The right thing is NOT to let him go. If you let him go, he won't know how to look after himself in the wild and will most probably die.
@trainingyourparrot i think you missunderstood me. "let him go" is my way of putting it nicely that he will take a final trip to the vet.

Awhhh, poor little budge. Do what is good for the bird, he is beautiful and that is a good age for a budgie. You must of taking good care of him.
