  • This is a good song to get high 2

  • yeah fuk nicle back dey suck chad krogner is a horny dude and has cool hair do

  • @gamaboi hahaha

  • @gamaboi ahahhh hahahahhaha

  • The white trash boys listened to their headphones, blasting white noise in the convenient store parking lot. I hung around here wasting my time, hoping you'll stop by.

  • so soothing....just relax and get lost in this musical masterpiece....

  • fucking awesome

  • Nice variation.

  • I remember when I first heard this it gave me chills and still does. Amazing.

  • I love that Brock found some girl who had the balls to try n' harmonize with him. They blend surprisingly well!

  • Sleepwalk is my favorite instrumental of all-time, hands down, and I would be crushed to hear it botched. Let's just say Modest Mouse definitely doesn't botch this. I would be horrified at even the THOUGHT of including lyrics to this masterpiece without compromising it's beauty; but Isaac Brock consistently proves to us that he's up to the challenge, and is this generation's most gifted (living) musician (in my opinion).

  • this song is truly haunting

  • yes. but an amazing rendition. the original is an instrumental piece by santo and johnny. also a great song

  • i hate this, its seems so sloppy. the original will always be superior. I bet half the people who comment on this don't even know there is an original.

  • pretty song, I used to lsiten to it before I went to sleep everynight. Back before I knew what I wanted or who I wanted.

  • A nice recreation of a classic hit

  • i fell in love and i needed a road map to find out where do you live so excited now...

the same happened with me in june. nice memory. beautiful song.

  • It's a great song. Fantastic username by the way.

  • @ydabom What a snob comment. Music is what you make of it and this is a great cover. There is no such thing as terrible music, it's all relative to what you like.

  • @ydabom Musical dousche-cunts, please go back to the 50's, just because you like old music doesnt mean people respect your input/want to hear 'what you have to say'. youre a cynical asshole.

p.s. this version makes santo and johnny sound like a couple a' talentless butt pirates

  • this is the song that me and my wife danced to at our wedding...

  • This is indubitably the best cover to the original Santos and Johnny , Jeff Beck did a cover to it as well, but they do not compare to Modest Mouse.. I imagine myself slow dancing with my lover on a rock in the middle of a river to this song...

  • and my son is dancing to this song, thats emaculate heartbreak beauty.

  • wrong song to be listening to while i'm so heart sick

  • thumbs up if you want a tutorial for piano for one

  • First time I've listened to this song since the last time with my exboyfriend. A year ago.. This is depressing..

  • @sharkkgirl i hear ya :/ doesn't love suck

  • You'll notice that the uploader, aka AbsintheColour, says in the description A wonderous classic covered by modest mouse". I hope whoever gave his comment thumbs down feels stupid now. You deserve to.

  • @AbsintheColour I love how no one noticed you being sarcastic. You-tubers are idiots, myself included.

  • I'm not comparing the songs. I'm saying That they are incomparable. Also,Isacc was on drugs when he wrote this, and it makes it better. Also, how can modest mouse fuck up a song that they wrote. Finally how the fuck am I being Naive prick? Do you know the definition of Naive?

  • @MrJoshEddie do you know how to reply to people on youtube? haha

  • @dinkydodgem93 Yeah I do, I just went about it a weird way lol. Plus i hope everyone knows i was being sarcastic when I said the Beatles sucked because they did drugs.

  • MrJoshEddie is a fucking naive prick.

  • @ydabom these aren't really modern, most of there best stuff was wrote in the early-late 90's...

  • stoned.....yup

  • stoned???

  • When I listen to this song, I'm in middle school; slow dancing with a broken heart in the empty gymnasium long after all the lovers have gone to their lane. And the streamers and banners remind me of all the love I'll never know. The punch bowl is provides quiet solace as I throw my bow-tie to the floor and saunter slowly into the warm night.

  • @ThePolleyPocket hthats fucking deep bro

  • @ThePolleyPocket foreveralone.jpg...i gotcha man

  • @Toast579 :foreveralone:

  • @ThePolleyPocket I love how the second highest rated comment, deep and poetic as it is, still gets less thumbs up than the angry "fuck you music industry" comment.

  • @ThePolleyPocket That was gorgeous. Thank you for the goosebumps and that terribly-wonderful stinging sensation you get in the tip of your nose just prior to tearing up.

