  • He isn't the real Aragorn. Viggo Mortensen is the real one, not he!

  • what kind of camera you use? Looks like a Sony HD handheld. Only available light used?

  • @FilminToronto

I second this question. What kind of camera(s) did you use? Also, what did you use for the digital grading/color correction?

  • I hope the make more, this is really good

  • These guys are my heroes.

  • The title "Fan Film" does not do it justice, you people are absolutely incredible

  • Can anyone tell me what editing system and cameras their using?

  • 21 people lost the way....

  • really good film. love it. I now watch it before The Lord Of The Rings. I really like the acting of the actor who plays Aragorn.

  • you really need good actors for an engaging story

  • the aragorn in this i gotta say his actor look's alot like viggo's aragorn but you all have to agree the hunt for gollum aragorn look's to gloomy and talk's a little to quietly but above all pretty good acting :)

  • Awesome acting & cinematography! A real joy to watch.

  • where can you buy a really good orc costume like the ones they use in this movie? would really like to know

  • Seeing another Dúnedain is like the feeling when I saw other Jedi like Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi Won in Episode 1 of Star Wars.

  • dislike part is like bibers penis :P

  • Thnx. Saw it last nite. Was amazing. I loved it. Really gr8.

  • we need a helm hammerhand movie

    More money would make difference

  • HELLO

What kind of gear did you use?

This is amazing looking, quality footage considering what gear you used.

I see what look like some red rock 35 mm adapters.

But what kind of lenses were you using? I have an HVX200, im happy with the

quality but I know I can get it to look this good.

    Help me out?

    Thanks

  • Iceriver1000 If they should have the LOTR cast iv'e got a feeling that the "Low" would go off the "Budget" :I

  • 14 people couldn't find Gollum

  • @Chaserpeach 21 poeple you mean

  • Where's my Viggo? :\ He's a way better actor, so are the other casts of LOTR

  • @Iceriver1000 if they were going to have the LOTR cast, i think that the "low" would go off the "budget" :I

  • I still don't understand why Gandalf had so little a role in the story here, when he was so pivotal in the books. When I first heard of the production, I was expecting the story to be about Aragorn and Gandalf searching for Gollum together; at least showing how necessary the two of them were.

  • PLEASE!!!!!! Keep making more lord of the rings movies. They are AWESOME! Or even come up with your own story and stuff!

  • what the fuck is The Hunt For Gollum!?!??!?

  • @DaysRefrain Have you ever read the lord of the rings?

  • @thinsulite no i havent but ive watched it

  • @DaysRefrain If you read the books then you would know. It's a small part in it which is only explained in small detail.

  • hi great film . would you be so kind as to tell me the equpment you used. ie what kind of cam do you use. ONCE AGAIN GREAT WORK. welldone.

  • I always love making-ofs, but the making of an amazing fanfilm that cost less than £5.000 is even more interesting. Awesome job, guys ! Love this.

  • It's so lovely that so many people from so many countries and backgrounds can come together to pay homage to such a great story and world.

  • iooo

  • great movie i realy realy realy enjoied every minute

  • aragorn look very funny

  • OOMMG!! why the FOk does it stop at 05:10 ???

  • Wow very nicely done! Keep up the good work! When can we see it?

  • @sasukevsorochimaru See WHAT? The film has been out for about a year or so, I think. Its here on utube.

  • There should be a donate button here

  • wats cool about this is the actors look very much like a younger version of the real deal

  • This video should be released ondvd i would buyit !!!! :) also it should be canon beacuse it'sso well done and really fill's a gap

  • AMAZING!!! Chris and his Team gives the whole art work a breath of life to it - Superb Quality.

  • fairplay, thats excellent

  • very very inspiring

  • I love the composure at the end of this video

  • amazingly inspiring

  • I'll bet peter jackson loved this

  • with a bigger budget and more action and longer i'd pay anything for a copy

  • WHOAWR!

  • wow

  • I can't believe they did all this with 5000 bucks...thats some real money management skills!

