thank you for all of them... so many great memories... and just saw todd and kurt and ryan at the media club, and they all looked great, todd sounded great, and they are all still rocking on... :)
Finger Eleven... Our Lady Peace... Kittie... I didn't even realize as a child that most of my favourite bands were not only Canadian, but came from my home province. Now I find out Limblifter is Canadian as well?
Its gotta be something with our collective Canadian consciousness. We see things similarly because we grew up in similar environments, so we connect better with what's being expressed in the music from our home. We also have good taste.
Great tune, great band. In terms of music, the '90's is tough to beat. Nothing before (the '80's), nothing since (hello Britney....sigh). Long live Rock!
until now (i found this while browsing for little mermaid videos, haha) i'd never heard of these guys. music like this is what we could really use today, after most of the pathetic crap being passed off as rock for the past several years.
@thedealbreaker You directed this? In 1997, I was in 9th grade at a private school away from home, in Hamilton. Most of us were out of town except a friend of mine, who lived at home, not far from school. I ditched school with him one Sunday (we had classes on Sun) and we went back to his place and watched Much and this came on. To this day, every time I hear this on my iPod, I feel like I'm back in Hamilton on that quiet, cold Sunday afternoon, enjoying this on Much.
It makes me sad that Limblifter never really hit it big. They totally deserved fame. At least Ryan is gaining some fame from his solo career and Kurt and Todd are gaining fame from The New Pornographers!
I kept hearing this song on the radio and could never figure out who it was or what the name of the song was, and then as I'm going through Limblifter songs it starts playing...MY MIND HAS BEEN BLOWN!
I live right on the border to Canada, so I grew up on Canadian rock. I loved how Canadian bands didn't sellout to the big American record labels. In my opinion Canadian rock from the 90's is the best, not so sure about the new stuff. Especially Nickelback, they can go pound salt.
I don't think they ever did a bad song!! all 3 LL albums are fantastic, also,Ryan Dahles Irrational Anthems is one my favorite albums in a long while!! P.S Ryan is adorable!! :D he was always my favorite AOE member too. even when i was really young and i first saw the "ugly" video i thought man, that guitarist guy has great hair!! lol
When I first saw LL, I'd already waited about 6 years for the opportunity. My expectations were exceeded. I recall that Ryan had taped lyrics to the floor, and read them as he sang. Also, he made the audience yell "sushi" into a sampler, and then played it back at various pitches etc. I walked up to him as he was playing with a tiny gramophone toy that another fan had given, and I was shocked to see that he is as alien looking in real life, as he is in this video.
really, I've go I/O on CD. Nothing can sum up the amount of talent this band has, and I/O has some nice Hits. Like Fiercely Co-Dependant, or The Auctioneer are my Fav's. Never thought of buying there newest album..
This is an awesome song , liked it ever since I heard it on CFox when it was released. This song is always on my "gym" playlist because it has such a steady beat , it's easy to keep in time with your cardio workouts. It's always #2 on my list and helps me get warmed up. Of all the songs I use to work out to , this one is always on #2. Great lyrics , great song. Good job.
as im writing this, this video has like 10,700 views,it kills me, because this shit is so good, and crap videos have hundreds of thousands if not millions of views.Anyway,i gotta go take a shit now.
@jacksters83 yeah, I have a copy of Heroic Doses with the sample from Reservoir Dogs of Mr Pink which they had to remove on subsequent pressings ( at least what I heard -i never checked it out)
Limblifter is one of those bands that is so so so good but never got the credit they deserved. What perfect pop music. Every song on their original CD was incredible.
For another example of this, see the band "failure". Failure was mind blowingly good, no one knows who they are except maybe a handful of people.
Helmet was another disturbingly unfamous band, but at least they have heaps of cred... you can't say that about limblifter.
Is that a real White Falcon or a reissue? Great song....any similarity to the Tinfoil video? If these guys did better vids, would it have helped? Good writers...
This was one of the only good songs on the radio at the time...
Come to think of it, that might have been one of the last times I heard Canadian indie on mainstream radio besides Sloan. It made work liveable!!!

Great post!!
I'm a child of the 70's and I've heard it all.
This is easily one of the best songs a Canadian band put out in the last 40 yrs.
I think the backing vocals are the key.
And the bass player's playing a 'Ricky' (how Canadian is that)
Thanks for the post.
If pressed it might not make the top 10, but it's gotta be up there.

I'd wonder why this wasn't a hit in the lower forty-eight, except it wasn't even released here. Sigh.

@flokatirug You wouldn't believe how much great Canadian rock from the '90's was never released in the States. Such a shame.

thanks for putting this on youtube, very very good band/songs.
just bought the two latest cd by ryan dahle, cause I was able to check out his music on this channel.
except for the lucky few, being a musician is one of the worst paying jobs on the planet.
so, yeah, fantastic songs, great talent, no money. it happens a lot.

bets86 - Limblifter was hardly "indy"
apparently in your world the word "hardly" means "completely".
Limblifter were 'indy'. They released their records in canada under their own label, with no financial support from ANY other label.
This music video for example, was shot with a $15,000 budget, paid entirely by Videofact (funded by much music).
