It's okay to disagree. What a boring world if we all agreed. Different views are as the colors of Fall. How beautiful they are. Yet, they get along as one. ~TMOT
A testament to single mother's who like these young MEN (LOL) also lacked good judgment in their decision-making abilities. One clearly comprehends why successful males avoid interacting with with these scholars who failed to recognize that their dress is inappropriate given the circumstances of the event.
Respect is never out-dated. I would never under dress for a fueral just out of self-respect. I like to think I come from good stock, It would be an insult to my family. I'm very young by the way, 19.
The suit and tie is a masonic slave uniform (reverse square and compass)...The tie originated with slave neck ties...Why would you want to identify yourself as a freemason slave? Why would you want to continue the neck tie humiliation that your ancestors were forced to wear by their masters? Respectfully.
I pretty much guarantee you won't be able to throw your body in a dumpster when you're dead. You'll be dead, remember? Oops, you won't know jack, let alone remember. Happy New Year!
@tmotofga that was my point, i wouldn't care what happened to me because i was dead. happy new years. you are a very smart and influential man. I respect your abillity to reach out to people via youtube. keep on making videos man.
Certain places and events are sacred and should be respected no matter what. I see this at church all the time also. People showing up in t-shirts. Girls wearing flip flops and mini skirts. Its quite sad that some people just dont have a clue. I work at the airport and to this day I don't get why people go to airports and fly in pajama pants. What do you make of the black man that was asked off the plane because his pants were sagging and arrested for refusing?
I've noticed this trend as well in my home community and it disturbs me to witness that most ppl go in casual wear because they simply want to "...at least pass by and look at a dead person" like it was a tourism feature. Ppl are replacing class and culture with entertainment and pop-culture and it's cheapening the overall quality and definition of "respect". Bless you and yours TMOT. -Greetings from North Fulton
I send you to the store to get me some crunchy peanut butter. You return with creamy instead. I guess I'm supposed to be ok with that simply because you brought something back? Give me a break.
@tmotofga , i was not tryin, to disrespect you at all in fact i feel alot of messages that you've been puttin out there. but im all about the freedom to do what ever you want unless your hurting somebody. why shoud a person be judged by ther clothes, you come to a place like that for love not for a show and i dont care if my daddy was dead imma come in there in what i wear on a reagular thats what he saw me in anyway. thats like sayin im not goin because i aint got nothin to put on.
I did not take it as disrespect. I'll assume you are young and say this. There is such a thing as protocol in many areas of social interaction. To follow protocol is the very essence of respect to begin with. It's one thing to not be able to afford a suit, but a different matter if you can and still won't wear one to a funeral. It's NOT acceptable to think that just because you showed up looking like a loser that it's ok, "I came out of love". Damn that! Show respect instead.
@alfafox1000 I don't even go to church. I'm an agnostic. Society has already decided what is the right way to dress. I guess since you don't understand that you would dress like a stripper at a child's birthday party. Or better yet, lets have all the male teachers teach their classes in speedos only. You see there is such a thing as standards. Just because your parents didn't teach you respect for yourself doesn't mean that there is no standard. BTW I am only 2 years older than you are.
ok let me tell you how this works in Germany in the area i am living. At a funeral you wear dark, like a dark blue or black. People that do not have anything like that they do come lets say Jeans and T-shirt but nothing that would upset anyone. What i am saying is that noone would show up like they are going shopping or into a disco or show titts and such. You can show your respect in blue Jeans and a t Shirt it is not only what u wear it is about how u act also!!