  • @MDkid1 it is impressive, though you have to remember that the whole crew was volunteer, if you were to add salaries, even modest ones, your still looking at several hundred grand (though still an impressive feat in terms of movie making)

  • @MDkid1 3000

  • MORE MOVIES LIKE BORN OF HOPE AND THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM!

  • Les then 3000 pounds?? wow it looked like it cost 300 000 pounds.Amazing!

  • Woman fight coordinator....

  • Excellent work! enjoyed it..

  • simply incredible, would have worked on it too

  • this and the hunt for gollum is amazing!!!!

  • As a huge fan of the books and the Peter Jackson films I can only say how hugely impressed I was with your film. I don't know what I expected from a low budget 'prequel' but I was completely blown away. The music, costumes, cinematography and acting were all brilliant ! Very well done to all of you. You also seem to have got the atmosphere and colour pallette of the Jackson movies off to a tee. Great 4 stars !!

  • The one thing that very slightly bothers me, is Aragorns voice. Apart from that, it's definitely worthy of The Lord of the Rings title. :)

  • I can see this being picked up and being released on DVD, seriously. Who else is stunned?

  • @Pauluk33 Me! I'm stunned too! I would totally buy this on DVD. It's a wonderful collaboration; and shows what beauty can be created when people work together for the 'love' of something and not for the money. Hokey; I know, but it's true.

I hope he does something else; like explore the friendship between Merry [sp] & Pipin. Great work! b/b)O(

  • £3,000, holy fuking shit. With the film on this quality, bloody hell ;0

  • I live right next to Epping forest! Whooo!

  • hollywood, one little hint:

    YOU'RE POWNED

  • What camera did you use?

  • Would have been awesome to be part of this. :)

  • Amazing job on this...I couldn't believe I was watching a low budget film when I saw it

  • Very well done! This was probably the most complete and thorough behind the scenes I've ever seen! You forgot one part though - who was in the bag?? :)

  • @coolboarder44 : I'm pretty sure it was a little kid. =) Poor guy, being carried around in a bag 90% of the time XD

  • It was very nice to watch and i honestly found it very thrilling and tense . . Very nice

  • very well done, indeed. I really enjoyed both the Hunt for Gollum and the behind the scenes. very interesting seeing all of it. Bravo!

  • the sex pixels XD

  • Amazing!

When an author writes a book for the love of writing, it makes a great book, when producers make a film for the love of it, it makes a great movie and when a JRR Tolkien fan watches, it makes a great watch!!

Can't believe you made this movie with less money than our prime minister invests to get one his speeches written for him.

    Kuddos

p.s: please remake the battle of Gondor

  • @MySherlockholmes : You think the battle of Gondor needs to be remade ? Why's that ? It was awesome ! =)

  • Amazing!

  • Did they take out the skinning of the rabbit and lighting the fire in the final release?

  • Great work!

  • That was really ambitious project! Huge respect for the whole crew for finishing it, and giving to the people :) Amazing!

  • 3:26 ahhh, the clone! hes back again!

  • better than sci-fi movies!

  • Great job, great movie. It lacked some depth. But that was made up with love for tolkien. I mostly liked the bit where Aragorn stands in front of the statue of Elendil. That was something that would fit in Peter Jackson's movies as well. All in all, I'd say it was a 8 out of 10.

  • this is a great doc. and the film was even better :D

  • Never heard of this....Sounds really awesome. And on such a small budget!

  • All I can say is thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And I would love you if you tackled the Silmarillion, though part of me dreads the Silm becoming a movie of any sort. I worry that it would be messed up. But seeing this, I believe you could do a convincing job.

  • Loved this great vid but a few screws ups but who cares great vid guys

  • wow you guy's put alot into this film!

  • when I saw the trailer I thought - this is either a joke, like just the trailer, or it's gonna be an AWFUL film. But I think this one will be different ... it's cute that so many people got together and made this. I'm gonna go watch it now ....... PLEASE GUYS DON'T DISAPPOINT ME!!!! lol

  • is the rabbit fake? looks pretty real to me.

