  • @beautygurumilk me 2!!!!!

  • Sometimes I cant remember and get confused if a letter is backwards or not

  • I wonder if i have this. Although i have good writing and spelling skills, sometimes i am horrible at reading. For instance, if i see a word, sometimes its spelled differently in my mind. I also tend to pause and studder alot when reading out loud.

  • Oh man terrible memorys im dyslexic and i guess im kinda opposit beause i used big words when i was one yrs old but i had trouble reading i hated going to a therapyst they always made me feal unnormal i was to affraid to speak up when ppl asked what was wrong with me and still i get depressed when i have the same troubles in school

  • My teacher embarrassed me in class, when i kept asking questions about a paper, she said "Seriously, This class is NOT for Dyslexics." Since then, people always ask questions and ask if im autistic. No, im not.

  • I'm dyslexic. I won most spelling bees in school, which were spoken-responsive, and I can write well on paper; but the keyboard is a nightmare! The problem is inhererent to 2D versus 3D conceptualization. Many dyslexics have advanced 3D abilities at the expense of 2D thinking. They make the best mechanical engineers, but lousy accountants. A neighbor, who was the Neuorology Dept Head at Stanford Medical School, enlightened me about this 20 years ago.

  • My kid has it

  • I had dyslexia when i was little,but i was in honors...

  • GET SOME COLORED GLASSES! Like trying to teach a blind person to drive a car. You can tell them how to shift and turn, but they can't see the road. In 1988, 60 minutes aired a segment, colored glasses for dyslexics. I was severally dyslexic. I went out and got a pair. Purple was my color. Blues or reds are the colors that work best. At 28 I could read for the first time! I could see the print. It's a physical handicap. Side note, after laysic eye surgery I don’t need my colored glasses any more.

  • @MrJojosaunders

I live In NZ do you know where I can get some colored glasses.

  • @razellify YES! I found some on ebay under "John Lennon glasses". The cheapest were $10 shipped! I've been told the blue and red colors work best. Mine were purple. It's what ever color work best for you. Use them under bright light. They also said the glasses will cure 75% of the dyslexics, the ones with the physical handicap. Good luck and pass it on.

  • Having 1 or 2 signs doesn't mean your child has dyslexia, usually children reverse letters before the age of 7.....nice video btw...

  • I have dyslexia and i am 12 I've only known for a year but i never spell stuff backwards or jumble up letters. I just find learning a new language really hard. And maths.

  • im starting to think i might be dislexic because when i read i skip lines, or read the same lines, lose my place, then in math i will repeat the same numbers i already numbered then start putting random numbers and think that they were the right ones, also when i read i have to read i tlitteraly about 5 to 7 times just to comprehend it -.-

  • @poppx3Please visit my videos on dyslexia, and yes those are some signs.

  • Stormbouy your faking like 3 people ago almost the same thing and

  • dont judge dyslexics ,dyslexics are teople poo

  • @stormbouy Is that joking? If you where really dyslexic you wouldn't spell "Teople poo" You wouldn't just replace the letters with the other letters. Yes, I am dyslexic but I got and still get help. Just don't make jokes, We're human. We have feeling. We hurt.

  • @XcheekybeccaX

sorry I did'nt intend to furt anyones healings

  • i was diagnosd with dislecksia wen i was 7 i am now 11 and going to a school for kids with lerning dificultees

  • Dyslexic's are teaople poo.

  • Oh ya and I spell z and 3 back wards many times it's really hard

  • Ok what if 89% of the time I thing my right hand is left and the left is right and I have an imagenry friend and act silly I'm eleven and a half wat would you say about that can some one help me

  • @Moisesito366 Oh my! we're the same!

  • did uoy wonk i evah aixelsyd?

translated: did you know i have dyslexia?

  • @48orton dick

  • Well I have had a double vision since I was little but it didn't bother me much until I got older. Like u know how in movie when they focus in on a blade of grass ad everything around it is blurry and hard to see? Well that's how it is for me and the words jump around and this has been going on for a few months now along with trouble reading and bad spelling. Do I have dyslexia even though I didn't when I was little? Please help!!

