Thank you for making this! It was like my Gran and I were sitting together and she was teaching me how to crochet. Great questions and explanations. I really can not say thank- you enough.
Thank you Aunt Ester! I now can crochet! I bought a learn to crochet kit and couldn't understand the directions. Your a great teacher and the filming is excellent too. The internet is wonderful sometimes!
Thanks Aunt Esther! I am a total beginner but would like to make a toasty couch throw for the upcoming Maine winter...Your video was SO helpful! Seeing the stitches in real time and in slow mo really helped me wrap my head around the process. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for the great videos! I have learned so much... I hate to ask, but would you post a video on how to change yarn colors? I'm expecting my first grandbaby in March and would love to make a baby blanket.
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so easy to follow and I have learned so much! I hate to ask, but would you make a video on changing yarn colors? I'm expecting my first grandbaby in March and would love to make a baby blanket. Thanks again for your help, you are terrific!
I just started crocheting about a week ago. My sister's baby shower is two days from now and I'm making her a baby blanket. I was getting stressed because i have almost the entire thing done, but I thought I had to do a different type of crochet or something in order to end it. Thank you, this video helped so much. =) ♥
My son says "Aunt Esther is your new friend!" I agree thank you Aunt Esther. I'm one of those direction challenged folk and you made it very easy and your voice is so soothing :) thanks again, I'll be back.
Hi your video was so incredibly helpful! the only question I have is after i'm done making all that what do i do next? do i just continue making more of those? is this a scarf or a blanket?
This little practice piece wasn't meant to be anything special. I was just showing how to do the stitches. If you're making a blanket or a scarf, you'll have to decide how long and how wide you want it to be, before you start crocheting.
Thank you so much for your videos. I am desperately trying to learn how to crochet. But I have been finding it impossible with books. I have found a few good videos on here but it was stilol going over my head until I came across your video. So thank you sooooooooooo much. I'd love to see some more of your demos. I have added you to my favs and subsribed to you :)
I love this video it is so helpful.... my sweetheart says that if you roll your yarn into a ball then you can go much faster.... I know your going slow for instructional purposes ... but if you roll it then you won"t have to "fight" the yarn..... Now that advice comes from OLD SCHOOL!! OL' SKOOL RULZ ~N~ so does this video ... GOOD TEAMWORK
I do agree with you and your sweetheart - and it WOULD have been easier to use had I rolled it in a ball first! I definitely should have done that with another yarn I had - I STILL haven't found where it was supposed to start on that one!
Wow... this was exactly what I needed! Slow clear instructions!! Most 'beginner' books don't clearly show each step so I was completely missing the details! Thanks!
I've been trying to teach myself for weeks now and i just couldn't get it... you explain all the things that i've been confused on.... its so simple! thanks!
Aunt Esther and Jewelite01; Thank-you so much. I have tried teaching myself to crochet for years using printed instructions. I have not been very successful, but with your videos I'm confident of accomplishing this skill. Aunt Esther does a wonderful job of teaching and Jewelite01 produced excellent quality videos. Looking forward to more videos. With sincere regards and thanks again.
We thank you for this compliment! Yes, my niece has done a wonderful job of producing these videos! I'm working on making a couple more videos to sell for a small fee.
You're very welcome! I am working on making more videos. I'm planning on putting them on my website, and selling them there. I will put my website address here when it's ready. Hope to see you there!
Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! I brought a book that I could not understand. This makes so much sense and now I am actually crochetting. LOVE IT!!!
I taught myself how to knit and now I'm learning how to crochet but I've been having so much trouble trying to understand the instructions and pictures in the books.
These videos and the commentary is so clear and easy to understand. I'm british though and alot of our abbr. are different but still it's easy to understand and adapt everything.
Many thanks to aunt esther... My mom, my sister and myself have learned how to crochet from watching her videos. And with a new baby on the way we are going blanket crazy. Cant wait to see the video on how to change colors (we have just been tieing off) Also can you make a video on how to make a baby beanie (baby cap)? - checkin back everyday, cant wait to learn something new.

Thanks for your kind words! I'm so excited that all of you have learned how to crochet! It's such a fun passtime, and you're creating something special for someone!
I'm afraid that I do the same thing as you are doing to change colors! I also just tie-off the first color, and then tie-in the new color around the same place. Then weave the "tail" into its own color.
Hmmm, a baby beanie cap.... I'll have to look around and see what I can find.
Sure, I'll explain it here, and in another video we'll also show it.
Go to the place where you want to add the new color. Simply pull your yarn through the highest crocheted loop on the side of your work. Then all you do is start crocheting as you would at the end of a row. (For starting the next row, chain 1 for single crochet row, chain 3 for double crochet row.)
hello my name is tamicka and i am trying to learn how to crochet. i cannot get started. i am having trouble with the knot part.

hey what about the left over tail on the other side
XxxxKATIExxxxX 3 years ago
Well, wherever you have a tail, just use your extra/empty crochet hook and thread the tail back into the same color on your blanket.
