Age of Mythology is my favorite game, bar none. I got into the series starting at AoE II and every game and expansion is brilliant. The music is always consisently fantastic, the combat is fun, the storylines of the later games are interesting and who can forge tthe brillaince of Random Maps and Custom Maps? Even the DS turn-based ports are good, although not nearly at the level of the PC games. They're ALL still great fun to play after all these years, and they're aging very well.

I remember AoK having a medieval flair in its theme. Now the prominent drumming makes it sound colonial somehow.

If a time machine was song-operated (playing it would take us to the time & place most appropriate to the tune), whereas Antoine Dodson's Bed Intruder Song would take us to Huntsville, AL, in 2010, this song would take us to Bunker Hill, MA, in 1775.

AOE 3 looked a lot like AOM. But the gameplay and graphics are better, you can make bigger army's and you have more civilesations.

Why is the gap to big? In AOE2 you have mongols, Chinese and japanese, their empire was in the 13th century. And what about the Spanish aztecs and Mayans from AOE2, They are from 15 and 16th century. AOE 3 is perfect if you look at time, it goes further were AOE 2 ends. AOE 2 only has a bigger timeline than 3.

of all three of them i think two is the best so mutch enjoyment a great expansion plenty of different thiings to do the scenario editor was endlessly fun and symple and it gave you this feeling of secureness when you had finished building your base that the other two just didnt seem to have sure it wasnt 3D like all these modern games are but from its simplisity and great control that it had it is in my opinion still today the best RTS game that has ever been made.

And after building your cities up, your armies should actually be able to fight in those cities, showing all the buildings that you developed. And the enemy could destroy some of your region capital buildings in fighting, and it should be able to automatically destroy buildings when the army is camped in your smaller cities.

That would make it MUCH more realistic and fun, :D. It is satisfying to personally blast down a town with artillery rather than just creating negative pop growth.

Empire Total War is awesome, but one thing I like about the AOE series is that there is a lot of micromanagement on economic development.

In Empire Total War, you can't really use workers or anything, or see your cities and individually build them. That would make it so cool! Like, you could either just automanage them and let your cities get built based on economic growth in the region, or expend treasury money and build cots and mills and stuff, :D, to increase town wealth.

I think aoe2 had a tad more challenging and strategic fashion.

It definitely had some flaws which aoe3 fixed (i.e. such as ultimately limited resources, which was fixed for all but wood in aoe30), but its realism and balance was better, in some ways.

For example, logistically. Your villagers had to get resources and drop them off at a spot. Whereas in aoe3 you just got them immediately after harvest. And the trade cogs/carts, and siege equipment hurts your own men if hit.

Everyone is saying that this theme is messed up from AoE 1&2, now personally I like AoE 2 the best for the themes, but the reason they changed it in AoE 3 is because the drums were becoming big in the British and other European militias in the search for new world, ( such as drummer boys, to lead the troops into battle with success on their mind ) which is why they had it included in this version, so if adding pieces of history into a legendary game of AoE "Sucks" then I, would have to disagree
