I truly hope that the requirement for researching, learning about and discussing SIDS isn't that a person has lost a child...research would come to a halt and we would lose a lot of good people.
@heavensabvus Yes, I have done research and I also still look on my two kids I have living who are now seven and six every night along with my grown husband just to make sure he is breathing. And no they research so that one day we can find out what causes it. No I do not know what you have been through but unless you have lost a child and had to bury him/her then no I honestly do not see any point in your advice. Because, I do keep on top of what they do with the SIDS research.
You must perform proper "mattress wrapping" as they do in New Zealand, where SIDS is virtually non-existent. Research says it is caused by a fungus in the mattress that creates a gas that stops the baby from breathing. Google mattress wrapping + SIDS. Since putting wrapping into affect no baby on a properly wrapped mattress has died.

My sister died from SIDS on my nan's birthday. We took 3 photos the day before she passed away and they will be the only photos that we ever have of her in her whole life. I was 5 years old at the time when I found her and it scarred me for life. I miss her deeply. She was 6 months old when she moved to heaven and was already trying to stand and walk by herself. It is weird, and of course painful, but in our countries (Latin America) as far as I know, we don't have that type of infant dead.
I gave birth to my two sons here un USA and it was a nightmare to me, due to this terrible sydrome. Thanks God they're now 15 and 12 years old. I'm truly sorry for those parents who loss their babies to SIDS, I know it's an endless pain.

SIDS may due to many factors. Indeed, one very important one is the fact that a baby may suffocate if it is sleeping on its stomach, but it is not the only possible reason. I am taking a course in child development, and my book and teacher say that SIDS can also be due to an unhealthy environment (smoking parents, malnutrition, etc). Also, SIDS appears to occur the most in winter, when the baby is so covered with blankets that it suffocates. There are plenty of plausible causes.
I loss my grandson due to SIDS and a day doesn't go by that I don't think of him and miss him. His sister and brother miss him so much and they wonder why their baby brother died. Our whole family will never get over our loss. Hopefully, in the future they will find a cause for SIDS and stillborn births so parents won't have to endure the grief of losing a child. Every medical article on this topic states the cause of sids is unknown. That means They are SPECULATING that baby sleep position MAY PLAY A PART in sids. They also say it could be developmental/chromosomal problems, the temperature of baby's room or tobacco smoke during/after pregnancy. In short, they have absolutely no real idea.
I noticed the vid mentioned there was no way to prevent SIDS. While that may be true, there are ways to lower the risks of an infant dying of SIDS, such as putting them to sleep on their backs, not their bellies. It has been medically proven as well!
Either way, this is a sad thing to happen to ANY parent.
My heart goes out to all of you that have lost babies to SIDS. My son had SIDS, but was blessed that he survived!!. He stopped breathing over 6 minutes until my dad gave first aid. He does have some brain injury but a very happy son. We have gone to several doctor conferences to give information to help stop aids

i can totally relate, my daughter was 4 months old when she passed away from sids. she was born 12-12-94 and passed away on 4-12-95 and havent dealt with her loss as til this day I dont know how to. THANK YOU FOR THIS, to knwo she didnt hurt when SIDS took her life gave me some relief. She is buried on top of her grandfather at Mount Carmel cemetary in Belleville IL. After all is done to prevent SIDS, sleeping on back, properly tucked in at the foot of the bed on a firm mattress, no toys in the cot, no loss of life to suffocation and no loss of life due to overheating or vaccinations, I wonder if in Fall & Winter, people become more sick with flu/cold/infections and the bacteria they found in autopsy reports for SIDS infants may possibly be responsible for SIDS itself.

Other than the reasons listed at 1:20 on this video, from what I have learned, SIDS is most likely caused by babies being put to sleep on their tummies & suffocating by way of blankets/plliows/toys in their cribs near their heads causing suffocation. This is why they die "in their sleep". Always remember the term "Back To Sleep" & put babies on their backs for sleeping. They can suffocate if not able to turn their heads or are sleeping & don't notice something on their face to move away.

A lesson one can gain from sids is the unexplained is not what you think it is by default. Marriages have (& probably still do) broken up by sids because of spouses blaming each other by default. There are things to do to help prevent sids. A few of those are to always put your baby to sleep on his back and have them sleep with a pacifier. Also studies have shown that haveing air movement in the room (run a fan on low or open a window) helps stimulate breathing while a baby sleeps.

