+ to get it out of my head again!! (Maybe the Alzheimers will speed the process)
Yep, that sounds about right, Steve. I believe American-International had some reservations about the quality of Singer's episodes, and brought H-B in to fulfill the remainder of the contract.
Hey, I think I saw that belt advertised on an infomerical with Chuck Norris and Karina from DWTS. Yeah, pull it tight and see all the muscles develop. Only three easy payments of $29.99...
@me373 If I still had the resources to tape it for you I would.I'm sorry to say I don't.I still got the album though. The last time I listened to it was in 2002.Yes I'm still a kid at heart.
This was produced by Hanna-Barbera for American-International Television in 1965. About half the episodes were produced by H-B; the rest by Sam Singer's ["BUCKY & PEPITO", "COURAGEGOUS CAT & MINUTE MOUSE"] production outfit.

That is one long gang plank,..> ..it gives our hero of the 7even seas to look at his belt pull it and presto BAngO.. grabs a yard arm swings into a TRAPEZE drop kick Awsome!..
This is just scary. I'm 46 and remember the opening tune so well. I remember my brother and I putting on one of dad's leather belts and pull it tight then kick the crap out of each other. Every little piece of this animated opening tune is burried somewhere deep in my brain and re-experiencing it is awesome. Thanks!
@nongthip , I know what you mean I'm 42 and I remember this show it was allways tucked deep in the back of my mind over the yrs and I would remember the tune. I'm glad to have found it on youtube.
This was one of my favorite cartoons back in the early 70s. I had forgotten about it completely until just this morning when I was getting dressed. I put on my belt and tightened it a little too much. What popped out of my mouth at that moment was the line, "Sinbad the Sailor! A magical belt has he..."
Thanks for posting this Muttley. 'Tis a shame that there isn't a collection of these available on Netflix. Hopefully a few episodes will at least surface here on Youtube.
The song was echoing in my ears for more than 35 years and i could not figure out what the lyrics really is. Now I see and hear it again. Thanks for posting this up.
Yes, it was none other than Mel Blanc himself. He did character voices in several of Hanna-Barbera's cartoons including Mr. Spacely from 'The Jetsons', Barney Rubble from 'The Flintstones' and that long-tailed agent, Secret Squirrel.
Wrong! Hanna-Barbera's shows were distributed by Screen Gems from 1957 to 1965 (ironically, Screen Gems orininally the name of their animation unit). The first H.B. show distributed by Screen Gems was "Ruff 'N' Reddy", and the last was "Jonny Quest". However, Columbia did distribute H.B.'s "Loopy De Loop" theatrical cartoons (their last attempt at making theatrical cartoons before going into features.
i have the complete collection of this cartoons they are 56 episodes, i might going to post it , i just start to think in that but , does anybody think that is good idea?
Forever ago, when I was a child, I LOVED the "Sinbad (jr) the Sailor" catoons. It seemed to me that I never got to watch them. Finding this on Youtube really touched a nostagic note for me. I wish so much that I could have shared these with my son when he was still young enough to enjoy them. ahhh, but time makes fools of us all! I hope you do post the Sinbad cartoons, somewhere, someone will be grateful I am sure.
Please tell where you got this collection I am trying to get all the things I watched as a kid so my kids can watch. They love the original Hercules and H.R. Puffnstuff
My 5 year-old son thinks he's Ben10, and I explained to him when I was his age I thought I was someone named Sinbad Jr. Glad I searched and found it so quickly on YouTube.
THANK YOU!! I knew I wasn't crazy-over the years I have described this show to people and always got a blank stare! I used to watch it as a kid eating Freakies cereal-the memories just flood back. Please post some episodes or where the hell can I find them?!?

We also had the Pancake Man who did not fair to well either. They were canceled after a few months. The Pancake Man used to show these Sinbad cartoons!! He was also Otis of the Andy Griffith show!
Wow! Thanks for posting this. What would I do without youtube. I thought that maybe I made up this Sinbad because I must have watched it when I was about 5-6 yrs old, too.
I know what you mean the Sinbad cartoon was great , the song kept going through my head once in a while thru out the years and I would think to myself was there a Sinbad cartoon or not?... I was sure there was another Sailor Cartoon aside from Popeye, but at other times I wasn't sure. was great memories
WOW now this takes me WAY back! I was like,5 or 6 years old when this was being rerun on t.v.I remembered it , but only slightly. Where did you even find this?
Sinbad's cooler than Popeye.

This was produced by Hanna-Barbera for American-International Television in 1965. About half the episodes were produced by H-B; the rest by Sam Singer's ["BUCKY & PEPITO", "COURAGEGOUS CAT & MINUTE MOUSE"] production outfit.
