Hey guys. I'm new to this hobby and I have my D80 and I have a problem... I really need your help... My AF-area mode (02 in my custom setting is disabled) It says 'This option is not available with current settings'... What do I need to do? Please help... :(
You have to set the menu layout to 'full'. You can turn this of if your not intirely familiar with all the functions etc. If you don't want to fine-tune every possible option, you can make the menu-layout kinds stripped out. If you want (for example) change the AF-area, you need the full lay-out. You can change the lay-out in the setup menu.
What shooting mode do you have to be in for all this to work? I am in manual mode, I set the focus to "single" like you suggested but everytime i switch the focus point I really dont see a difference at all, my d80 doesnt focus it automatically into that spot that I choose? What is wrong?
in my menu on my D 80 I can not select the AFA mode..it says that the option available with current settings... what settings should it be on...also do you know how to set auto bracketing
select the bkt button on the left/front of the camera, close to the lens release button. Then use the main dial to select how many exposures to bracket (BKT will display on control panel). Then push bkt button again and use sub control dial to choose the exp. increments to bracket at.
omg thank you, i was searching through my manual trying to find how to change the focus area. of course it was as simple as the arrow buttons!!! i was starting to go crazy because the focus area was off to the side, i must have changed it on accident at some point!
I'm having a problem with selecting different auto focus areas. You say that you can use the arrow keys to select any one of the eleven different areas, but that doesn't work on my D80. Help?
First, go to CS-2 (custom menu 2) and make sure that Single Area is selected as your focus mode, otherwise the computer will be choosing which area for you.
If that doesn't work, email me back and I'd be glad to help (though I have to add, local camera retailers are excellent resources for hands-on answers to questions like these).

@bishounens08 Bottom left side of the body you'll find "AF/M" switch, put it back to AF then your ready to go.
Tortuga699 1 year ago
@BigCarpFoxRiver Check the switch on the side of the lens mount to see whether it is on M or AF. AF's what you're looking for.
Also if applicable, check on the left of the lens barrel to see if M/A is selected on the switch.
If none if these help I dunno.

Uhm yeah you can use a button for choosing the AF mode, its placed on the front next to the lens, right next to the grip.

@panzarw That's true, but the AF mode is different from the Active Auto-Focus Area, which is what this video is about.

Liveview is when the image your are taking shows up on the LCD screen, while you're taking it.
Cameras without it you use the viewfinder.
