  • I was listening to this one day and i thought it was REALLY good and i wondered what it was called i finally found out what was. but anywhere the point is she is an amazing singer and i give her "two thumbs up"

  • On Choice Cuts DVD (which is all of Pat's videos) she & Neil also comment on all of them; they didn't like how this was shot; said it had nothing to do w/the song. From my knowledge actually I thought this song was a tribute song to Bob Marley or am I thinking of another song?

  • I get an MLK feeling about this - the cars, the people, all feels like it's set in the 60's. And the way everyone comes together at the stoplight, and the way race is highlighted. This was MLK's golden dream. At any rate, it is an absolutely gorgeous song. Love it!

  • Her voice can melt gold.

  • Always been a hugh fan of Pat Benatar, this is one of my particular favourites, and does'nt she look amazing.

  • 4 ppl R musically retard'd...

  • Te Amo Pat... espero vengas algun dia a ARGENTINA ♥

  • I ended up buying "Wide Awake in Dreamland" 3 times....LOL, kept wearing the cassette out LITERALLY!!! Truly one of her best works, and she had SO many.

  • @wrxmike123 I can imagine this would sound pretty damn good on the road, even bumping through a Scooby's speakers :P

  • @inudude15 The whole CD is great for when you're on the road.I'm surprised my copy isn't worn out.The factory stereo in the 06 STI,s is surprisingly sufficient for my liking.

  • @wrxmike123 Yeah, they aren't too bad these days. I was actually surprised by how much better my bugeye got after just switching to a Kenwood headunit. Of course, the sound of a boxer once it cracks thirty-five hundred or so isn't all that bad either...

  • @inudude15 3500 is about where she begins to scream ;-) That's always a nice song as well.

  • Her BEST song.

  • @Elmare1from her best album! Sadly overlooked

  • love love love this song

  • OMGosh....Pat Benatar is an intercessor. GO GOD!

  • I dont know if its just me o she became more beautiful with the age, like the vine.

  • ever seen her perform? this lady can ROCK!!

  • Pat is a real Lady. And this one is not gaga...

  • I would like to understad why does people always have to say something about Madonna... Ah.. Come on! Let Madonna live her life, and if she has all sucess she has it's because she works hard like a machine. Pat sings better, but there's no artist with a power to transform yourself and reborn like Madonna... Eveyone is unique in its especial way!!!

  • Who in their right mind can dislike this song; I mean really!

  • one day every heart will be strong against the night what

    beautiful poetry

  • My favourite Pat Benatar song out of all of them...

  • this is real music

  • @2011iam4god Are you really that stupid? How do you know this? Let me guess the lord take time out of his busy day to talk to some nut job like you? Grow the fuck up.

  • @2011iam4god gool fly away fool.... fly away

  • sexy women

  • Gosh she looks hot in this video - GO PAT - you rock!

  • @denyelle1 I think she was in her mid to late 30s here. Age has caught up with her now that she's approaching 60. Still she has golden pipes!

  • this song is amazing! why didn't Disney include this in the Lion king soundtrack? did anyone not think to ask her record label in "93?

  • THIS SONG WOULD HAVE BEEN A PERFECT SONG ON THE ORIGINAL LION KING SOUNDTRACK! NOBODY THOUGHT TO ASK?

  • Gd song.

  • One of my all-time fave Pat songs. Always falls in the shadow of the trademark songs. Always will remember seeing Neil Geraldo riding his bike along my tour bus in Maui. Amazing!!!

  • I've seen Pat and Neil in concert several times and always a great show!

  • Of Course Pat is a better singer than Madonna.

  • @fr8bear Vocally, there is no dispute.

  • @fr8bear ....Madonna can't even compare. She had her 15 minutes, but great music is eternal; And Miss Pat owned it...

  • Comment removed

  • @fr8bear ...You already knew this - Forgive me, please...

  • There aren't many songs ( or videos) that can send a shiver down your spine like this one does - brilliant!