  • @ThePolleyPocket :0 dude wtf?

    GTFO

  • @AbsintheColour oh shut the fuck up cock breath. No one wants to hear your bullshitting!

  • Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny was ORIGINALLY produced with lyrics that were sung by Betty Byre from Canada....

  • @AbsintheColour Well since you can't play a better version, shut the hell up.

  • @ydabom Wow what a joke. For one, Santos and Johnny don't have lyrics. So the Beatles and ever other band ever sucks, because they were all on drugs lots of them. They only thing thats the same is one riff. If you don't like the song then get your highly uneducated mind off the damn page and listen to your chirstan rock.

  • @MrJoshEddie Covers are bands personal takes of songs, this is what they did, it is not that song, they liked that song and wanted to make their own version, and i like it very much. Don't compare songs to the original versions, because they are two different songs.

  • @MrJoshEddie Also, why should the reasoning behind the music have anythingto do wht how enjoyable it is

  • @ydabom Nothing Johnny and Santos ever did could be called "peak music"

  • now I'm calm

  • Such a melodic song; almost as if it is has an innocent yet, beautiful memory that I shall never forget. This song truly does bring tears to my eyes, & I have never been touched by a single thing in my life. This is no longer music... It is art.

  • why does this remind me of ocarina of time lol

  • @ydabom if by modern artist, you mean a band that has been around for almost 25 years, and has alot of original great music, that cover songs very well, as well as make their own great music.......

  • lol AbsintheColour i almost wanted to give you attitude for saying you aren't a musician and you could play this blindfolded and then i realized that you were just making fun of ydabom. hahah. close call

  • awesome song

  • Modest Mouse made friends with a whale. That is what your hearing in the background. That whale is my friend now.

  • This song is like a dream.

  • @ydabom They were on drugs when they did this and were like only 19 or so. It is actually good. Modest Mouse is not modern. They were around for about 20 years man. This was made in 1996 when the band was on an independent label, so for what they had, they did well. By the way. Modest Mouse is awesome. Their lyrics are very sophisticated and what not so I suggest you give them a try if you want to.

  • almost floydian. love it

  • better than the original y'all are fuckin trippin

  • ahhh modest mouse the band that can make ur worries go away in even there shortest lines they are truely the shining light that rises over all the lady gagas in the world

  • This song completes my life. Modest Mouse is the greatest bands ever. Fuck all those horrible bands like nickle back.

  • @william14477 I was just thinking about how much nickle back sucks next to modest mouses meaningful, beautiful, artistic sincerity, much like little motel. And again, you have to be a quality person to appreciate quality music, such as modest mouses...so i am more then happy that you posted that comment, thanx

  • @william14477 I was just thinking about how much nickle back sucks next to modest mouses meaningful, beautiful, artistic sincerity, much like little motel. And again, you have to be a quality person to appreciate quality music, such as modest mouses...so i am more then happy that you posted that comment, thanx, ps, ima stripper, i have to appreciate the real in life on my days off, so i pop open the computer and play some modest mouse, thumbs up if ya feel me universe.

  • @william14477 You sir, are a friend in my book.

  • @william14477 hey, don't forget nirvana:D

  • @DerMitDerEnteTanzt Damn right.

  • @william14477 mm is only covering this song

  • @william14477 modest mouse is great but this is a cover. I don't like nickelback either but just cause you don't like something doesn't give you a warrant to trash them. Loser.

  • @Killinemdead1 Dude, I was just putting them as an example. Don't make such a big deal out of it.

  • modest mouse have such a deep history and secrets...

  • THEYHAD REMOVED THISTHANKS

  • I've watched this vid I don't know how many times in the past couple of weeks. Simply beautiful. I gotta be honest, I think I like this version better than the original classic. This awesome vid only makes the song that much better.

  • wuts the album?

  • @Dunderhead36

Its from "Building nothing out of something"

If you only know modest mouse from songs like Float on or Dashboard then i HIGHLY recommend checking out the early stuff like Dramamine and Life like weeds. You will notice the difference

  • @YourOldGlory lulz i have almost all of their records, but i'm still just discovering them deeper. Thanks!

  • @YourOldGlory

sleepwalking is on the "interstate 8" record from '96, too. that was before "building nothing out of something"...

"interstate 8" is really amazing if you love albums like "this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about" or "the lonesome crowded west"!