  • i have dyslexia , when i was younger i found it very hard to read out loud, spell and even tie my shoe laces... however i really wanted to learn so i took no notice of it.

not untill recently i found out i have it and it make sence now why i found so many simple tasks hard

  • Very good to see that you are helping parents understand dyslexa as in the seventys mine was not picked up i was just lasy and stupid not a good start, keep up your good work Dyslexic Roger

  • I have trouble pronouncing words.

  • lol well dang my whole school has Dyslexia then

  • i have dyslexia and evrething in grammar is mixd up

  • no you don't want to go in a dyslexia group

  • im dsylexia and letters go everywhere

  • How visual attention works, fails, and leads to dyslexia (and what to do about it!)

SEARCH "Dr. Laurie Cestnick" "Harvard University" or "Cestnick" "Dyslexia" on YOUTUBE for video. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  • @Lockedupbutstillfree yea same here, I usually add words then erase them or leave words out. My spelling isn't that bad either. I just can't remember names as well as others and cant read fast since I keep on reading the top or bottom lines from the line that I was reading and that line I was readying gets blurry. Also I might look at one word and I would process into a similar or very different word in my head like when you wrote "rearly(really)" it looked like you wrote yearly at 1st

  • lol iv got dyslexia and im not like that iv got enough hand eye coordination to punch this bitch in the face

  • How old IS this video?!

  • check out dislecksia: the movie

  • Hey, these idea's don't work. My Mum throught I was dylexic when I started school, I was told I had mild dylexic at age 9 and now at age 18 I'm told I have extrem dylexic and asplexic. • I am dyslexic and I only wrote SOME letters backwards the only problem with spelling is that damn C.

  • What about high achieving dyslexics? They talk like fucking morons, but they're exceptional at most other subjects.

  • @CarboKill its dyslexia of the speech...i clutter words all of the time doesn't make us morons though

  • @Pheonix76549

Notice I said talk LIKE morons. Freaking dyslexics...

  • ?neht aixelsyd evah od os

  • @MrDrunknbass .. That wouldnt be dyslexia, that would be Bulimia.

  • @marinasvoice i think you didn't get the joke

  • @MrDrunknbass either way, i don't find making fun of other people's disabilities/suffering funny.

  • i had these signs in kinder-2nd grade now i have a hard time concentrating on my reading..

  • All of my family back to my grand parents have gone to cambridge university, i have dyslexia, i'm joining the army now because i wasn't given support or help! SEN is a load of crap!!!

  • Kids & parents, don't be afraid to push being assessed early! It can make the difference between graduating or not! I train tutors to work with adults (GED, ESOL), and this video could be really helpful for them. I'll use it along with a video (response) with details about how to get an assessment for adults. Unfortunately, adults have to pay or be covered by health care, unlike kids who can be assessed through school. But when many adults were in school, no one knew how to deal with LD!

  • I had all of these symtoms in KinderGarden and have been dignosed now..

My School doesn't considder Dyslexia, they never helped me, I had Speech therapey and learning innevention when I was 5 until I was 8, I wasn't diagosed until now, I am 14. I am not sure why it took so long.. probly because I have fairly good grades.. if you count C's..

  • @ForTheLoveofBallet

Get some one to look at your eyes when reading if they scan for right to left he has visual orientation preference Google The primary cause of dyslexia

  • do you know a school which is for dyslexia secondary students ages 13+

  • i know u guys wont beilive me but my brother has dyslexia

  • @theboss7865 i believe you. i don't know how you think it's unbelievable, but whatever.

  • I am a Chinese teacher from Taiwan. May I post your video on my blog and translate it into Chinese for my students who don't know Englsih very well? Your information about dylexia is very helpful for my students. I need your permission.

  • Most public have no clue how to help dyslexic students.

  • I was diagnosed at 11 and felt ashamed for years, are there any programmes to help?

  • Yes translate this: Riqe;iu asdfjk sdjib XD

  • Most schools don't "look" for dyslexia when they scan for learning disabilities because they don't conside it a learning disability...you need to ask if your child was screened for dyslexia...you'd be suprised. Schools need to step up and catch this early on the earlier it's caught the better managed it can be.

