This van is really fucking fun to drive. I have a rental while my car is in the shop. I was absolutely pissed when they told me all they had were vans. But then they pulled up in this and that all changed. The engine in this thing is absolutely amazing. It has great get up and go, and the fact that it takes E85 saves you a ton of money. (you can still put unleaded in it, but why? E85 is 3.35 here.) I'm 22 and this van is a beast and I'm not ashamed to drive it ha.
@imadonkeykickme the e85 is great yeah but its hard to find alot of places with it and you basicly get less burnable fuel per gallon more power and better fuel economy but less per gallon if you get what i mean so if your planning on getting something for the e85 its not very special
@gradxg Yeah I understand what you are saying. Believe me it pretty much just burns through E85. And the only place by me that I can find that sells it, is by my work, which is over 30 miles away. So it kinda sucks but all in all this is really a great van to drive and has amazing space and even on unleaded it still gets great gas mileage.
Wow I didn't realize dodge changed the gauge cluster for 2010 and it looks a lot better than this one. This reminds me of the old 01-07 caravans. The 4.0L is supposed to be quicker than the new 3.6L but I'd rather lose a bit of speed for the refinement and fuel economy of the new engine. This sounds noisy and unrefined
My mom has this same van.. And I tell you what don't ever step on it from a stop and think it won't chirp.. I'm pretty sure it'll beat our 2005 expedition.
i love siennas but i just came from motor trend where they tested the 2011 models and the dodge beat the sienna by .5seconds...remember it has 15 more bhp
My mom drives a Dodge Caravan, and she thinks she owns a "sports van" on the highway, she drives it like it is 2 inches big, and she goes 0-60 in like 6 seconds, she is horrible!
1) its braking: the grand caravan lurches forward, no matter how softly i may brake. i have compared this to my dad's 1988 Toyota cressida, and the cressida doesnt lurch.
Positive:
1) this van's handling/steering is really good for a vehicle so large. (negates the wide turns a bit)
Me being 6 feet one inches and getting my first car soon enough, i will now look for a car with more leg/headroom. any suggestions?
@pwnrzero jeep wrangler, if you dont mind driving a stick most of them are personally i prefer stick vs. auto, they a pretty roomy and you can easily find one under 5K

@junktoyota the 6 speed has very efficient gearing compare to the 4 or 5 speed in the challengers. it's keeps the RPM's up in the power band. can't wait for the dual clutch auto's in all their cars.

i want being mean about it, i just thought it was weird that u didnt think i know that since it tells you the engine during the vid. this new 3.6L (called pentastar engine) will come first in the 2011 grand cherokee which goes for sale in may. at least 280hp and 12% improve in fuel efficiency. u should look up pentastar v6 on google, a lot of people actually know about it
the new v6 will be better than EVERY current chrysler v6 in power and fuel efficiency. the 3.6L is the first of the new v6's which will be in 2011 grand cherokee. and chrysler is getting rid of the 4.7L v8 because the new v6 will get equal or more power than it since the v8 is heavier. lastly, chrysler is getting rid of the 6.1L srt8 hemi and replace with a 6.4L srt8 hemi. you will see it first in 2011 charger comes out in november or december. but there are no pictures of it yet =(

struts are supposed to be covered for 3/36 k. with the extended warranty on my car its covered up to 75k or 7yrs. my powrtrain is 10 years or lifetime miles! Trust me i wont have my car for 10 yrs at this rate of miles. 2008 versa with 91k miles
My Caravan is an SE with a 3.3l V6....the van has been reliable with no such problems that you have mentioned...and I live in Canada too. Every single Chrysler vehicle sold in Canada has, at the very least, a bumper to bumper warranty lasting 3 years or 60k KM's, whichever comes first. Trust me buddy, I would know. Don't be angry at me because you didn't use your warranty and got ripped off by the service department. Not my fault.

