Dude this whole walkthrough is three years old and I still love it I just have to rewatch the whole walkthrough from the beginning when I am craving shin megami tensei stuff you are awesome for making this and your voice is always amazing lol
@dragonstormx Oh, ok. Well, since I left my comment, I've done some research on the main-series, and I've come to become a fan of it. So, not only do I know what's ACTUALLY going on, but I also know that I now love the series. Thanks.
I know, my point was that so many of the elements are the same that it's nearly a remake. You're just an everyday high school student out with two friends before the world ends, when you wake up the world is unrecognizable (but it's still Tokyo), the man responsible for the apocalypse is taking over, your two friends go down Lawful and Chaotic paths, you go on a fairly linear journey until you start making major alignment decisions and one person is implied to be the hero from SMT2
Except that it's not nearly a remake in any sense of the term. Whatsoever. It's a sequel, of course there are going to be similar elements. That's like saying Oblivion is a remake of Daggerfall, because both involve you coming from an unknown land, and being tasked to do something by the Emperor.
My point stands. What you listed is wrong, anyways. There's no Law vs Chaos in Nocturne. Hikawa and Takao, there are more than just "two friends". The world after the Conception is far different from the post-apocalyptic world in SMTI. Hikawa isn't exactly trying to take over the world in Nocturne. And how is Aleph possibly being in Nocturne mean a remake of SMTI? That's just comparing the absolute bare-bones. Once you get into detail, the games are HUGELY different.
1. Technically there aren't Law and Chaos routes, but looking at the ideologies it's close enough that the writers were definitely thinking of the old games.
2. I said it had great similarities, including that your two friends go down what's close enough to Law and Chaos routes to call it that.
3. To me the only difference in the worlds is the lack of humans
4. I never said it was an actual remake, just that there were large similarities.
1. Thinking of old games? Yes. Except there's no Chaos vs Law till the Demon endings, which are only Chaos. You've got Shijima, Musubi, and Yosuga. The ideologies of the paths are much different.
2. Again, they're not Law and Chaos.
3. Then you obviously haven't played Nocturne if you think that's the only difference.
4. You said, and I quote, "so many of the elements are the same that it's nearly a remake" and "in a sense they kinda redo SMT 1. It was called SMT: Nocturne"
Even saying it's "Nearly a remake" is completely misleading someone. The games aren't similar, except on the very basic level, and even then you're grasping for straws. Fusion? Right, except it's vastly different. Character can summon/recruit demons? Yep, but it's a completely new system. Nocturne and SMTI feature completely different types of stories, gameplay, and morality. It's a sequel, not anything close to a remake. You're getting a completely different game from SMTI.
How do you play it? Do you have to get the Super Famicom, then the copy of the game, and then download the translation, or do you have to download the translated game onto the PC and play it on there?
I wanted to play the older SMT games after finally play Nocturne and DDS 1&2, but these snes game just look too dated for me to play, so i'll just watch LP's of them.
It kinda annoys me how they gave everyone 3 names(like the names the MC has is Kazuya, Sho, and Futsuo), I can't even figure out which one is the official name, would it kill them to just pick a name and go with it?
Is it? in my playthrough, I spammed it with a 5-7 Intelligence Chaos Hero against high level enemies, and there wasn't much problem with it hitting. Hm...
God, I wish I could play this game, but no matter what I do I can't get the translation patch to work and my Japanese isn't good enough to play through it without the patch. Oh well, looks pretty cool.
Wait so you play it Raidou? I used to play it but I dont know if I want to go back to it or not, just like all MMOs I play, things get a little boring but Im looking for other MMOs like Megaten due to its Unique Creature Transformations.
@blarghonk40 i dont know about character creation, it is hard to find a game similar to megaten : set in tokyo, is not a racing or dancing game, slightly futuristic, very urban, but rpg.
very hard to find anything like that indeed.
i suggest either going back to it or playing something entirely new. like maybe vindictus.
@AxAie Thanks for the suggestion. I just went and viewed the trailer and its already got my attention (Especially considering Vindictus using Valve's source engine which has to be one of my favorite Game companies). Thank you again for bringing this to my attention. :)
@blarghonk40 no problem :D the game is really good. i've been playing since last year maybe? and i have no complaints about it at all. vindi is very unique compared to other games as well and the boss battles and story is so interactive with the player. the community is also pretty nice compared to most games. so you'll enjoy it a lot. ^-^ and best part about it is you don't need to spend money in order to be a hardcore player in the game.
@blarghonk40 np ^-^ my name there is Aele and I'm on the West server. My class is Fiona :D and I'm an armorsmith. Oh one thing you should know though is that most of the female characters on the server are men because the classes are gender locked. XD But most female players in the game choose Evie. I'm a girl irl and i picked Fiona XD wahahaha i say this because you might feel odd if you flirt with a seemingly feminine character only to realize it's a dude. lolz~
@RaidouFrost not really xD even on atlus' financial statements "MEGATEN" is strictly reserved as their mmorpg's nickname. The shin megami tensei series as a whole is usually referred to as "SMT".
So for example, instead of writing shin megami tensei persona; they would write "SMT Persona" since there are many volumes they would call each one like this: P1, P2, P3, P4, etc. for Persona 1 to 4.
"why were you looking at atlus' financial statements?"
Um, what do you mean "Not really"? I'm pretty sure I've been playing the Megami Tensei games for well over a decade now. The name "MegaTen" came from the original Megami Tensei games, released on the MSX. Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei. MegaTen is the common abbreviation within older fans of the series, and was adopted for the MMO. "SMT" just refers to the Shin branch of MegaTen games.
This is my all-time favorite game series, I think I know what I'm talking about, thanks.
@RaidouFrost OMG my bad~. so it's the "shin" ones.
i never played the older ones, i mostly played the shin versions. that's why i only know it as SMT. and their financial statements that i saw recorded only the latest games they released "devil survivor" "persona" "etc." the latest of latest and the mmo's. that's probly why i saw all the others as "SMT". you're right. tysvm for letting me know this info though >v< i'm an avid fan of SMT and ATLUS so i like knowing more about them.
Right now it's not so bad, but I remember there being one really long dungeon later in the game, coupled with the first person view it gets really disorienting. Luckily there's that auto-mapping feature.
Lol does look strange. It's amazing to see how RPG games were back then and now to look at them now. So I'm guessing that you got a new TV tuner then?

Alright, point by point to clarify this.

2. I said it had great similarities, including that your two friends go down what's close enough to Law and Chaos routes to call it that.
