  • @H2R25 Read the description! Emergency stop was pushed by one of the firefighters in the basket by accident!

  • That's fire officer material right there. Someone is getting promoted.....

  • In our department, one man stays below as a spotter for this very thing (well, and other things). We have a 105' Pierce Aerial that has dual controls up top and down below. I would also question the placement of the bucket so close to the fire because there was no way anyone was coming or going in that window. @JohnConnor333: We are volunteers as well, trained the same way as paid fire fighters, use the same gear and should have the same SOPs.

  • looks like he wanted to toast like a marshmallow. Must be a volunteer fireman

  • @JohnConnor333 were all brothers dont descriminate

  • @H2R25 You and 11 others sould read the context. The flames reached over the basket they were in. In this hot situation, the emergency stop in the basket was put in the "on"-position by accident....

  • Omg the guy controlling the ladder is probably down there like "Yep, he's fightin' a fire....oh dang...oh that must be hot. Wow, that sucks. OH CRAP!"

  • Protection line.

  • that was frustrating to watch...we had an sop that said that one man stays in the bucket at all times to avoid this problem...i understand about the 2 in 2 out rule,,, thats why we take 3 men in the bucket unless we are just putting out a trash fire ie, a fallen or fully involved building...as far as a water curtain goes, ours only worked when there was water flowing...

  • bad position and stategy placement of ladder way too close i hope he has insurance

  • Is this footage from Brokeback Mountain?

  • @H2R25 where im from, our controls are in the bucket, the only time there down below is when there is no bucket...

  • dont be so quick to blame the guy on the pedestal..

  • you think the guy controlling the ladder would move him instead of watching

  • What the heck is that. Firefighter smore. Get him out of the flames idiot.

  • @H2R25 he pushed the emergency stop button by mistake so no one could operate the ladder

  • =[ The only reoson i watched this is because there was a fire down my road last night and wanted to know other fires if it was worse and this one was worse

  • Hey,

the platform op didn't leave his truck. The Both firefighter did leave the basket and were in the building while the flashover. The operator couldnt see the basket and had to wait until both FF are back in the basket, to get them out of the fire.

    No one get hurt

  • It so sad watching fireman get hurt on a dangerous job. I sure hope he was ok.

  • You need to read the information that the poster puts on the video. They were ok just a little singed.

  • fck :-(

  • And that, people, demonstrates beautifully the importance of a charged covering jet being ready at all times.

  • Where the HELL is the driver operator...!!

The cage operator should never be left alone without the safety of an operator on the base controls...!

  • Read the description. The emergency stop was accidently pressed when they jumped into the bucket. This locked out the D/O's controls...

  • If the cage controls including the emergency stop button over rides the base operators controls, then in my opinion this is a flaw in the design. The base operator is there as a "mechanism" to ensure the safety of, should anything happen to the person in the cage.

  • This is why the platform operator never leaves the truck and never takes his/her eyes off of the bucket...

  • They need a water curtain on that airial

  • the firefighter operating the basket accidently pushed the emergency stop because the fire blew in his face and he did not see it. It took some time to figur out what the problem was before the guy operating the basket from the truck below could lower the basket...

  • Iam lol shit happens lol they stayed calm and did what they had to no one got hurt so its fine

  • Shouldnt have gone in!!

  • poor judgement =[

  • confranman "Shouldnt have gone in!!"

They saved his life. Certainly they made the right choice.

  • Marsh-mellows anyone?

  • I think I'm gonna be sick!

  • OK - I give you that it was a comment wasn't thought out. I was thinking they should break out mashmellows since their so close and camping out over the fire and not the other meaning.

That would be in poor taste.

  • Hey, I'm sorry that I said what I said. I was just joking around. It is actuly kind of funny. I was just thinking of the guys in the ladder.

    Poor men.

  • No need to be sorry. ...did you get the double meaning of "poor tatse".

I would have bailed down the ladder wrungs myself. Screw looking for the buttons.

  • Same here.

    Thank you.

  • FightThe4Strokes what is your problem?

  • are u a firefighter!?!

  • WTF do you care? Now what is your problem?

  • Fightthe4strokes fucking chill. I am a firefighter, and that is no way to act. We are all brothers and we are supposed to be professionals. so stfu.

  • finally

    a medaitor

    thanx for making peace

    salute

  • Not all departments and all situations wait for orders. Ladder guys are trained to put up ladders where needed without waiting for orders. The truck position was probably by direct order.

Fire scenes can be cluster f*cks when events happen like this.

Experience ladder men will not wait to move a ladder in this situation where a brother is in jepardy nor will IC expect that.

As far as rescue without an attack line. Modern buckets have a line at all times; Water?, that's depends.

  • when the building exploded, the firefighter moved away from the flames but his arm accidently hit the emergency stop button, it took some time to realise what the problem was and he had to restart the engine...

  • GET HIM AWAY FROM THERE!!!!

  • What kind of idiot isnt watching the ladder?!

  • you can't move a ladder truck back when the ladder is out but they could of moved it away

  • was in belgium and as hauschiii said , the emergency stop button was pressed and it took some time to realise :P

  • I think it's what happened .

  • Move the fucking truck back!!!

  • who was @ the controls of this thing??? I think he feel asleep

  • Thank god it ended good...

  • Man I would be pissed if I was the guy up there.

  • Great video, hope you like ours. Keep up the good work

    JT

  • That doesn't look like precision German engineering to me.

  • It´s a Dutch Fire Department, not a German! :-)

  • its not that hard to look and see part of your crew is in trouble and pull back

  • Does anyone know what caused that malfunction i cant believe that they intended to be in that position. if someone could translate the audio maybe we would know more.

  • Boy, am I glad we don't have an emergency stop button in our ladder basket... the operator below can always take control! (Unless the "bumping sensor" is activated, but that is reset from below)

  • I am sorry, but that bucket looks like its a WOK at a Chinese restaurant with all that fire below.

  • Thanks for description, fyrmedik51, about this video

  • what a pooooor man

  • Mickey Mouse Fire Department

  • WTF! What dumb ass even does that one...

No offence to the guy above, but y'all gotta start thinking!

  • Thats plain stupidity i have done that once and i learnt the consequences