thats the sxt 4.0 liter. in the s.e. version its just different kinds of features, same quality, like no touchscreen, not tv, no roof racks that type of stuff.
caravans are way more reliable than any other van, the 3.3 is the base engine and you cant expect much, they are reliable. if you going to bitch so much you should have got the 3.8 or 4.0 dumbass.
nothing truly amazing, but the new C30. I drove both the manual and automatic. The pull of that turbo is exciting (not the word i'm looking for). I had driven a few other turbo's, the Jetta 2.0T to name one, and the Volvo is so much more refined with a broader range of torque. I timed this at 8.5 seconds 0-60, the Volvo easily does 6.5 seconds.
Yeah, Volvos 2.5T engine is quite amazing, it makes all of its torque between 1500-4500rpm. I have a V70 2.4T and V70 T5. Although the 2.4T doesn't have as much horsepower as the T5, it feels stronger until about 85mph.
Wow. What a drop from 3rd to 4th gear. Wouldn't it be smarter for dodge to make the 1st through 3rd gear ratios just a tiny bit longer? Seems to me like the constant shifts slow it down
You people have to admit that's impressive for a mini van, especially considering that less than a decade ago these things were lucky if they hit 60 in less than 10 seconds.
This Chrysler minivan uses a 6 speed automatic called the "62te" which is a derivative of the old "41te" used in many Chrysler vehicles. Of course, the original a604 was the design which spawned all of these derivatives. It is 100% a Chrysler transmission, and should not be confused with the NAG1 5 speed automatic that is a Mercedes designed unit used in some RWD and all AWD LX cars.
For the LX RWD cars (300, Charger, Challenger) which do not use the NAG 1 5 speed auto they use the "42rle" which is a complete 100% Chrysler design and was basically a beefed up version of the 41te and also designed for a RWD configuration.
Have you considered the weight of this beast? Don't be so quick to judge based on gauges alone. The reason the RPM stay so high is the transmission is keeping the engine in the rev band so as to keep the power at it's peak. Luckily this has a six speed so there are many gears between low and high to achieve keeping it in said powerband.
too bad they suck..oh an I got 8.2 seconds on my stopwatch. Not too bad for a van. I thought it would be quicker with the 4.0L but guess not as quick as the Sienna. My sienna is fast as hell.

ill race a sienna any day in my 05 3.3 230 hp and ill smoke it, anyways ahahha is this sxt a 3.8 or 4.0L? the 4.0L are rated at 278 stock.

nothing truly amazing, but the new C30. I drove both the manual and automatic. The pull of that turbo is exciting (not the word i'm looking for). I had driven a few other turbo's, the Jetta 2.0T to name one, and the Volvo is so much more refined with a broader range of torque. I timed this at 8.5 seconds 0-60, the Volvo easily does 6.5 seconds.

Yeah, Volvos 2.5T engine is quite amazing, it makes all of its torque between 1500-4500rpm. I have a V70 2.4T and V70 T5. Although the 2.4T doesn't have as much horsepower as the T5, it feels stronger until about 85mph.

Because, people were impressed with the Grand Caravan, which does 0-60 in 8.1 seconds. However, it is not the fastest minivan out there.

Wow. What a drop from 3rd to 4th gear. Wouldn't it be smarter for dodge to make the 1st through 3rd gear ratios just a tiny bit longer? Seems to me like the constant shifts slow it down

This Chrysler minivan uses a 6 speed automatic called the "62te" which is a derivative of the old "41te" used in many Chrysler vehicles. Of course, the original a604 was the design which spawned all of these derivatives. It is 100% a Chrysler transmission, and should not be confused with the NAG1 5 speed automatic that is a Mercedes designed unit used in some RWD and all AWD LX cars.

For the LX RWD cars (300, Charger, Challenger) which do not use the NAG 1 5 speed auto they use the "42rle" which is a complete 100% Chrysler design and was basically a beefed up version of the 41te and also designed for a RWD configuration.

Have you considered the weight of this beast? Don't be so quick to judge based on gauges alone. The reason the RPM stay so high is the transmission is keeping the engine in the rev band so as to keep the power at it's peak. Luckily this has a six speed so there are many gears between low and high to achieve keeping it in said powerband.

too bad they suck..oh an I got 8.2 seconds on my stopwatch. Not too bad for a van. I thought it would be quicker with the 4.0L but guess not as quick as the Sienna. My sienna is fast as hell.

Every single 0-60 video I see you commenting on you always have something bad to say for the vehicle being filmed and then you ALWAYS JUST HAVE TO say how MUCH FASTER YOUR SIENNA IS. If you have to go around to videos all the time just to try and make yourself feel better then you should probably get social help.
