Steve has some valid points were M-B could have done a better job. R-class has made improvements every year it's been offered. Comparing it to a Pacifica is crude. The R does not share any parts with the Pacifica and it's as if a concept was thrown out on the table and the D-Chrysler people came up with Pacifica and the M-B people came up with the R. German engineering is still superior. There is a ton of room in the R and there is the market. Ugly, yes. The beauty is on the inside.
Look, as a minivan owner (not by choice - but by neccesity - picking up a 2 year old R350 is by far better than owning any minivan on the market. As a truck owner - you also don't have to feel like driving a massive truck you have to climb up into like you do the burbs.
It may not look pretty - but it really is in a class of it's own. Not to mention it do 142 mph - show me a three row anything that can do that and 8 sec. 0-60
uh dude, my nieghbor has one. it's really ugly. they have the r500. still ugly. sure it's good a good engine and great features, but it's looks are terrible. i'm not trying to compare it to a CLK. i'm just saying that my dad was getting rid of the CLK cuz it has 4 seats and we're a family of 6. so they suggested the R class. no thankyou. we will stick with our Q7 4.2
you cant compare R class with a CLK....i dont know but CLK has a ugly form......it sucks as a car...R class is pretty cool....you would love it if you had one...
AMEN! My parents are considering this over an Audi Q7. I told them they're stupid and that if they're going to buy a Mercedes, at least buy one that isn't the ugliest car I've ever seen.
lol yeah the GLK is pretty shocking too, i'll be fair this is not the worst car but it has hardly any purpose...a big 4x4 is the GL, a sport 4x4 is the ML...so where does this fit? It's a niche that nobody asked to be filled, much like the BMW X6...anyway with the current recession I think Mercedes will be learning a valuable lesson by wasting money on producing cars like these, sales figures speak for themselves, there's a reason they are rare.
This is not on the same platform as the pacifica...

This would make more sense if it actually had sliding doors and dimensions like an Odyssey or Sienna.
As it is, it's just a higher off the ground E-Class wagon.
And I'd buy the BlueTEC instead...

i hate this car.
so ugly, when my dad traded in his clk they wanted him to buy one. he's basically said hell no, that thing looks like a minivan!
and honestly if your buying one its becuase its a mercedes, not cuz you like it.