  • ¡¡¡FRANCAMENTE LA MEJOR, INCREÍBLE, GENIAL, siempre la he amado a esta tremenda Rockera, GRANDE PAT!!!

  • I simply feel LOVE!

  • What ever happened to her??

  • @tweethang1 She goes on Crossroads show on CMT and out sings wannabe country singers

  • @tweethang1 She and her husband do summer tours. She's touring now. They've had allot of albums out. They just experiment, write music, and have fun. Never were they in rehab, in tabloids, nor ever did Pat Benatar feel the need to hump a stage. You don't have to sell your soul for rock in roll.

  • @ivegottaheadache well said

  • I think Pat benatar is one of the greatest. But is anybody else getting a Sigourney Weaver thing off this?

  • @TheAdultChild101 I'm getting a Sigourney Weaver, Jorja Fox, Martina McBride mixture on the whole thing.

  • I Love My Mom

    Kristen

  • Pat & her band were truly great - just one more example that it was the ROCK of the 70's that was REALLY the great music (even though she didn't really hit it until the end of the 70's, early 80's). This song came very late in her career, and musically, is one of the most under-rated. Heart actually paved the way for her.

If this IS about bob marley, then it just goes to show that she didn't really understand that stinky stoner, and that she was also suceptable to Political Correctness.

  • She rocks just as good and hard as any band , and there are many local bands around here even all guy bands that cover her tunes. I was 10 in '85 and had crimes of passion along with Vanhalen, twisted sister, etc and every time id play it for my friends i remember getting picked on till they heard her and then it was holy s**t dude!, and simply put i always heard then and now that she friggin rocks! Ive loved her since 1985! I

  • my second favorite pat benatar song.

  • Still LOVE this song. I always thought the "lion" reference was about Aslan, the Christ-figure in the Chronicles of Narnia. Right or wrong?

  • about Jesus

  • @GrandPrixHorses Nice to hear I'm not the only one that thinks that :D

  • Thx uploader, had forgot about this track.

  • Pat Benatar was a way better singer than Madonna but Madonna marketed herself better.

  • @scheckdj True that ... have to agree with this assessment.

  • Comment removed

  • one of benatar's best.

  • ok I gotta say I have loved this song forever it is truly a spiritual and loving song. Pat is truly an icon in an industry full of fake artist and drama. Pat is awesome

  • @randpierce he was also a groundbreaker in a world that was once only man bands. You Go Pat!! You make us all proud!!! keep Rockin.

  • @janieworms God Bless your heart! I also believe the Bob Marley connection here... musicians have their own Gods in their channels and that makes sense to them and i will NOT judge this... God is in all and through all...

  • This is one of my all-time favorite Pat Benatar songs. There will never, ever, be another Pat Benatar! Truly one of a kind.

  • I love this song.. I have always loved her music. She reaches and pulls...

  • hard to believe that strong voice coming out of that hot little body

  • hard to believe that strong voice coming out of that hot little body

  • what a voice .....love this song ..... in my top 3 from pat ..... thanks emimusic for posting..... good stuff

  • Her face is very beautiful up close (all respect to her husband).

It's not clear to everyone that this song is about Bob 'One Love' Marley?

  • this is one of the most powerful songs Pat Benatar recorded. I'm not ashamed to say that it makes me cry when i hear it. if you are spiritual in any way then this song will immediately bring to mind the person that affects you the most. for me, it is the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

  • @63jguerrero Amen I also think of our Lord and Savior, Jesus when I hear this song. Don't listen to people who put you down for that because music brings out many different emotions and we all desiver it on our oun levels. Until you personally ask Pat Benatar you won't know exactly who she was thinking of when she wrote this song. I do also see a Bob Marley connection.

  • once there was a man and he was the greatest man to sing a song, we miss you bob marley, RIP

  • Billy De Williams at 1:07

  • is this like a tribute to Bob Marley?

  • @smarterthanmyclass It's about AFRIKA. Good guess is Nelson Mandela.

  • @smarterthanmyclass Yup. The references are all over the place.