  • ambien high...

  • this song reminds me of the pixies

  • @Hypoglypasta I know what you mean. I don't like them most of the time. but any version of this song couldn't be bad if it wanted to.

  • @Hypoglypasta bothers you so good

  • Wasn't aware there were actual lyrics to this song...unless MM added them.

And if they did add the lyrics...it works.

  • @namikejohnson Yeah as far as I know the original song was instrumental

  • maybe i'll dance to this at my wedding... lol why not? i'll have to be at least 30 though.

  • Im floating and its not the drugs!!!

  • @greedyeee cool!

  • @AbsintheColour Hey man, sorry I didn't pick up your sarcastic undertones, until I noticed you had uploaded this song.

  • @greedyeee DUDE ... calm down and enjoy life and stop complaining about everything like a little child its not worth it.. just be happy :) and smile

  • @greedyeee then your grandmas dump is awesome.... and why are you alweys sniffing your grandmas dump??

  • @greedyeee Your grandma must have some awesome dumps then, the quality is fine.

  • @greedyeee why would you know that?

  • @greedyeee sounds fine to me.

  • a truly incredible song

  • This cover/song of Modest Mouse is great, but Edit the sad parts is my favorite MM song

  • I really feel like I should know this... but who is the original artist?

  • @sayitisntsokthnxbai johnny and santo....cant beat the original but i really like modest mouse and i think they did a great remake

  • reminds of the one by santo and johnny

  • Music's good, but I don't like the singing with it.

  • @AbsintheColour i think she's talking about the scene where the mother is dancing with the son...i may be thinking of an entirely different Stephen King movie though :)

  • @rage4201979 Thanks rage..lol

  • this song is about meth.

  • It just took one kiss, and I was gone...

  • Instead of making a stupid joke about the number of likes and dislikes, I'm just going to say that this song is fucking awsome.

  • who is the female singer in this

  • @wartree

anytiem you hear a female in modest mouse it's nicole johnson

  • @wartree nicole johnson is her name, i think. she sang on a couple other mm songs.

  • this is like a my morning jacket-ish take on modest mouse :D

  • this and the original are both masterpieces...

  • Is it just me or does this song have a really dark depressing undertone to it??

  • @Grave187RIP13 most of modest mouse songs have it

  • @wartree ya..

  • Comment removed

  • make you sad, but so happy.

  • great Homage to the original but still, completely stands on its own.

  • Is it just me or does this remind you of sleepwalkers from stephen King....right....hmmm??

  • i love the lyrics isaac brock wrote for this. he wrote the lyrics right? cause the original was instrumental

  • wow................... they are a good band. Iusualy go for advant gaurd and goregring with some folklore murder metal type person but this band is awsome, one of my friends referd them to me.

  • @anomosity101 yeah, i can dig metal. Nice Anomosity! ;^)

  • @anomosity101 sorry for the misspelled words and i meant recommended the band not referred, but I was tired that day- we all have off days.

  • hmm, didnt know this was a cover. who does the original?

  • @vondugle Johnny and Santo. The Ventures did a pretty good cover of this song as well.

  • @vondugle Santo & Johnny

  • muy uena cancion

  • This song is so beautiful, mate. Their voices are incredible together.

  • no puede mejot cover.....es hermozo

  • @3QUEMASDA3 rock corporativo sigue siendo una mierda, pero esta banda es grande

  • im sorry i love modest mouse but there are just some songs that should be left alone.

  • this song is simply beautiful! I can't get enough of it! lol =]

  • this was my close friends first dance song at their wedding yesterday it made me cry :( lol

  • @skyefiona Cool! ;)

  • @skyefiona you have cool friends! isn't this song great?

  • @skyefiona thats awesome and incredibly sweet

  • @Sleightofhandsz you obviously better be fucking joking. SPam

  • @Neighborhoodbordness Obviously I was joking, people who listen to Modest Mouse would much rather prefer the remix of No Hands, which features Wale, Roscoe and then of course Waka Flocka.

  • @Sleightofhandsz You are fucking ignorant," Please Shut Up"

  • @Neighborhoodbordness God you indie cunts are so serious

  • @Sleightofhandsz You black cunts are so...well BLACK

  • @Neighborhoodbordness Not black btw. Such a fuckin racist tight-pants wearing gayboy

  • @Sleightofhandsz Im glad gayboy is a 2nd grade comeback

  • @Sleightofhandsz lol waka flocka raps like he's got a 2nd grade education just like you, running around calling people gayboy. That's one step above "I know you are but what am I."

