Yes- My Dad was Ire's guitar player and played with Aldus, Nathan, and many others. He was not a fan at all of Wayne but Wayne did respect my father and all of the rest of musicians. Wayne helped bring Cajun music out in front of the music scene - its not supposed to be traditional but I think it is very very respectful.
I'm a metal head but I love Wayne Toups he is the bridge to Cajun and Zydeco for me and people like me. Try listening to his music and not feeling uplifted.
My understanding of Cajun French must be improving, because I understood almost all of what Wayne's saying, except I don't know exactly what he's saying at 1:36 after a la maison (at the house), then he says something about putting smoke on the accordion? Help me out with that my Cajun friends. The rest (loosely translated, If I got it right) is about his father, brother, and uncle playing accordion occasionally for back yard Sunday barbecues, but not dances or parties. Am I correct?
People who think this music is trash are stupid. This is good ol' zydeco music. I'd rather listen to this than a lot of the other trashy music they have out there.
The old folks in my Proud Acadian Family say Wayne plays "That Trash". What Wayne has done , is keep young people involved in Cajun Music. For keeping the revival of the culture, he is as important as Belton, Nathan, or Ire. That trash can pack the dance floor as well as Amede and Dennis did it. Probally the best Accordian player of any kind, in the world.
I would say the Rabbit Festival in Iowa, LA, but I don't recognize the stage or the building. It must be another festival. It could be the Marshland festival in Lake Charles at the Civic Center... Don't quote me on that though.
this is the best songs to have at louisiana festivals. just it makes people loosen up a little bit and have fun with life. if you don't have fun with it your gona get really dissapointed.
