I never knot my thread, I leave an inch hanging behind the cloth, and continue stitching over it to keep it secure, or to finish, I pass it the thread through the back of the last few threads.
You are a great teacher Can you make a video of how to use a hoop as a frame? I don't know how to do this and keep my project looking finished/clean and still secure. Thanks!
@BananaMrsHannah I tried cross stitching recently and while I love the pixelated look, embroidery (which I just learned) is suuuuper easy, much easier than cross stitching because in cross stitching if you don't hit the right spot it looks sloppy.
lol i liked this tutoria l so much i actually did a little applaude at the end. thank you so much for those great tips. i´m going to embroider some flowers for my mothers birthday, but when i started i realised i forgotten all i learned about it in school as a kid. thanks again :)
Thank you so much for this video! Unfortunately us "Internet Generation" children don't have our mothers teaching us these wonderful skills. My mother can't even sew! I found this video very helpful :)
you made this look very simple! Thank you, I have to teaach myself because my son wants to learn...so off I go to make my first embroired kitchen towel!! Wish me luck!
Excellent video this video contains the complete basic information about how to do embroidery perfectly and just watching the video also generate the interest of the person to learn it.thank you sharing this video with us.
i am industrialist & i make MILITARY UNIFORM like the ones of ww1/ww2 germany , use embroidery hoop for making balanced stitch, otherwise you might get either loose or tight at extreme!, so hoop is best for easening this skill!, also i lived using 1 layer of fabric & its a nightmare!(i use strong heavy fabric!, so imagine softer! DX▌) so these days i use extra required layer to increase crisp making my military uniforms insignia more smooth & easier for stitching! ▐▐▐
This is great! So many assume you know the basics on threading tricks etc....and I sooooo don't! So....I love starting at the beginning! Thanks for showing!
hi!great video, helps a lot!just wondering how would you go about embroidering onto silk satin? do you need different needles? different thread... is it even possible? i dont want to rip the silk but i definitely want to embroider on to it... what do you think?
Thank you so much for this video. I've been trying to teach myself how to embroider without so much as a book to help, and I was just baffled at how to get the darn thread in the needle. I thought I had purchased the wrong type of thread and needle. It totally makes sense to me now! Thanks again!
It depends on what you're working on. For the project she was demonstrating the work was quite small. I generally use the thread as it comes since I like chunky patterns.
Thank you for showing us how to tie the finish, few videos taught that!

For some I just couldn't understand any video about how to finish when you're done so I had pretty weird knots. But now I do, thank you so much!!

do you need to use and embroider hoop?
BlackKittyKat101 2 years ago
yes or else the stitches will be loose and will fall apart
alex3121fyi 2 years ago
No, it just makes it eaiser for most people. I usually do, unless I'm embroidering jean then it is stiff enough that I don't need rings.

As it says in the How-To Embroider Video, No you do not need to but it makes it a heck of a lot easier!

Hi is there any way you can show more with the stitchs what kind of canvas is best to work with would love to learn this
savvyvirgo1 4 years ago
I mostly use cream homespun fabric or Oznaburg to embroider on. Both are lovely to work with and are easy to trace your pattern onto.
stitchingcow 4 years ago
do you always have to separate the thread? oh my! I never did that..think of how much thread I've wasted!

It depends on what you're working on. For the project she was demonstrating the work was quite small. I generally use the thread as it comes since I like chunky patterns.