  • Only 300 pounds! 8O That's Amazing! It's such an awsome movie!

  • Any deleted scenes? Extended edition of the movie??

  • Silmarilion is going to take a lot of work and would be best told in a trilogy. I would love to see it made by Jackson. But if this great team ever does another LOTR fan film I would suggest telling the missing parts of the story from the book that didn't made it into the films - mainly the parts form The Fellowship of the Ring. They skipped a lot of good stuff traveling to Bree.

  • it would be great if they made the silmarillion, but its a much bigger task to tackle than this. Its a much wider, longer story with difficult aspects to it. But you never know....it might happen one day, either a fan film or a real film.

  • hey,,love this!!

  • Can't you make a movie about the time after "Lord of the Rings"? Or the meeting with Tom Bombadil?

  • @Amandarine789 Please not Bombadil lol

  • @bri4u2906 Bombadil would be a great continuance!

  • Comment removed

  • Can't you make a movie of the time after "Lord of the Rings"?

  • @Amandarine789 that would be awesome!!!!

  • 23:05 holy fuck! that is an awesome sound desk!

  • This team should tackle The Silmarillion, since New Line cannot acquire the rights. Unless a team like this takes it on, as a labor of love, I doubt it will ever be brought to screen.

  • I really wish the producers didn't say it cost $5000... Which is an outright lie, and a really sad decision, since by saying so demeans all the work of the amazing artists and crew.

The value of all their work actually should add 3 zeroes.

Great work to say the least.

  • I love the movie and it was really well made, But I thought Gandalf only found out about the ring in the Fellowship, when he went to the Shire ?

  • @ericorenato88 Gandalf knew about the ring Bilbo had because it is part of the story of The Hobbit. Several clues lead him to figure out it was the One Ring. Isildur, Gollum and now Bilbo had all called a magic ring "Precious". Bilbo lied about the ring contrary to his nature, he didn't age and described feeling "thin". This alarmed Gandalf who then suspected Bilbo might have the ring once taken by Isildur from Sauron. So he went to read up, and sure enough discovered a test to prove his fears..

  • you guys should've made owh characters within the universum of lord of the rings

  • should of used all the money, to make this fan made lotr hunt of gollum movie, and make it a 5 star porno

  • Destiny schmestiny! In the BOOK, there is none of that silly debate in the movie, of whether Aragorn should take up the Crown.

  • WHATT! 9000?

  • thank's a MILLION! it was really worth watching!

  • I have read the books twice, watch the movies more then 100 times.

I have one thing to say: Respect.

How you got the feeling right, especially with Aragorn and the other Ranger, it was a wonderful scene! I am really looking forward for the next movie!

  • I watched the movie. It was phenomenal. Have you ever considered making Fan Fiction based stories by other authors before?

  • wish I was part of the film crew... nice work!

  • Fantastic fan movie. Almost a superior version of Aragorn than in the LOTR movies - at least in terms of "coolness". And the sense of the scope of the Ranger/Dunedain community from that one chance meeting in the wilds was nicely understated. I do hope you all get jobs from this!

  • I love this movie. Best fan made movie ever, but one thing i cant figure out is when Aragorn speaks with the ranger the ranger says "I am Arathir, son of Argonthn"... lol wut

  • they should do the tom bombadil part

  • good going!

  • it was an amazing film, very well done. Very happy to see so many people come together out of love for the books and the movies.

  • lol on 04:00 you can hear a women gettin baby

  • @SpartanT90 I was like "WTF IS GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND?" When i eard that.

  • IMPRESSIVE on several levels.

I would love to see what this core team could do with a real budget!

Made by fans- for fans ...and without the "guidance" of those IDIOT studio execs who hinder the life of so many great stories for the sake of profit and power.

    THANK YOU. WELL DONE!

