@blackyoshi1230 Such a shame that soundtrack isn't available in Ys I & II Chronicles, due to licensing issues, since Hudson currently owns the rights to the TG-16 version.
I guess for Chronicles, we'll have to listen to the Perfect Collection, PCE (pre-TG-16), and Eternal versions as alternates. Shame, the TG-16 soundtrack was awesome (I mean come on, they're the originals that had people like me hooked). And I guess Hudson's ownership of Dawn of Ys (the fourth game that is not Mask of the Sun) is pretty much the reason nobody thinks of making an enhanced version of it? Personally, I think it would be dealt justice with the Eternal engine.
@blackyoshi1230 Well, the thing is, if Falcom ever remakes Ys IV, I don't see any reason why they can't just take the more fleshed-out characters of DoY and fuse the 'canon' plot of Mask of the Sun together somehow, to make an entirely new re-imagining of Ys IV. As both games share characters, essentially, just with one being 'canon' and the other not, in the very least the 'happy medium' exists as an option, I guess.
But that's just my two cents... What we REALLY need is Ys Origin (my opinion!)
@BrightSuzaku Yeah, Origin would be really good (I mean, come on, we have to know how it started). The Dawn/Mask thing... we'll probably ask about that once the main set of localization is all set and done.
I admit to liking various other versions more. It seems less "IN YOUR FACE, I'M DARK FACT" to me, and that's what I originally liked about the theme.
That, and it made me think of Castlevania. XD
This version... doesn't do that. It's nice, nontheless.

@BrightSuzaku
For some reason, the original TG-16 version of this song properly did the suspense justice.