  • @smarterthanmyclass

Yes, this song is a tribute to Bob Marley.

Pat and Neil said so in the commentary feature on the "Pat Benatar: Choice Cuts - The Complete Video Collection" DVD.

  • Wow cool nice to hear modern music that sounds 80s = ) does she use linndrum?

  • i thought this was an old vid she hasnt aged a bit acotarod you heard the songs message

  • Bon Scott !

  • I thank Pat Benatar not for the music, but for the rock'n'roll! She's the queen of rock! I love her voice! Too bad XM radio doesn't have a station dedicated to playing only her songs just as Bruce Springsteen does. Perhaps I should start a petition. ;-)

  • I love this song...from her 'Greatest Hits' cd. She looks great in longer hair and toned-down makeup. I also admire the fact that she stayed with her husband for so long. She's had a stable and good life. :-)

  • Pat is A better singer then Madonna inmho

  • @Tacomadome24

lol- she's got an 8 octave voice - and Madonna can barely hum in tune.

yet, this song, not so good.

  • @Tacomadome24

Madonna is not really a singer. She's a pop star, and an icon in her own right.......but she can't sing. Pat Benetar has formal musical and vocal training, and it is evident in the end-product. No fluff, and no tricks. She has a wonderful voice, and can always deliver the song.

  • i just checked, ad i made a small mistake, originally, the songwriter thought of Bob Marley, but Pat herself says she imagines Jesus or Ghandi or ANY OF THE "GREAT PEACEMAKERS OF THE WORLD" that's what she said in her Anthology, Synchronistic Wanderings released in 1999.

  • One of my favorite Benatar songs. I say it's about Nelson Mandela. Listen to the lyrics, and I remember around this time, there was a lot of consciousness-raising about South Africa showing up in pop culture in the late 80s. Lethal Weapon 2 for example, also "Cry Freedom" with Denzel Washington, and so on.

  • @DandAinTac In her Anthology ithere is a booklet and she talks about each song on the CD, she states that this song is for/about Bob Marley, check it out...The Anthology is called Synchronistic Wanderings, releases n 1999.

  • @DandAinTac It's called 'The Lion Song' and has the line 'Afrika tonight'. Who cares what it's about but never trust an artist to explain a work of art. You're supposed to see it as *you* want to see it. Artists often bullshit about this stuff. Nothing fault in that.

  • she could be Christina Ricci's mother!

  • it is still a wounderful song now great mremories

  • We are the people of the hard rain...

  • Nice song. This and Le Bel Age are truly my favorites. The 80's and early 90's were a time of hope. A time to look to the future..... Le Bel Age my friends. Le Bel Age.......

  • Pat Benatar is my absolutely favorite 80's singer way above Madonna.

  • The voice of the 80's generation... thank you, Pat, for rocking our world!!

  • My Own Hugest Queen ever and forever!!!!!!!! XXLOVE You dearest Pat & Neil!!! <3

  • "One day every eye shall see" She is quoting the bible . And The lions song ...Jesus the lion of the tribe of Judah . He's gone up to his fathers house ......need I say more . She is talking about Jesus .

  • énorme !

  • This song is about Carl the Llama.

  • 2nd best rock n roll singer of all time behind Ann Wilson of Heart.

  • I love this song!! It is one of my favorites by her too!

  • My all time favorite Pat Benatar song! This song will always be about all of the truely good things in life, and about my Mother, truely a woman who has lived to sing the Lions Song.

  • Pat Benatar is one of the greats! Some of today's female "singers" could take lessons from her.

  • Comment removed

  • BEAUTIFUL song!!! It makes me think of Jesus. My favorite by Pat Benatar.

    Rebecca

  • acostarod , Amine to that my friend so true..

  • I would bet Nelson Mandela

  • @acostarod It's definitely not Gandhi, Mother Teresa or Martin Luther King, stop comparing them to the son of God.

  • @acostarod ...Your an idiot. It's a good song but to place JC in a catagory of people like MK, Ghandi or MT proves your a fool....

