Nothing is black and whit though. Such as plastic, it's not all bad, if it weren't for plastic- elephants would have been hunted to extinction! And if oil was never discovered, sperm whales would've all been killed, etc.

As far as population goes, all we need to do is get the death rate over the birth rate. That doesn't mean killing, it just means less babies.

Likewise bring cloth bags to the store, and buy in bulk using your own glass jars. In today's plastic-saturated society it's impossible to avoid plastic food containers entirely, but you can reuse plastic bags and choose to buy products that come in glass instead of plastic.

Plastic probably shouldn't be a food contact surface considering the toxicity. It's unfortunate that most are just learning about this now. There are still plenty of things sold in glass bottles and glass always tastes better than plastic for a reason...

well if you have to use a plastic HDPE (2) is the safest, it doesnt leach into your foods like PETE, thats why it takes over 1000 years to degrade... 7 is the worst... its pretty amazing there are so many different types of plastics and yet they have chosen to manufacture 7 5 of which are quite toxic.... 2 and 5 are not so bad pending that other chemicals like lead or paint are not added to it...

Heard this Song while Working on The Clearwater on The Hudson River. Plastic is necessary part of life these days, However We need more established recycling programs. I Have been through the Pacific Gyre and found it disgusting. Photodegraded plastics are ending up in seafood. And Half of Johnson Atoll in the South Pacific is made up of this.

Imaging how much more toxins, heavy metals and carcinogens are found in wood and paper but no one sings about it. The main problem in our world today is carbon emission. Utilising and recycling natural occurring materials create enormous amount of carbon while depleting the forest. Plastics, although not perfect, are still better alternatives. What we need to do it to work on how to be responsible users of plastics and maybe sing about it.