  • @RxChick1982 *so* true, teachers don't even know what dyslexia is I'm appauled

  • @RxChick1982 just like me i had moderate dilexia as a child now its is very mild just dont ask me to spell anything

  • my father was mr.perfect he thought i was stupid and lazy....and very slow understanding child..i wasn't his damn level ..so he got rid of me...bravo

  • This happens to me as-well. I am a lexic and I have ADD. I was to much for my mom to handle so she ran out on us. Please try and read as much as you can on the underlying effects this can have. Being a dyslexic can double these effects as we tend to take the in justest of the world more seriously than others. Your dad was not perfect no one is... Please; do yourself a favor and read Gift Of Dyslexia by Ron Davis, it is a real eye opener.

  • @TheDee95 fuck him. big hug to you.

  • @TheDee95

    lol u george llopez?

  • I have dyslexia...but I'm above average at language arts...I love to read...I'm not lazy I'm smart...but I can live with it...

  • woah.... how does it feel?

  • most of you probably just got really poor motor skills and are lazy to remember details.

  • wow, your disrespectful

  • with all due respect.

  • Tbh, you are probs fishing for an arguement, which I'm not going to give you. Hope you have a nice day.

  • actually i really do have problems spelling and reading, and verbably saying some words

  • OMG...i think i just found out i am dislexic

  • aha lol I see what you did there :D

  • who has a physcologist in their school?

  • they mean like a school counsoler, they called it physcologist in the 90's i guess, idk

  • not me...though the principle needs one :P

  • hi im dyslexic

it afects my ability read, write and spell.

it also makes me feel ashamed when the whole of of my class was way ahead of me in school. i left with only 2 GCSEs.

    your not alone.

  • dont you hate that? i am dyslexic aswell but i am smarter than most people, certianly smarter than nearly all of my classmates back in day. but no i have very poor grades while they have much higher. just because the write the correct way comprehend and can regergitate the write answers . i even had support and still sub par. ifail on paper. you have to do 4x effort for half to quarter credit.

  • same here!

  • i always feel realy stupid when i have to go up in class to. thankfully i realy only had a problem reading, righting, and remembering new words, so i used what i already know and avoided wrighting as much as humanly possibable! know im doing brilliant considering i mist most of the year becouse of other things...

  • well the might have been a wise choice even now for me. except i am stubborn and long winded. aswell as english is a wonderfull thing read and writing except i fail. i enjoyed english class, ienjoy writing but it fails and dosnt make sense to people. i couldnt avoid writeing myself.

  • dont ever EVER try to think about other people when your doing something, unless its actually about that person. but i dont mean to not care for people, i mean that if you do something do it for yourself! likewise, dont get upset if people make fun of you or something!

how would you feel if you claimed to be dislexic, but then someone on youtube said that you couldnt even spell what your claiming to be? (he said i mispelt "dislexia" but thats how its spelt in the UK). that just happend to me

  • where did you hear that? i always thought it was dyslexia. Dont get me wrong, i aint making fun or anything, im dyslexic too.

  • did you know that you can sometimes only see ɐıxǝןsʎp ǝʌɐɥ noʎ ɟı uǝɥʇ-puɐ-ʍou ʎɹǝʌǝ spɹɐʍʞɔɐq spɹoʍ ʍǝɟ ɐ ǝǝs a few words when you have nnʎod ɹnoʎ uo sןןɐq p,ǝɹǝsǝpoɹǝǝnb dyslexia? I find it strange.

  • how the hell did you do that!?

  • ˙˙˙sʍoooooouʞ ʎpoqoooooooou ʎpoqou 'ןoן

    xD

  • its magic...

  • lmao

  • Comment removed

  • hylassatyr - you fail,

your not a comedian, your just a pathetic prick :]

  • LOL!

    Good one!

    xD

  • bull of the shit omg i am freeking dyslexia when they said you can read the words upside down ahhaah wow i dont know a single kid a my school whos that dyslexic!

