hi just had a quick question...i did this with the exact same phone and carrier and how you said that accounts can be deleted if you do overuse data...so this means we would need virgin mobile 3G enable to use hotspot...now can hotspot be used only on wifi without 3G and without overusing monthly data...thanks

@LillWill94 hotspot is not allowed by virgin mobile at all. VM words it as tehering. there is no way to hotspot with out 3g. you can however with the wired usb, phone to a computer, use the phone as no more then a USB wifi adapter. will take data in from wifi from a router and share data with computer.

@mstechify The application in the phone say EasyTether (unregistered)...I installed EasyTether lite but I seem to have EasyTether (unregistered). Another questions is why is it that I cannt see connect to Android when I right click the icon. BTW I download and run the LG USB drivers (exe file) in my cell phone not the computer right?

Wow this is a lot more involved just to set this phone up as a wifi hotspot than there is with the optimus v. Was thinking of getting this as an upgrade, but not sure if this phone or the optimus q from straight talk is what I want to go. They both seem to be almost the same phone.

@angrybirds20121 cont..... ya I should make a video to show the process. we will see if I can get to it. Make a connection from your pc to phone (usb tether). Bridge the USB tether connection and the Wireless connection. Right click on the USB tether connection and select Share… hope didn't miss anything. going by memory

@angrybirds20121 well the issue is not with the phone that has hotspot it is with other devices. you will have to root and find custom rom that makes it a access point or just connect the phone to the PC and do a USB tether. In short your PC will become the hotspot. here instructions. cont.....

@angrybirds20121 the hot spot you created with your slider is ad-hoc. other android devices will reject a ad-hoc and need a access point. quick work around is to usb tether to the computer and make the computer the access point by telling the computer to share.

Im good with the rooting and all that jazz. thanks. followed your video to the t. Watched it a dozen times. Have the wireless tether. But the pc nor another cells wifi or my Roku picked up or even showed a signal from the phone. my cell is the same exact cell you have here except it is a straight talk aka tracphone. so I renamed the ssid. tried changing the chanel. enabled the WiFi Encryption and everything. Its not showing up on anything.

@pinkalie666 there is a difference those devices probably don't do ad hoc which is what this is. and I don't advice at all using the roku. but inthe case of the other devices you do a USB tether to a PC and bridge connect sharing internet out of the PC wifi

Actually Ms. I did not call them. I was browsing their website and the chat box came up so I asked them. I don't have service with them yet. T-Mobile shut off my tethering so I am SOL at work for working with my laptop. That is why I am here seeking your valuable expertise on the matter. Any help would be much appreciated setting this up. @rrob311 I felt that the slider was the best option for hotspot as in wired and wireless, root and non-root, speed. and the rooting is simple. there is nothing to set up with VM. yet it is what I said prior, monitor total 3g data, don't use it for streaming movies or lots of downloads or you will loose your account. optimus V is easiest and best price.

@rrob311 why would you call them and ask them that? did you not read your terms of service. I and do state doing it risks getting service shut off. but if you still want to watch the video. me personally I have no need to hotspot. but I know how. Do put a app on your phone to monitor data usage in and out for 3g. don't use it for streaming videos on your PC. around 5 GB should be fine. but there is the data throttle that they say is coming sometime in 2012.

@Luigi1451 make sure no firewall blocking, try uninstalling app and drivers and re-installing. I have also found it helpful to rename the hotspot in the phone and let the computer recognize it as different connection. what OS so you have on PC?

@Luigi1451 make sure USB debugging checked, need to enable wireless tether (will see icon on your phone in notification that is is watching for phone plugged in). once phone plugged in make sure to NOT select charge or mass storage. I am sure you have done these just putting them out there. all else fails uninstal reinstal on phone and PC. the usb tether doesn't need rooting so shouldn't be a permission issues. delete any PC save connection example Home 3. when make new connection try public.

Easy tether no longer works for me either...once i have everything all set I right click on the easy tether icon in the system tray and in greyed out words says ...no device connected...i though it was my phone but i tried it on both the samsung intercept and my optimus slider...no luck on either phone..rooted my slider and currently using wireless tether...works great

I am stuck between the HTC Wildfire S, and the Triumph, I really like the specs on the triumph, but $300 is a lot i'm willing to pay for it, but i'm really interested in the Wildfire, especially with it being HTC, Having a great camera, and android 2.3, but the Triumph has that, and a better processor, screen, but only 2.2, you have the Triumph is it a good phone, or do you think the Wildfire is better?

@iLoveTheCheesw you should decide on what you need and want. I need phone that was more like a mini tablet and lots of apps. I have 82 of my own apps and I still have 640MB left internal memory. no, adding a bigger SD doesn't mean unlimited apps. and it won't fix the wildfire S low internal memory 74mb after it updates youtube fb ect... Triumph has slow GPS lock if you have to have GPS pass on triumph. otherwise do you plan on upgrading soon or want something for a while.

so i got the optimus v.I LOVE MY PHONE.My last phone was the rumor touch & i liked it very much espeacially with the qwerty keypad. But i need 2 know do u think i should upgrade now for the keypad or wait for virgin mobile to bring out a real high end phone.Ive heard bad things about the triumph from friends & web reviews so its not even in the race.But besides the keypad & the 2.3. gingerbread i dont know if its worth jumping on now or waiting.Because the optimus v works gr8.So what do u think.

@s41510 if you want more then just texting and a few web pages there are many reasons to upgrade to OpV. yes there will always be better or different. you are gonna miss out on the here and now. what do you want now? do you want to be able to have some apps now... who knows if better will be the next phone released 1st quarter 2012 like maybe LG marquee or will if it be the jukeB which is a android 2.3 that looks like the blackberry (no specs but screen is small). I'm not one to ask questions on YouTube, but this phone has me completely confused. I cannot use ANY wireless tethering program with this phone successfully!

@ThePrimetech For LG OpV and Slider I prefer... Wireless tether for root users (by muller, lemons, buxton).. or.. wifi tethering (by opengardenn, inc). try leaving securities off for first connection. Try also changing the SSID. Is your other device a pc or an android

1) Use Version 3.1 beta 6 of Wireless Tether

2) Set the Profile to Optimus S

3) When you see an "update profile" message, choose "Dismiss".

I need your help with something. i got this phone like a week ago. and the signal strength and the wifi signal on the top of the screen always turn white. and then some times they are green like the bettery. does that mean anything or is it just my phone.

@AlexDisaster17 OK I am sorry I was too quick to answer and on my way out the door when I answered. Just something I never notice since not my regular phone. Yes it does that. no it is not a problem. When there is no wifi data it is white. when wifi connecting or inactive it is white. when 3g not in use and wifi being used wifi and antenna bars are green.

@pellcity2007 for wifi hotspot it should which requires rooting. This for USB tether only ***drivers needed to recognize. and There is a work around that I have done in past when all I had for high speed internet was a USB data card. I had the USB data card plugged into my computer taking data (internet) in and hooked game consul to my PC Ethernet and told the computer to share the USB internet with the Ethernet. So game consul was connected via Ethernet plug with the PC being the middle man.
