How did George Mallaby do Homicide in 1973 as Det.Sgt. Barnes and then, at the same time, be Donovan in the box ???? Wasn't that the same period??(loved the old Leyland going down Victoria Street by the way!!)
@cam068 I think shows in the early days were recorded so far in advance and George must have more or less gone straight from the Homicide set to The Box after all both were Crawford shows.
Gosh this show was a crack up, no topic was out of the question, highlights for me were the trip to the nudists camp and the episodes where Vicki Stafford's friend (Vince Gill) turns up looking for a heroin fix, (more dope, more dope) he cries out while she's helping him go cold turkey. classically high camp Aussie trash in a nutshell but oh so much fun.

@mike1964180 No worries mate, did you also know Cheryl Rixon starred in the American made low budget film Swap Meet-1979 and the higher budget Used Cars-1980, I'm pretty sure from memory her clothes get ripped off her in Used Cars.
Used Cars is available on DVD, if not still available here in Oz try Amazon for a U.S. copy. I'll hunt around for pics of Vanessa, but there isn't a lot about The Box online sadly.

But I never knew anything about the girl who played Fanni or what happened to her afterwards. It looked like she had big things ahead of her! Sorry about that one mate, couldn't resist.

She had an episode in The Last Of The Australians, that 70's comedy with Alwyn Kurts and also in an episode of Division 4 and in the 1982 film Duet For Four. Nothing is listed after 1982

Australian CLASSIC at it's best. My single mum let me stay up with her and we had to be very quiet so as not to wake my sisters, that were older than me but didn't get along with mum so well...lucky me, hehe...and we ate TIM TAMS and drank either TAB or TRESCA, wow can't believe I remember as must've been before school as was born in 68, wow this is the best memories :))))))
@zaniac100 yes i was about 10 and i remember she gets a parcel delivered at the door, she starts to open it up then Lee (Paul Karo) gets out of a car and is running (in slow motion) to the house and screaming "Judy , Judy... Noooooo!! .........then Booom! !! Judy was gone.
I thought The Box was lost without trace. So glad to find someone has kept some of it around. This was hot stuff for a lad in his teens.

It had the first fully nude woman first gay man, first gay kiss..and breasts galore. It was two hours of nudity on a weeknight.

@hebneh The Box showed (distant) full frontal nudity in May 1976. Number 96 showed a few (mid shot) full frontal nudes in late 1976 and 1977.