  • i have dyslexia, i didnt need to go to the doctor to see if i have it! like all my mom sisters and her included have it. my problems are math and like learning new words. thats probly why im not doing good in language arts. my L.A. teacher is no help because she just uses big words and gets in my face. but my math teacher is there if i need her for me to better understand the work if i need it.i love math but i just sometimes dont under stand it. people that have dyslexic no what im going throgh

  • there is number form dyslexia called dyscalculai . but i was diagnosed with bad short term memory and not dyscalculai, i was diagnosed with dyslexia but its improved greatly since worked at it. but my past still records me at my worst.

  • 1) Shit grades - Job done.

  • when u read r spell ur brain is tellin u dif thats y ppl wiv dyslexia go slower than others i hav dyslexia and i never got help from my school i had to help my self my dad got me a comp and i started lernin my self to read n spell and tryin to rember things i hav short term memory and it sucks

  • there is no reason why a dyslexic cannot read and write to the same standard as anyone else. It might take them longer to learn to do so, or to achieve the same outcome, but it only takes time and determination.

No point in getting up tight about small errors. It also helps to be a good reciever of criticism or correction, as sometimes it is important to write a perfect script. Just get someone to check it for you or take your time.

    NO prolem, just different.

  • you realy dont understand the difficulty. now i would say i am not that sever of a dislexic, writing college essays has proven to get a readable if not an understandable script has taken me days. first is the conception. reorganisation then mistakes of spelling grammer. so i end up rewriting it. hand it in to be handed back to be redone so it makes sense. worst still is a lecturer that asks for perfection and keeps asking me rework. when its sufficant. not impossible.takes 10x longer to perfect.

  • i, have trouble understanding words and if a teacher is telling us to write down stuff, i dont really take anything in :/ it takes me a while to get through to me, yet in mathematics i am fine

  • hi.

I was interested to study dyslexia and we are currently writing a thesis paper about it.

If you don't mind, can I ask some simple questions about dyslexia for those who is or was affected by it? Do you know one?

Please please please help us. We badly need help.

Thank you again and take care.

    --beiah

  • I have that I cant speel to save my life and all of my freinds laguf at me;(

  • sounds cool

i think i might have dyslexia

  • i like this video i am proud that i have dyslexia but now i am okey because i pursuing to be normal people

  • Is this for everybody?

because I use to write like that in 1st grade and I use to imagine the words going backwards but I don´t have that problem any more...

  • dont give ur kids extra work. i am dyslexic all the programs r a waste of time. all they do is damage. The best thing u can do is get Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.0. look it up it is the only thing worth doing. Tell your kids that it is nothing to worry about. Not worrying is the only way that dyslexic people can learn

  • dylexia is not a problem. people not understanding is a problem. it is not samething u need to fix. u need to fix people understanding.

  • what exactly is dislexia?

  • im dislexic and i just found out and im 13

  • Wow. this video is messed up, really dyslexics dont write their letters upside down or backwards any more than other kids of that age, the do have difficulty spelling and/or sounding out words and comprehending what they read. Its called Phonetic Developmental Dyslexia and is a difficulty between spelling (the letters on a page), Phonetics (the individual meanings/sounds of the letters) and the word meaning.

  • But with dyslexics, don't they see letters/numbers differently? From what I have heard, that's always been the case. I always heard of how they see them upside down, or backwards. So like a lowercase P would look like a lowercase Q in some situations. I mean when someone talks about dyslexia, thats always what they mean.

  • no, seeing letters backwards isn't a sign of dyslexia, a lot of kids do that and they're not dyslexic. It's a common misconception people have.

  • writing numbers backwards could be a sign. I have trouble with that too. You are reading the number so someone dsylexic would read it backwards.

  • check out the Dyslexia program by the famous dyslexic Ron Davis

  • if you see someone with dyslexia than try to help them out... you could save a life

  • hope there is more help for those with Dyslexia these days.. so people dont end up like me,like so many say.. dont give up hope but when you are left alone in the dark without friends.. its hard, been crying allmost every night for about 8 years and ended up standing on top of a building and thinking... "is this the end of my life?" at the age 20, i have finaly got some help.. but the woonds that it have left me is verry deep and many will probebly never heal.

