  • I would like to have ur skills :/

  • Using a ski for a limb.....fuckin eh! Great idea bud!

Your video made me go out and get at it.

    Thanks and cheers from Canada!

    Yes, I liked your videos.

  • @jacksonhobbs1 :D thanks

  • @jacksonhobbs1 I made my bow with free but modern pair of cross country skis and I am blow away!

I tried other bow making projects but this one was 3 hours and I was shooting. I was hitting targets from 40 yards and going through plywood.

    Total kick ass bow!

This is the best thing I've got from youtube!

    Thanks!

  • @jacksonhobbs1 that's great to hear

  • Awesome job! Gonna make this bow :D

  • u sound like u are reading a script !! ... only let down :P nice bow though

  • @Shortyaustralia well I am reading a script, most of my videos have over 1000 words in them and if i didn't write them out, i would miss lots of details and there would be alots of umms and arrhs, but i will try talk more naturally in future

  • @meanman1992 dats ok :) public speaking's just one of those things that looks easier than it is :P the only problem for me is that i live in Australia, so its almost impossible to find ski's :) and we don't have any good woods for bows

  • i made three bows using one pair of ski's , the ski's had carbon fibre in them one bow has 45lbs draw weight the second has 50 lbs draw weight the third bow i used the two back halves of the ski's and it has 75 lbs @ 26" ...... ski's work great... nice job on the video .

  • Hey, that other dude is wearing my beanie! Nice bow btw, and good tutorial.

  • @skatingisthebest14 thanks bum head

  • what do you study at Uni?

  • Nice video!. I'll be making one soon.

  • @PWArchery :) make sure you show me!

  • both tutorials are good , liked 'em very much !!

    bigmac.

  • what could you use instead of skis for the limbs

  • @encorebass321 well you can buy limbs

  • @meanman1992 what are your skis called that you bought??

  • @encorebass321 as in the brand?? I don't remember

  • @meanman1992 the only skis i can find are vintage and over £100

  • @encorebass321 oh thats no good, yeah I really suppose it depends where you live

  • thanks for the ski idea..i hav tried this style of take down bow before ..looked good bot not reany powerfull or sturdy. i have just ordered the skis on ebay...wish me luck

    lee

  • @lpilk2007 good luck :)

hey id love to see it when your finished

  • Nice tutorial man.

  • @ArtistBlade1972 why thank you sir

  • P.S how far does your bow go?

    Need to know!

  • Yes I have really good blue prints what computer program did you use if not how did you amount to such surgical precision and a bit I forgot to put in the limbs are placed at 10 degrees and I'm sorry I didn't know that I only started an account last week I thought YouTube went through a whole process of clarifying likes so they took a long time sorry but I really like you videos and methods they are close to perfect and I will look towards meanman1992 if I am stuck on a project.

    Thanks:)

  • Thank you I now have an affordable bow that I can make without fear of screwing up thanks to your two tutorials.

    I liked :)

  • @MrMbierlein no worries and thank you that really helps me out :D

  • @meanman1992@meanman1992 hey um i have finished my blue prints of my riser and these are the measurements height=46cm about 19 inches width=13cm about 6 inches i'm thinking about changeing the width to 15cm about 7 inches what would you suggest by the way this has been done on a computer not on paper because i had no sheet big enough for that size i downloaded a picture of a riser same as yours in video but coloured and i have shaped accouringly to the measurements above.

    i liked again :D

  • @MrMbierlein have you looked at the drawings I have posted? tinyurl(dot)com/5wss8jv

also I appreciate the extra likes but I'm pretty sure the way youtube works it will only register one like per account :s

  • Hey Kurt

I've got Ski's But they have the plastic molding on the belly and I see you remove this due to it being scratched and looking ugly. You say you don't have to remove this, But in the case with my ski's I think I must remove it to access the Rivets holding on the metal trim. So I guess I'm asking if you know of a way to remove the trim without taking off the Plastic Belly (the Belly of the Ski's look great and I don't want to remove if I don't have to) Any help would be great Thanks

  • @RedRumKurt Tha'ts a good point, well when i cut the skis down to the width that i wanted, I had removed material past where the trim would have been anyway, the main reason I removed the trim in the first place was so i could use a wood saw to cut the edges off to get the skis to the desired width. You can still cut the edges off without removing the trim but u will have to use a hacksaw(trim is normally steel) instead of a woodsaw which will make things some what slower. Does that make sense?

  • @meanman1992 Perfect sense. Yeah a lil more elbow grease but I think I will be able to do it. Thanks for the direction and Tutorial.

  • @RedRumKurt pleasure

  • Hi Kurt, In the Royal Navy & Royal Australian Navy, weapons were designated as Mark 1, Mark 2 etc. Following tradition with many other navies my risers will be Mark1 (Mk1), Mark 2 (Mk2) & so on. I will forward you photos as soon as I get the exotic wood sorted into the arrangements that I am happy with. Best wishes Roy & again many thanks for those videos

  • @renown1945 Oh ok of couse and to answer your question from before, look forward to seeing those picture.

  • God damnit Kurt haha stop using the word froth in your tutorials. It's so contrasting to the formality of your videos. Nah, but seriously, use froth for often. It is win haha.

  • @steveek123 Everyone should take pay attention here to Steve, he is a good example, see this is the kind of feedback that I need.

We can all learn from Steve :p

  • thanks very much for the videos! They will help me so much when i do my own this winter!

  • @gurraglaa awesome, id love to see it

  • i was wondering if you could use skiis for bow limbs and i guess you can. Great video!

  • Many thanks Kurt, I am well into the Mk 1 riser with Mks 2 & 3 planned. Great tutorials, any chance of one on arrows??????? again thanks, Roy

  • @renown1945 pleasure, and no won't be making one for arrows sorry

  • @renown1945 sorry I don't know what Mk means?