"I go hard in da muhfuckin paint nigga / Flockaaa / I go hard in da muhfuckin paint nigga / Leave you stankin nigga / What da fuck you thinkin nigga" ~ Waka Flockavelli (Genius of Our Times)

hahah you fucking rag, you wouldn't know good music if it bit you in your cunt. Get real dickhole.

  • @nyrmcfc6814 Ok sorry I may have misread the audience. Speakers going Hammer by Soulja Boy is an absolute classic, you know the type that will be remembered in 50yrs time.

  • @Sleightofhandsz lol obvious troll is obvious.

  • @nyrmcfc6814 haha fuckin owned

  • Issac Brock + Nicole Johnson= Magic

  • Who wrote the original song? or where can i find the original on utube?

  • @GayIsNotOkQueers Santo & Johnny Sleepwalk

  • i love this cover

  • so peaceful<3

  • @kathylove2 agreed<3

  • I saw on Wikipedia that Modest Mouse recorded a cover of this classic, and I was so excited and rushed to find the song on YouTube. Needless to say, I am disappoint.

  • @pepperandroses Well, thats apparently subjective considering so many people have another opinion. I do love the original and can respect your opinion just the same.

  • @AbsintheColour you're right, there are people who probably love this version. But personally, I think this is just a bad cover of such a great tune. That's just my opinion.

  • @pepperandroses lol. Well, you said "Needless to say" so it prompted my that response from me..i thought it was pretty when i first heard it. Didnt mind so much that it was a cover..As long as a cover is heartfelt ill dig it usually. Lenny Kravitz or however you spell his name covering American WOman was just awful. I dont think Mosdest MOuse ruined the original personally..And with all the bad music nowadays..i dont see how this is bad. lol. Just the same though..The original is the original..

  • @pepperandroses I think its no different really then a friend or somebody sittin around playing music and covering old classics that they love. Classics that they know turned them onto creating their own music. You wouldnt tell a guy on the street expressing himself and covering santo and johhny for fun because they feel the way you do about the song would you? I think whoever is at the top gets rocks thrown at them whether they are great or just so so or flat out bland and pointless. lol

  • @pepperandroses that is, you wouldnt tell them they suck and ruined the song in your opinion would u? lol

  • @AbsintheColour I too came here after seeing it on Wiki and I got to say I think it's nice. after listening to this and Bankrupt on Selling, and LOVING that song, I Have got to check out their other music

  • @runtubefantasy I hear ya. I got into em because of a friend and really enjoy at least 70 percent of theyre songs....I think they are very good. Especially considering the pop crap we gots so much of...hehe

  • @runtubefantasy

Prepare for a journey of your life

Modest Mouse will take you through unexplored dimensions, places that music today would Never, EVER bring you. I'm still caught up on the ride, and I thought i would share my wisdom with you

  • @Surnameist This. This right here is how I feel.

  • @Surnameist I couldnt agree more. Isaacs lyrics cant evn be compared with another band. Theyre so damn good live too. Ive been to 3 shows and plan on going to many more once thrye on tour again that is. if u havent been to a show u definatly need to. The combo of isaacs lyircs and how good they r live makes them one of the best bands ever.

  • @Surnameist Modest Mouse ARE music of today. Or do you come from the future? Oh my God, do you come from the future because that would be so cool, do we have laserswords by then? Please tell me, that we have laserswords...

  • @sickcellmate Yes, we have them. Although you will not be issued one, due to your referring to them as "laserswords."

  • @sickcellmate Damn, me and my anachronistic use of words. Then my laser-unicorn has to do, even though it doesn't fit into my bag.

  • Is it sad that I immediately thought of Reach when the planet zoom part happened? lol

God, I love this song, this band, and everything else by them :D

  • 11 seconds ago Im positive Modest Mouse thinks the utmost of Sa;nto and Johnny. Its quite obvious. Im positive they would tell you it is their favorite version and the best. ;^) Well, theirs is a version on the original of course. Some people say it isnt a cover but its pretty blatant to a listening ear that the song inspired this one and its base essence and composition is the foundation for their version. But what do i know. Thats my best guess