I think this explanation of a baby's passing is such a travesty. More research, more information has to be taken when baby's are found, vaccinations, etc., too many avenues to search and this, this is the ONLY cause professionals want to give us. I fully immunised my 1st child (5) and 2nd child (2) but have not immunised my 5 month old except she had the hep b and vitamin k injection at birth all 3 of my kids are healthy. Some Immunisations may be safe for some babies but not all may be. Some babies have had reactions to some immunisations and not with the other immunisations.
i have read and read on a ton of research that SIDS occurs most often during the period of 1 to six months. That is the time that infants receive the most vaccinations. It has actually been reported that death has occurred within 1 to 7 days of receiving the DPT vaccine. Also a lot of vaccines contain thimerosal (mercury) which is not good for anyone. Seriously think before you go blindly getting ur children vaccinated.

You must perform proper "mattress wrapping" as they do in New Zealand, where SIDS is virtually non-existent. Research says it is caused by a fungus in the mattress that creates a gas that stops the baby from breathing. Google mattress wrapping + SIDS. Since putting wrapping into affect no baby on a properly wrapped mattress has died.

There is not one single cause, it can be several things, like sleeping on the stomach, being around large quantities of smoke, improper room temperature, living in poverty situations. My sister died from SIDS on my nan's birthday. We took 3 photos the day before she passed away and they will be the only photos that we ever have of her in her whole life. I was 5 years old at the time when I found her and it scarred me for life. I miss her deeply. She was 6 months old when she moved to heaven and was already trying to stand and walk by herself. It is weird, and of course painful, but in our countries (Latin America) as far as I know, we don't have that type of infant dead.
I gave birth to my two sons here un USA and it was a nightmare to me, due to this terrible sydrome. Thanks God they're now 15 and 12 years old. I'm truly sorry for those parents who loss their babies to SIDS, I know it's an endless pain.

SIDS may due to many factors. Indeed, one very important one is the fact that a baby may suffocate if it is sleeping on its stomach, but it is not the only possible reason. I am taking a course in child development, and my book and teacher say that SIDS can also be due to an unhealthy environment (smoking parents, malnutrition, etc). Also, SIDS appears to occur the most in winter, when the baby is so covered with blankets that it suffocates. There are plenty of plausible causes.

I loss my grandson due to SIDS and a day doesn't go by that I don't think of him and miss him. His sister and brother miss him so much and they wonder why their baby brother died. Our whole family will never get over our loss. Hopefully, in the future they will find a cause for SIDS and stillborn births so parents won't have to endure the grief of losing a child. Every medical article on this topic states the cause of sids is unknown. That means They are SPECULATING that baby sleep position MAY PLAY A PART in sids. They also say it could be developmental/chromosomal problems, the temperature of baby's room or tobacco smoke during/after pregnancy. In short, they have absolutely no real idea.

I noticed the vid mentioned there was no way to prevent SIDS. While that may be true, there are ways to lower the risks of an infant dying of SIDS, such as putting them to sleep on their backs, not their bellies. It has been medically proven as well!
Either way, this is a sad thing to happen to ANY parent.

He does have some brain injury but a very happy son. We have gone to several doctor conferences to give information to help stop aids

i can totally relate, my daughter was 4 months old when she passed away from sids. she was born 12-12-94 and passed away on 4-12-95 and havent dealt with her loss as til this day I dont know how to. THANK YOU FOR THIS, to knwo she didnt hurt when SIDS took her life gave me some relief. She is buried on top of her grandfather at Mount Carmel cemetary in Belleville IL. Please research Board Certified Neurosurgeon Dr. Russell Blaylock's lectures/comments as to SIDS related deaths and to vaccinations. His interview with Dr. Joseph Mercola is an excellent interview as to the research he's performed, years' worth, actually, in nothing but peer reviewed medical literature.

After all is done to prevent SIDS, sleeping on back, properly tucked in at the foot of the bed on a firm mattress, no toys in the cot, no loss of life to suffocation and no loss of life due to overheating or vaccinations, I wonder if in Fall & Winter, people become more sick with flu/cold/infections and the bacteria they found in autopsy reports for SIDS infants may possibly be responsible for SIDS itself.

Other than the reasons listed at 1:20 on this video, from what I have learned, SIDS is most likely caused by babies being put to sleep on their tummies & suffocating by way of blankets/plliows/toys in their cribs near their heads causing suffocation. This is why they die "in their sleep". Always remember the term "Back To Sleep" & put babies on their backs for sleeping. They can suffocate if not able to turn their heads or are sleeping & don't notice something on their face to move away.

