  • this old school for the 40 sumthins!!!my my

  • I'll post an earlier Timex S.C concert @ the State Fair when we had a Live Band that was actually playing the songs, but this is a nice video especially for the Bay history of pre-rap hip hop whatever.

  • this is the parent song to "why you treat me so bad" by club nouveau.

  • Now that you mention it, there are some similarities in the beat and the lyrical content between the two songs.

  • yes---producers foster& mcelroy were originally slated to re-do and produce the track for "thinkin bout ya" just like they did rumors. they started re-writing and re-arranging the track on their own thinking it would go to mike marshall and timex, but the group opted not to do business with jay king, who hired foster & mcelroy. so they kept the foster & mcelroy version, wrote new lyrics and melody, and "why you treat me so bad" was born.

  • I see. Thanks for the history lesson.

  • The 1st Club Nouveau Album entitled Life, Love & Pain, contained 2 covers of original Timex Social Club songs. The first was "Jealousy" (Rumors) and then came "Why You Treat Me So Bad" (Thinkin' About Ya).

  • Also of note, "Lean On Me" (Bill Withers) was also a cover song, so, out of the 8 tracks on the Warner Bros. album, only 5 were originals. Hold Up!, lets recount. Since track #8 was just a reprise of track #3 "Lean On Me", that would make it 4 originals. This was an early example of how to go platinum using other peoples songs. Ya dig?

  • true-true.

  • merci