  • @kahtuh Great synopsis; I don't think anyone could have summed it up better than you just did! b/b)O(

  • @avallonmist Thanks, I'M SAYIN'! Ha ha ha!

Ok...my sense of humor is runnin' away with me on this one, so I gotta ask even though it shows my ignorance.

Please... what does this mean? - b/b)O(

  • @kahtuh You're not ignorant; the b/b- means Blessed Be and the -)O( is a symbol of the Moon when she is waxing, full & then wanning. It's just something I do; but I'm curious...what did your "sense of humor" think it meant ;-) LOL.

  • this movie is just fantastic and the actors did a great and convincing!

i'm already excited about the next one :D

  • @Rainelfy

is there going to be a next one?

  • @nathanlufcfan I hope so ;)

  • When you say "the next one", are you referring to their next LOTR project (if they do one) or their next project in general?

  • awesome awesome job. so professional. the scenery is beautiful.

  • at 1:35 that shot is gorgeous!! Brovo for capturing that

  • it's 27:11 min's long

  • simply amazing...THANK YOU for such a great film.

    xoxo

  • You guys are all great. It's really quite inspiring actually. Thank you for making this fantastic film.

  • Considering EVERYTHING, freak that, it's a goddamn well-made movie, just as assassin's creed's promotional movies, it tears all the big-giant-allstars movie makers and their budges to ashes.

  • Когда я смотрю сколько труда люди вложили в создание этого фильма,то он начинает мне нравится ещё больше.

When I look how many work people have enclosed in creation of this film it begins to me it is pleasant even more.

  • I'm ridiculously impressed. I can't get over how much effort, professionalism and selflessness was brought to such a "small" project. It's genuinely inspiring.

  • OMG! You shot this in Essex?! xD ... So much more local than NZ, eh?

  • Ok I said this already on the movie page, but I have to do it again, so here it goes, to everyone included in the production of this movie:

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

  • Kudos to all involved. Well done considering the budget.

  • Can't agree what this is, The hunt for gollum, Im probably dumb-.-

  • this is fantastic work with so much love for details.

  • 13:04 Kubrick in background

  • The rabbit! :L

  • 13:36 stanley kubrick. true legend :)

  • I wish I knew about this when it started, I live right next to epping forest so I would have been willing to come out and do anything.

  • this vid is amazing!! love the "movie", and i couldn't believe that it lasted for 40 whole minutes!! it felt like something along 15....

  • wow! Really well done! Increadible :D

  • this proves that you don't need to be mr Jackson and have millions of dollars to make a great entertaining film

  • as far as i am concerned, LOTR is now a quadrilogy!

  • where was this filmed? it looks like AK

  • Yes, UK (and Wales)

  • This was filmed Where exactly lol?

  • probably england by the accents... but that was a bit obvious, wasn't it?

  • epping forest is just outside London

  • i believe you should make more lotr movies you're awsome!!!!!!

  • Wouldn't be an epic Lord of the Rings movie without kick-ass extras. Nice vid.

  • Please Do Shadow of the colossus.. you guys are awesome ! I am at your service .

  • fantastic completely if u ever make a nother one i wud luv to take part i used to do drama lessons and stuff so yeah plz think bout it

  • i preferred this to born of hope. the long scenes of aragorn by himself were beautiful, obviously the actor could never replace viggo mortisen but i thought he brought a intresting, lonely take on the character that i loved. so kudos to him, he was awesome. also the fact you managed this with just 5k is unbelieveable, the orcs looked amazing for sucha tiny budget.

  • I LOVE your movies =DD, The "Born of Hope" -> Brilliant, and the hunt for Gollum ---> YAYY, love it all lol xP Thx for uploading them =P

    I Rate 100 of 5 lol xP

  • The only bad thing about this that it wants to be like the big movie... Poor thing. It could be so much better of it would be about the book, the story what Tolkien wrote. I mean what is this shit about Aragorn not understanding his destiny? The Aragorn from the movie maybe, but Strider certainly does...