I think it is reasonable to assume a child wouldn't know any better. It is the parents who should make the kids dress appropriately, and if the adults aren't dressed right, then that is just a shame...
ill have to disagree. ive been to many a funeral in a nice button up shirt , nice non baggy shorts with clean sneakers on my feet. i can definitely understand your feelings but i will have to say, with respect, i think this can be broken down to an age thing. as you said earlier, the dude in the box could care less how you come and from my personal experience, as long as you come showing real heart and concern for the fellow in the box and his family, that is all that matters. SFUS OUT
@MWJEFF1 No dark clothes at my funeral either, casual dress. Family only and dinner after the service is paid for by me. The death notice goes in the paper after Im already buried. If you couldnt come while I was alive no need to bother with the phony sympathy to my family. Invitation only, there will be less than 12 people there and its exactly what I want. private and personal.
Times have change, It not what they are wearing its the soul in whats being worn,
in words the person, you should be happy for the respect that is being shown to the family. I think that is most important . Ps, I think you has check you bloodpressure
you are wotking yourself about these things. and live longer yourself get checked. I'ii
I have been fortunate as a young person, most funerals I have been to were casual. We are a pretty traditional family/community when it comes to that. Maybe in the non-denominational churches and some families may not mind.
My little sister past away this past february. My mom, grandparents, sisters, neices, nephews, a couple of cousins and i out of 85 people were the only ones dressed appropiately. So much niggerdom at my baby sister funeral it was ridiculous. Smh
I understand your point of veiw, and at the same time what if those people that showed up didn't own or coudn't afford appropriate attire. Should they not pay the respects as well? Again, i see your point, but on the other side of your aguement it's the thought of wanting to pay respects that counts.
You are correct on standards and respect. Today, so many people do not have respect and dress like bums - matter what the occasion. I am with you on this!
i have never been able to afford a suit or fancy shiny shoes. never had a job that society deems successful so ive never learned to put on a tie. thats ok though. i always seem to weasel out of funerals and weddings.
No its called respect, but I have noticed that people in general of all colors seem to dress sloppy these days. Young and Old. Whether its going to work or special occasions. With work the thing of causal Fridays people dress like slobs. Older people like either slobs or they have been warehoused somewhere with sneakers and flip flops. It that had been a funeral for my loved one and someone showed up looking like the wind that blows, I would have thrown their asses out of there.
of a heart condition and his friends decided to make t shirts and wear them to church in jeans with hats. Taking pictures with their cell phones....It was too much!!!! We really need to teach these kids decorum!
Sorry about your loss. You are so right!!!!! I JUST had this conversation with someone about how young people come dressed to funerals/graduations. They don't seem to understand there must be different styles of dress for different occasions. What you where to the crab crack you should not where in a formal event. Also the girls are just as bad with the short skirts/dresses and stilleto heels like they are at a nightclub! I am 42 and you are not old fashioned! My newphew died at 25 a few years
i've been to 2 funerals recently no one seems to dress for the wake. at the burial everyone was dressed in proper attire but the ones who wasn't dressed for the wake wasn't at the funeral. i don't think that most of these young kids nowadays even own proper attire for times like that
I hear you TMOT. I feel the same way. I went to a funeral last year and some fool tried to sell t shirts! The pastor quickly shut that down. These young folks today are not taught well about things that should be common sense.
Yes, the least people could do was show some respect and dress well. Every man should own at least one black suit to wear to both weddings and funerals. Women should own at least one dress their grandparents would approve of them wearing to church. I can understand if your homeless or had some serious misfortune, but everybody else should step up.
Knowledge and humility Knowing others is wisdom; Knowing the self is enlightenment. Mastering others requires force; Mastering the self requires strength; He who knows he has enough is rich. Perseverance is a sign of will power. He who stays where he is endures. To die but not to perish is to be eternally present.
Nothings wrong with "old Fashioned"! Your dress is your frame of mind, your frame of mind is considering the family, you wouldn't go dressed as a pimp now would you?lol YOU cannot FAKE consideration! This is all part of the movement to "tear down walls".
Walls which set men and women apart.
Walls which made shacking-up wrong.
Standards of dress, out the window.
Even the use of vulgar language permissible in public and in front of children.
The very wall of what marriage even means, is right now being destroyed.
