Of course, the fact that a parent company never reprimanded her may be grounds for establishing that there was some kind of unspoken policy regarding her Muslim garb. Head gear isn't permitted in A&F stores. The hiring manager should have expressed that during the interview. The easiest way to have avoided this was to simply not hire her.

The thing is, this has NOTHING to do with religon. Their sales associates are models (it even says so in the contract) and thus they must adhere to a look. Head coverings, of any kind, are not allowed. You wouldn't go to work in a habit so why a hijab? Neither are appropriate for Hollister/A&F/Gilly Hicks. If you don't agree with their policy, fine, don't work or shop there. There's no reason to get up in arms about it though.

Most stores don't allow tattoos and people with obvious tats/piercings aren't hired yet they don't go and throw fits. If the people show their tattoos at work they get a warning to cover up or else they are fired. If the policy states no jewelry then they're going to have to remove their cross along with any other acc.

The book of Job says oceans contain springs. It took until the 1970s to understand that the oceans were not fed by rivers but that there are springs under the water at depths that would be impossible for anyone to know until we had the capability of getting that deep.

Of course, the fact that a parent company never reprimanded her may be grounds for establishing that there was some kind of unspoken policy regarding her Muslim garb. Maybe the parent company part will resolve that issue, though, since there was no way that A&F could have known how Hollister handled the issue to begin with. Now I am on the fence. The fact that A&F's decision prevents her from wearing her headscarf is incidental. It has nothing to do with immutable characteristics such as a black man who has pseudofolliculitis barbae and cannot shave his face (of course these are two separate issues). A&F shouldn't even have to prove undue hardship since the little shithead probably never informed her employer -in a timely manner- of the necessity for a reasonable accommodation regarding her religious needs. I can understand A&F's position. They are in business to make money. Many Americans don't like Muslims, wether it's right or not and will refuse to buy anything from a Muslim. I am one of those people. I avoid Muslim owned businesses and am careful not to buy products from Muslim countries, which isn't easy. I only wish there was one oil company that didn't import from the Middle East. You may not like my view but I've lost several friends because of the religion of peace.

Catholics are taught that baptism saves. Water baptism does nothing, salvation must occur PRIOR to baptism. The pope, priests and leaders are infallible. Only God is infallible and this teaching is blasphemy. Catholic sacrements are essential for salvation. NO sacrements are essential for salvation.

@rezabeza the original text is in greek. The word used means "without ceasing" which in context actually doesn't mean to be in a perpetual state of prayer. It means to pray REGULARLY. This is the idea in persistance of prayer. also again, you are never quoting Jesus whom you say you "follow", you continue to quote Paul. You pick and choose what you "follow'. Jesus came to FULFILL the covenant. There is nothing that needed to be added to or changed for that matter.

One is written by man and the other written by God. to wear a kippah is to say "I am a proud jew" which is fine if you see it as something like sporting your team colors but it is not what God commanded. The talmud is "traditions of elders" which Jesus makes allusions to. @TheJoozie Your Bible may say that the Torah aka The Law is not meant for non-Jews, and that is in perfect agreement with the Islamic view that the Torah was only sent to the Jews. However, since according to Islam, there is the Quran and it is the final revelation meant for all of mankind, which repeats most of the "rules" in the Torah, your point that "those laws do not apply" to Muslims is simply wrong. We follow the Abrahamic faith and adhere to the laws given to us by God.

If you chose to believe and adhere to it, it was of your own valition, not of coersion (like islam likes to do). The thing is, this has NOTHING to do with religon. Their sales associates are models (it even says so in the contract) and thus they must adhere to a look. Head coverings, of any kind, are not allowed. You wouldn't go to work in a habit so why a hijab? Neither are appropriate for Hollister/A&F/Gilly Hicks. If you don't agree with their policy, fine, don't work or shop there. There's no reason to get up in arms about it though.

This story always reminds me of those stories where a Muslim worker decides to work at a liquor store or something, and then refuse to handle alcohol on the grounds that it is against their religion.
Race is not something you can change, but a headscarf is optional. Just take it off for work, it's not like they are saying to never wear a headscarf again. Also, who the hell shops at Ambercrombie and Fitch? Their clothes suck. I find better quality clothing at a grocery store.

@kelgabbour Uhm, no, people wouldn't get upset over that (or if they did they would be acting idiotic). Most stores don't allow tattoos and people with obvious tats/piercings aren't hired yet they don't go and throw fits. If the people show their tattoos at work they get a warning to cover up or else they are fired. If the policy states no jewelry then they're going to have to remove their cross along with any other acc.
