Sure we have a first past the post system you nitwit BUT what we are arguing here is that 39% is not a mandate. Harper has not been able to repeat a conservative vote of 50% plus in the ' 84 election with 212 seats and/or 43% in the ' 88 election election. He hasn't come close by a country mile. You should've payed attention in your grade 8 history class.

@PringDaddyPring Well it is much more than the name, although the National Socialist German Workers Party was a very fitting name. The Nazis before the war were very progressive, they put in the richest welfare state the world had ever seen, welfare for the poor, make work projects for the un-employed, dramatically increased the role of the state in education, you my have heard of on of them, kindergarten, meaning children's garden, North America copied, didn't even change the name.

@PringDaddyPring Before the Nazis took power the stood shoulder to shoulder in the Reichstag with the Communists they voted almost identically, the right wing old fashioned conservatives were on the other side. They fought for the same demographic as the the Communists, young socialist radicals. Fascism is socialism for one nationality, even today, look at the economic plan of a Fascist/Nazi party, very close to the NDP, nationalizing banks, more government control ect.

When it was all said and done, Harper ' Hitler' ( in the imagination of the poster ) didn't have anything to worry about. The NDP brought down the Liberals NOT the Conservatives. Harper got a MAJORITY and the NDP is in the hat in hand position. The NDP is the ' opposition' in name only and they can't hold the threat of forming a coalition with the Liberals and the separatist Bloc party over the people who voted Conservative