  • does anyone think this song to be spirtual?? I think thats what shes singing....

"one day every eye will see truth before the light", let it be done right now.

    great song either way.

  • texomaqh, i think "one day every eye will see truth before the light" is describing Heaven, where we are all one, with no separation, in "one love". "Once there was a man, and his words became a song of love, and his song became the golden dream" is about the transformation of a mind to listening and thinking only with "the voice for love". This dream world becomes a "golden dream" filled with peace and happiness. I think she is describing the life of a man that was here 2000 years ago.

  • AHHHHH I LOVE LIONSS

  • My fave by Pat....

  • Drummer cracks me up, Beautiful song - words to live by...and yes angelic voice

  • Who is this song about?

Dr Martin Luther King Jr perchance?

  • I think it's about Jesus Christ

  • EVERYTHING is about Jesus Christ, for a Christian.

  • @nostalgiafortruth It is and both Pat and Neil are believers, they don't openly advertise this which is fine and I'm fine with it because their gift to us all is their music and this song is beautiful and powerful.

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • just my opinon, my pick for the greatest female singer EVER period.

  • This is how to be beautiful classy and sensual. Madonna take note!

  • Man she was so damned hot back then. Absolute Dish!

  • Wow- when life gets you down, listen to this song and your heart will be lifted.

    Magnificent!

  • First, I agree with Akee, she has one of the best singing voices in the history of women singing, and for her not to get best rock artist was foolish.

Second, I agree with Vegasboy73, her and the song didn't get enough credit at all. She is just wonderful in concert and that song tops the musical voice she as.

    Rock on P.B. for life!!

  • I love this song.. I don't think it received the credit it deserved in 1988

  • Yes, unfortunately neither did the LP it was lifted from "Wide Awake In Dreamlans" - except for "All Fired Up" it basically disappeared without a trace, which is very unfortunate.

  • I agree! This song just makes ya feel GOOD! Can't explain it! I think I love 2

songs by her! This and " All Fired Up".

"All Fired Up" is just a Hard-Rockn song

that has some great lyrics also! Pat and

Neil you've got a Fan in me!

  • hunterdog; Those are my two favorites Pat Benatar songs as well! :o)

  • This song is so incredible. When I listen to it, I feel the blood racing through my veins, breathe deeply, feel the delicious electricity of life... We are One, interdependent, interconnected, all life is sacred... I want to dance, I want to LIVE!

  • esa mujer es muy linda

  • I wish Pat & Neil would tour Australia..

  • your wish has come true. pat will be in australia all through october.

  • Beautiful. Why the hell didn'tchoo fuckin' MTV idiots nominate this song for Best Rock Video an' give her Best Rock Artist?

  • This is her most underrated song!!

  • ...Agreed. What Sonic Alchemy thus deprived the world as this beautious piece...

  • definitely. can't agree more.

  • @Kiddfan777 I couldn't agree more!!!

  • une de mes chansons favorite de pat benatar. thanks.

  • I love so much of Pat's work, but this is just astonishing. This and "We Belong" are my two favorites of hers. Thanks so much for posting, "emimusic."

  • She is HOT!

  • Pat Benatar should have been in the Rock N Roll Of Fame way before Madonna !!! Pat Benatar is an icon !!!!

  • @MRGXX64 so is it

  • @MRGXX64 Madonna is not even a rock performer!!! She should not even be in the rock and roll hall of fame!!! What a big fat joke!!!!!

  • @MRGXX64 Yeah - can't believe this incredible singer, with her mulit-platinum, mult-Grammy career, whose influence is still seen in female rockers today, has been snubbed by the RRHOF. Just goes to show you the real lack of legitimacy that lame organization has -- they need to model the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences or somehow bring more balance to their nomination process.

  • @MRGXX64 madonna man eating slut Pat Benatar icon well said .

  • @MRGXX64 not to mention Pats Video Heartbreaker was the very first video ever played by MTV and it's a coplete slap in the face that they have NOT put her in there yet.