  • They should put all the women in the video in a special class for people that think horrible nineties clothes are cool.

  • This is horrible..If you put a dyslexic in a special class, their self esteem will just be smashed!! They'll feel like they're retarded, and alot of their classmates will pick on them! I've had quite a few dyslexic friends that have been in this situation.

  • I agree. As a parent of a child who may be dyslexic I've tried to get help from the school, but for some reason, no one seems to know where to get help.

???, it's not like this is something new. Hence, why I'm looking on youtube. If any one is reading this can provide more information about helping my son. I will truly appreciate it. :(

    Until then the search continues.....

  • Schools usually have those dyslexia programs, but yet again, I said that it can smash self esteem.

The best thing I've found is home tutoring. Having them 'see' words literally. And making connections with the sounds over and over again.

It helps improve their phonetic awareness skills. If you separate the letters, and have them focus on the sound it makes, and gradually build up from there, they can improve.

I've tried it with my sister, and it seems to help.

  • My mom would take me to a tutor that would help me in both reading, writing and math.

My tutor was very nice to me and she was very patient.

I'd go three times a week to her house. So perhaps you could look for tutor. Literature would be the best place to look.

I hope that helps it will all workout in the end.

  • hey i have dilexia , i ahve memory dislexia ,and i ahve reading dislexia , i ahve a sivier case , but i only found this out 2 years ago when i was 15 years old.....

  • Dyslexia is a neurobiologically base language processing disorder that is primarily focused on auditory processing and no two dyslexia are the same.

  • but we all know that's a small part of what it is...

  • "It is a lonely existence to be a child with a disability which no-one can see or understand, you exasperate your teachers, you disappoint your parents, and worst of all you know that you are not just stupid."

    Susan Hampshire

    Past President

    The Dyslexia Institute.

  • Well done Fern this video is correct .A visual right left scanning preference has been identified as the primary cause of dyslexia by Leonardo Da Vinci in the 1500's

  • I would also point out that a visula left left scan is only ONE of the 38 identifiable traits of dyslexia and it does not mean that you are not dyslexic if you read/write words or letters backwrads.

  • This lady....has NO IDEA what shes talking about....

  • exactly she's just a

  • she's just a repeater, it's like she's talking about radioactive waste or mutants, it's like she's saying people watch out!

if your child is dyslexic you must have him arrested locked up and cremated.

    Dyslexics say rgggggggg

  • exactly...putting a child in a special program because they are dyslexic will crush them to their core..fucking dumb bitch doesnt know what the hell shes talking about.

  • im dyslexic and there is nothing wrong with my eye hand quordination and i dont see leter backwards . its how the sound brakes up in my head. some times when i wright i wright jummbled like that, is tath or dog is bog but i catch it farly quick.

  • I think the hand eye coordination goes more with scotopic sensitivity than dyslexia. Even though a lot of dyslexics have that too, they don't always go together.

  • same i get the d and b muddled up...

  • Dyslexia has nothing to do with interpreting or writing letters backwards or upside down, that is one of the most common misconceptions. The core deficit is phonological processing (how they perceive speech sounds), which makes it so difficult for them to map the speech sounds onto the letters when they go to read and write.

  • My grandson is dyslexic. I developed an alphabet for him (search YouTube for Phonic Faces) that by-passes the need for phonemic awareness by making letter-to-mouth position associations. Our research shows it works for a wide range of children, including typically developing, more effectively than the usual letter-word associations (apples don't say "ah", it requires isolating the first sound from the "word" /apple/, which means you must already have phonemic awareness to make the association)

  • Thanks. International Dyslexia Association,The Dyslexia Foundation, and other Dyslexia organizations recognize phonological/auditory aspects of Dyslexia as problems for most Dyslexics.

  • I had auditory reversals which led to speech reversals. I had auditory therapy, speech therapy, and phonics to remediate my Dyslexia. I still have auditory input speech lags and poor short term verbal memory as well as speech irregularities. Most dyslexics have phonological, auditory processing issues..not visual.

  • Thank you for your comment. We will investigate the phonological/auditory aspects of dyslexia as well.