Yes I'm glad they do videos like this too! Gabby-Goo will never be forgotten and will always be apart of our family! Just because she is not here with us does not mean that her spirit is not within us! Make sure we all smile for them everyday they would all want that! I think they all grew to fast for their little bodies to handle! Looks like they might be finally doing research on this after all of my calls to these research centers!!!

why does nobody consider childhood immunizations as a possible cause? Have you seen the ingredients in those shots? Not to mention the fact that the only thing in common with all these babies and the "timing" of SIDS is childhood vaccinations. They get them at 2, 4, 6 months. These babies systems are being flat out attacked by vaccines from the second they are born in the hospital getting their first shot at hours old (HEP B). I am choosing to put off vaccines until my baby is older.

if your kid died of SIDS be consoled. another weak link in the genepool shut down. it's nature's way of filtering out the weak and letting the strong survive. if your kid was too weak to survive, try again and see if a stronger offspring appears. if it dies again, it's probably the parents' fault and that is also nature's way of weeding out the bad genes.

i lost my baby do SIDS...and i did everthing that they told me 2do in the womb and outside they womd...and i still lost him and i dont understand why it happen ....i ask myself what did i do that was so bad...he was onley 2months and 3days old....and he was taking way just like that. he pass away in 98'' and ill naver get over it. i still cry myself 2 sleep ever night i look up and pray 4 him 2come back to me....

There are things to do to help prevent sids. A few of those are to always put your baby to sleep on his back and have them sleep with a pacifier. Also studies have shown that haveing air movement in the room (run a fan on low or open a window) helps stimulate breathing while a baby sleeps.

I think this explanation of a baby's passing is such a travesty. More research, more information has to be taken when baby's are found, vaccinations, etc., too many avenues to search and this, this is the ONLY cause professionals want to give us. Will fight for as long as I can to not have another baby's death be ruled SIDS.

I lost my daughter Heather Michelle to SIDS on July 12th, 1993. She was 3 1/2 months old. I thought it wouldn't happen to me. No one should ever be that naive. Everyone should be educated about SIDS. Thanks for the video.

on august 23rd 2005, melody rose huber was born, on november 18th 2005 the lord took her away, i was 13 and had the flu, my mother had to take my siblings to school, i wacthed mel, i feel asleep, when she came back, she went to wipe mel's face, only to relize she was dead, the sad part is that the night before she was crying, i had a headache, and i kept wishing to myself, that she would shut up and quit crying, ive always felt guilty. rip 8-23-05--11-18-05 MELODY ROSE HUBER.

back to sleep is best a sleeping bag made for babies only is a good idea, babies may wake up playing under the cot quilt and sheets become frustrated and tired and cry and struggle to get there faces out from under quilts/sheets if wrapped up and entangled in them, response to crys, may just alert you to a potential danger you might find them in, if you feel someting is not right about the way your baby is acting/something is not safe enough for your baby trust your instincts seek help/safety.

always trust your instincts if your baby is not acting right, the doctor told me blood in the nose is normal in a baby I took her to another doctor we always trusted he said she had a sinus infection and a slight chest rattle, perscribed antibiotics she had been sweating when she had the blood in the nose and a tonne of liquid snot I would suction out her nostrils with a baby nasal suctioner its not always easy enough breathing through the mouth a cleared out nasal passage is good when sick.

Nice video, here are some risk factors for SIDS:
Sleeping on the tummy in too warm of an environment
Formula feeding rather than breastfeeding
Infant sleeping in non-approved area
and one that is 100% in our control, babies born to women that smoke during pregnancy are THREE TIMES MORE LIKELY TO DIE OF SIDS
Women don't like to hear that but it is true, babies that are small for gest age are at higher risk and that is also a factor in maternal smoking. If you love your baby don't smoke!

i am so sry ppl should know this my son was put on a machine that detected when he wasnt breathing he had aborted sids and they said no things in the bed fitted sheet and blanket heat not above 72 baby on its side pacifier great thing they dont go into a deep sleep dont dress them too warm they are fine naked when in bed put a pillow at the top of the mattress under it leaning it up some babies get silence reflux which can harm them also

ya my friends baby just died of sids last weekend and had her funeral was on friday tha 13th it was sad my friends mom was just crying and crying i feel so bad.....it was her 1st grand child so she is very up set and i dont think it was right for her to see the baby after her death cause they had an open case thing where they see the baby for the last time she was just crying a lot....... :'(

I fully immunised my 1st child (5) and 2nd child (2) but have not immunised my 5 month old except she had the hep b and vitamin k injection at birth all 3 of my kids are healthy. Some Immunisations may be safe for some babies but not all may be. Some babies have had reactions to some immunisations and not with the other immunisations.

i have read and read on a ton of research that SIDS occurs most often during the period of 1 to six months. That is the time that infants receive the most vaccinations. It has actually been reported that death has occurred within 1 to 7 days of receiving the DPT vaccine. Also a lot of vaccines contain thimerosal (mercury) which is not good for anyone. Seriously think before you go blindly getting ur children vaccinated.

I lost my son to SIDS on 10/10/08 but prior to his passing he was sick with a cold. I honestly think that it was more than SIDS. My son was only 1 month and 2 days old when he passed. I would like to meet other parents who lost a baby/child to SIDS, maybe that would help with my greiving proccess.
